Objective To investigate the resistance of Pseudomonas aeruginosa and genotyping of the main β-lactamases in China. Methods A total of 645 Pseudomonas aeruginosa isolates were collected from 28 hospitals in 16 cities in China from July 2006 to July 2007. The susceptibilities to 11 kinds of antimicrobial agents were detected by agar dilution or Kirby-Bauer disk diffusion method. The genotypes of β-lactamases including TEM, SHV, CTX-M and OXA of all the strains were detected by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and sequence analysis. Results The resistance rates of 645 Pseudomonas aeruginosa isolates to antimicrobial agents were high, except those to amikacin and meropenem were lower than 30 %. Two hundred and seventy-five (42. 64 % ) strains were carbapenem and (or) meropenem-nonsusceptible Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Three hundred and sixty-eight (57.05 %) strains were multidrug-resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa and 20 (3. 10%) strains were pandrug-resistant. The genotyping results of β-lactamases were as follows: 51 stains produced OXA-10 group β-lactamases, 37 were CARB type, 36 were TEM, 35 were PER, 11 were CTX-M, 9 were VEB, 5 were SHV, 24 were metallo-β-lactamases positive and 1 was GES. None of genotypes of plasmidmediated AmpC enzyme and other carbapenemases were detected. CTX-M-13, CTX-M-14,CTX-M-15, CTX-M-3 of extended spetrum β-lactamese were detected in Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Conclusions The situation of Pseudomonas aeruginosa resistances is severe in China. OXA-10 and PSE-1 are the most common genotypes of β-lactamases. The β-lactamases genotyping is different between carbapenem-nonsusceptible and carbapenem-susceptible strains.

Objective To investigate the influence of autoantibodies against the second extracellular loop of β1-adrenoceptor ( β1-AA) on the proliferation ability of LPS-stimulated rat B lymphocytes. Methods Active immunization assay was used to obtain adequate IgGs in which β1-AA was positive; MACS (magnetic activated cell sorting) assay was used for gaining rat splenic B lymphocytes; CCK8 assay was used for detecting the influence of β1-AA to the proliferation abilities of silent and LPS-stimulated rat splenic B lymphocytes. Results β1-AA (0.1 μmol/L pIgGs ) promoted the proliferation of LPS-stimulated rat splenic B lymphocytes(A values:0.739±0.036 vs 0.533±0.032,P<0.05),and the effect was likely to be concentration-dependent.And the effect could be blocked by β1-AR blocker or β2-AR blocker partially, and could be blocked by β1-AR blocker and β2-AR blocker completely; β1-AA had no proliferation effect on silent rat splenic B lymphocytes. Conclusion β1-AA could promote the proliferation of LPS-stimulated rat splenic B lymphocytes via β1-AR and β2-AR which were on the surface of B lymphocytes. Thus,it could provide new clues for complex pathologic mechanism of cardiovascular patients in which β1-AA is positive.

Objective To investigate the effect of intraurethral irrigation with honeysuckle water-decoction on formation of bacterial biofilm on the surface of the catheter. Methods Eighty male patients, who had no history of catheterization and no urinary infection with negative results of urine bacterial culture, were enrolled in the study. All patients were randomly divided into 4 groups with 20 cases in each: group A (patients underwent intraurethral irrigation with honeysuckle water-decoction); group B (intraurethral irrigation with 25% PVP); group C (intraurethral irrigation with normal saline ) and group D (no intraurethral irrigation). The urethral catheters were removed at the 7th day and the bacterial biofilm on the surface of the catheter was examined by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Results SEM demonstrated uneven- distributed matrixes coated on the surface of the catheter, and bacteria adhered to the matrixes. The average thickness of biofilm in group A, B, C and D was (17.876 ±11.788)μn, (31.090±15. 006)μm,(33.716±11.927)μm, (67.762±23.588)μm, respectively. The average thickness of biofilm in group A, B, C was significantly thinner than that in group D (P<0.01), and the thickness in group A was thinner than that in group B and C (P<0.01), but there was no significance difference between group B and group C (P>0.01). Conclusions Intraurethral irrigation with honeysuckle water-decoction can effectively reduce the formation of bacterial biofilm on the surface of the catheter.

Objective To compare the pathological and serological difference of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) models in severe combined immunodeficiency (SCID) mice transplanted with synovial tissues from patients with rheumatoid arthritis (SCID-HuRAg mice) established either by renal capsule or subcutaneous back heterotopic transplantation. Methods RA synovium and normal human cartilage were co-implanted subcutaneously into the backs or under the renal capsule of 15 SCID mice. Engrafted tissues and serum were taken at the 4th and 8th week after transplantation. Histopathology and ELISA were performed to compare their histological and serological differences with RA. Results The morbidity and taken rate were significantly increased in the subcutaneous back of the mice group than the renal capsule group. The degree of cartilage erosion as well as the titers of serum IgM type rheumatoid factor suggested no significant difference between the two groups of SCID-HuRAg model devel oped by different engraft methods. Conclusion Back subcutaneous transplantation SCID-HuRAg model can be an ideal and stable animal model for studies on the pathogenesis and biotherapy of RA.

Super-resolution image reconstruction techniques play an important role for improving image resolution of lung 4D-CT. We presents a super-resolution approach based on fast sub-pixel motion estimation to reconstruct lung 4D-CT images. A fast sub-pixel motion estimation method was used to estimate the deformation fields between "frames", and then iterative back projection (IBP) algorithm was employed to reconstruct high-resolution images. Experimental results showed that compared with traditional interpolation method and super-resolution reconstruction algorithm based on full search motion estimation, the proposed method produced clearer images with significantly enhanced image structure details and reduced time for computation.
