Objective This study is to identify long-term functional recovery and maturity of regenerated nerve fibers after repairing mouse nerve defects with chitosan/polylactide-co-polyglycolide artificial nerve grafts ( CPANGs ) . Methods Mouse sciatic nerve defects, 2mm in length, were bridged by CPANGs (n=6), with nerve autograft (n=6) and nerve defect (n=6) as controls.Plantar test, electrophysiological examination and laser Doppler perfusion imaging following nerve crush were carried out at 1 year after repair to assess nerve function recovery , while muscle wet weight ratio, histological assessment and transmission electron microscopy were performed to evaluate nerve re -innervation and maturity of regenerated nerve fibers .Results When compared to the autograft group , the CPANG group did not show statistically significant difference in functional recovery in terms of paw withdrawal latency , neurogenic vasodilatation , amplitude and latency of compound muscle action potentials ( CMAPs ) , wet weight ratio of gastrocnemius and tibialis cranialis muscles , number of myelinated nerve fibers and density of unmyelinated axons .However , both these two repair groups exhibited significantly longer CMAPs latency , thinner myelin sheath and a lag-behind shift of diameter distribution of myelinated axons as compared to the normal control .Conclusion At 1 year after the mouse sciatic nerve defect was repaired by CPANGs , sensory and autonomic nerve function , number of regenerated axons and muscle re-innervation degree were recovered to the same extent as nerve autografting , but the regenerated nerve fibers were in a state of immaturity .

BACKGROUND:Posterior cervical open-door expansive laminoplasty is one of the simple and effective methods to treat cervical spinal diseases, has satisfactory results but low complications. However, the imbalance of sagittal plan, loss of lordosis or axial pain is often reported recently. OBJECTVE:To analyze the correlation between cervical sagittal alignment and clinical outcomes after laminoplasty. METHODS:Between January 2011 and June 2015, 122 cases of cervical spinal disease, who were treated with open-door expansive laminoplasty with mini-titanium plate, were retrospectively analyzed. Clinical outcomes were evaluated by Japanese Orthopaedic Association, Neck Disability Index and Visual Analogue Scale. Radiographic results were assessed by C2-7 Cobb angle, C2-7 sagittal vertical axis and C7 slope. The correlation between sagittal alignment and clinical outcomes were analyzed. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:(1) Al patients were fol owed up for 7-32 months. (2) Japanese Orthopaedic Association, Neck Disability Index and Visual Analogue Scale scores were improved in the final fol ow-up (al P<0.001). No significant difference in upper limb Visual Analogue Scale scores was determined (P=0.142). In the final fol ow-up, C2-7 sagittal vertical axis increased (P=0.036), but neither the C2-7 Cobb angle nor the C7 slope significantly changed (P=0.092, P=0.184). (3) There were no correlations between sagittal alignment parameters (C2-7 Cobb angle, C2-7 sagittal vertical axis and C7 slope) and clinical outcomes (Japanese Orthopaedic Association, Neck Disability Index and Visual Analogue Scale) (al P>0.05). (4) These findings indicated that posterior cervical open-door expansive laminoplasty with mini-titanium plate can significantly improve the neurological function of patients. However, there is no correlation between cervical sagittal alignment and clinical outcomes.

The outbreak of COVID-19 around the world has made more than two millions of confirmed patients and serious shortages of healthcare resources and medical staff in many countries. In the battle of fighting COVID-19 in Wuhan, many microsurgery staff across China were sent to Wuhan and put on duty in the treatment of COVID-19 patients. The purpose of this article is to review the personal experiences of microsurgery staff in fighting against COVID-19 as well as to analyse how to act professionally when facing the challenges and change of roles and meanwhile having to give full play to the professional advantages subject to make contributions to the battle of COVID-19. A reference is hereby provided for the microsurgery staff in dealing with a sudden and major epidemic outbreak in the future.

Objective:To assess the value of acoustic radiation force impulse (ARFI) elastography in the diagnosis of children with biliary atresia. Methods:A prospective survey of infants with hepatitis syndrome and hyperbi-lirubinemia in Xinhua Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine from January 2017 to December 2018 was performed. The children with hepatitis syndrome were divided into the biliary atresia group( n=45) and non- biliary atresia group( n=30). Thirty children with hyperbilirubinemia were selected as the control group.Shear wave speed (SWS) of all infants was collected by ARFI ultrasound and compared among 3 groups.Receiver ope-rating characteristic curve(ROC curve) was used to analyze the optimal threshold value for SWS in the diagnosis of biliary atresia. Results:The mean SWS values in the biliary atresia group, non-biliary atresia group and the control group were (1.79±0.29) m/s, (1.26±0.12) m/s and (1.08±0.06) m/s, respectively.Compared with the control group, the mean SWS values in the biliary atresia group and non-biliary atresia group were significantly higher ( t=165.43, 15.75, all P<0.05). The mean SWS value in the non-biliary atresia group was significantly lower than that in the biliary atresia group ( t=90.27, P<0.05). With the non-biliary atresia group as reference, the area under the ROC curve of SWS for diagnosis of biliary atresia was 0.98(95% CI: 0.95-1.00), the optimal threshold was 1.45 m/s, and the sensitivity and specificity were 88.9% and 96.7%, respectively. Conclusions:Rapid non-invasive ARFI elastography is effective in the diagnosis of biliary atresia, and thus has important value for early diagnosis and treatment in clinical practice.

OBJECTIVEA remote wireless electrocardiogram (ECG) monitoring system is designed by using the CC2530 micro-controller as the device core.
METHODSAcquisition, conversion and data processing for ECG signals are realized on CC2530 micro-controllers. And the ECG data is transmitted to the coordinator by using ZigBee. It realizes the real-time monitoring of ECG signals and heart rate variability (HRV) data.
RESULTSThe test results show that the maximum error of the designed ECG monitoring analyzer is 3 beats per minute and the average error is 1.6 beats per minute, which can meet the requirement of pharmaceutical industry standards of the People's Republic of China.
CONCLUSIONSThe ECG monitoring analyzer has good portability, high measurement precision and good practical application values.
