Objective To interpret genetic variation and population structure of Anopheles dirus A and D from China by molecular marker. Methods Samples included An. dirus A of Hainan laboratory colony (n=13), and field specimen from Mengla (n=17) and Jiangcheng (n=17) in Yunnan Province. The specimens were identified by PCR assay before study. mtDNA-COⅠ region was amplified and sequenced. Genetic variation and population structure was estimated according to sequence data. Results The mtDNA-COⅠ gene with a length of 959 bp was analyzed. There were three haplotypes in An. dirus A and six haplotypes in An. dirus D. The above haplotypes distributed in three populations unif-ormly. The average number of pairwise differences within Mengla population (7.441 2) was greater than that of Jiangcheng (1.279 4) and Hainan (1.051 3) populations, which suggested that the level of genetic divergence was the highest within Mengla population. The result of hierarchical AMOVA estimation showed a limited geneflow (Fst=0.799 9), therefore the variation level in a population (20.01%) was smaller than among the populations (79.99%). Conclusion The inter-specific genetic variation between An. dirus A and D in China was small and the level of divergence among individuals was high.

Objective To investigate antenatal sonographic findings of the fetal isolated callosal hypoplasia and partial agenesis. Methods A retrospective study was performed on the cases of hypoplasia and partial agenesis of the corpus callosum suspected at antenatal sonographic basic examination from 2006 to 2014, all the cases were confirmed by pathology or magnetic resonance imaging(MRI). For the surviving infants, clinical follow-up had been performed to assess the developmental outcome. Results Thirteen fetuses suspected with callosal underdevelopment were identified at a median gestational age of 31 (range, 18~39) weeks. Ten cases were confirmed by autopsy and MRI, including 9 with partial agenesis and 1 with hypoplasia. Among the 10 fetuses confirmed with isolated partial agenesis or with hypoplasia, incidence of the absent cavum septum pellucidum was 20%, the ‘Tear-drop’ lateral ventricles was 40%, the upward displacement of the third ventricle was 80%. Pregnancy was terminated electively in 8 of the cases with partial agenesis or with hypoplasia. Among the 2 surviving infants, apparent normal development was observed in only one case, but we lost the follow-up of this case at two-year-old. Six fetuses received the chromosome identification, almost all of them were normal. Conclusion The basic ultrasonic examination is feasible for the antenatal diagnosis of isolated callosal underdevelopment the. The indirect classical signs of callosal partial agenesis and hypoplasia are different with those of complete agenesis of the corpus callosum. The incidences of the‘Tear-drop’ lateral ventricles and the upward displacement of the third ventricle are higher than the absence of CSP. The chromosome of isolated callosal partial agenesis or hypoplasia is normal, however, the prognosis is uncertain.

Objective To study the possible mechanisms by which repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) pretreatment antagonizes seizures induced by lithium chloride-pilocarpine and any correlation with antiapoptosis in hippocampal CA1 neurons. Methods Thirty rats were randomly divided into a control group, a sham stimulation group and an rTMS pretreatment group. The rTMS pretreatment group was pretreated on 7 consecutive days with low-frequency rTMS (0.5 Hz, 75% of threshold intensity, 20 times/bundle, and 5 bundles/d), while the sham-stimulation group was sham-stimulated with a similar sound. Lithium chloride-pilocarpine ( LPC ) was used to induce a model epileptic state.Epileptic stroke latency and severity were recorded ; neuronal morphology was observed using hematoxylin and eosin (HE) staining; mean positive-reactive cell number and mean optical density and absorbance of B cell lymphoma/leukemia gene-2 (Bcl-2) were recorded, and Fas and Caspase-3 protein in the hippocampal CA1 region were observed with immunohistochemistry. Results Compared with the sham stimulation group, epileptic latency in the rTMS pretreatment group was significantly longer. Seizures in the rTMS pretreatment group were less severe, and a number of degenerated neurons were observed to be apoptotic. Bcl-2 protein expression increased at each time point, but Fas and Caspase-3 protein expression decreased. Conclusions rTMS pretreatment has an anti-epilepsy effect. The possible neuronal protection might be produced by regulating the expression of Bcl-2, Fas and Caspase-3 protein in the hippocampus.

Objective To evaluate the application of real-time three-dimensional transesophageal echocardiography (RT-3D TEE)in left atrial appendage (LAA)closure. Methods After excluding valvular disease,21 of 36 atrial fibrillation (AF)patients suffered the percutaneous LAA closure were chosen to measure left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF)and to observe if the thrombus or the cloudiness echo will occur. The multiple planner reconstruction function was applied to rebuild sections and to observe the LAA anatomical morphology and its internal structure.During operation, the Flexi Slice function was used to measure the dimensions of LAA ostium,RT-3D mode was used to monitor sheath transport and closure device release, and to immediately evaluate the effect of blocking and complications after the operation. Results The exam before the closure procedure showed 5 of 36 patients' left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF)<40% and one or more thrombus or the cloudiness echo were found in other 10 patients' which were thus excluded from the study.RT-3D TEE examination in the 21 patients revealed 8 single-lobe cases, 8 double-lobes cases and 5 patients with multi-lobe.Two patients of them need a special device. The maximum dimensions of LAA ostium was (22.24±4.35)mm,the fixed plate size of conventional LAmbreTM device was (28.26±5.23)mm.All patients choiced an average (1 .1 ±0.30)closure device and get the best sealing effect evaluated by RT-3D TEE immediately after operation,10 cases of them has about 1 -3 mm residual leakage exist around the closure.None of the patients with a new pericardial effusion and cardiac tapenade,no closure shift and embolism events. Conclusions RT-3D TEE can real-time and dynamically observe LAA anatomical morphology and its internal structure, compared with other imaging techniques, RT-3D TEE has irreplaceable advantages in the percutaneous LAA closure.
