1.Features and relevant factors concerning the ecological executive function of children with idiopathic or cryptogenic epilepsy

Objective To explore features and relevant factors about the ecological executive function of children with idiopathic or cryptogenic epilepsy.Methods 50 children with idiopathic or cryptogenic epilepsy against were compared with 50 normal ones of the same gender,age group and educational level.All the subjects'parents completed the Behavior Rating Inventory of Executive Function(BRIEF).Results The scores of children with idiopathic or cryptogenic epilepsy in global executive composite (GEC),behavioral regulation index (BRI) and metacognition index (M I) of BRIEF (respectively,55.12± 10.49,53.74 ± 10.35,56.60 ± 10.99) were significantly higher than those of the control group (respectively,48.10 ± 6.35,47.18± 5.84,48.16 ± 6.23) (P< 0.01).Multiple stepwise linear regression analysis showed that 4 clinical features namely seizure type,gender,age and epilepsy control were closely related to BRIEF while factors such as educational level,outbreak age,course of disease,family history and antiepileptic drugs were not relevant to BRIEF.Conclusion The ecological executive function of children with idiopathic or cryptogenic epilepsy faulty and is affected by seizure type,gender,age,epilepsy control.
2.Research advances on gene susceptibility of viral myocarditis

Viral myocarditis is an acute or chronic inlfammatory disease of the myocardium and may progress to dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) with life-threatening symptoms including heart failure, arrhythmias and sudden cardiac death. At present, the pathogenesis of viral myocarditis still remains unclear, so it is dififcult for clinicians to diagnose, treat and ifnd a speciifc biomarker. However, the pilot researches showed that pathogenesis of viral myocarditis was associated with genetic susceptibility. This article reviewed the above aspects.
3.The study on the correlation between social support and ecological executive function in adult patients with epilepsy

Objective To explore the social support and characteristics of ecological executive function in adult patients with epilepsy,and their correlation.Methods Evaluate the social support and ecological executive function in 65 cases of adult epilepsy patients and 60 normal ones of the same gender,age group and educational level using the Social Support Rating Scale (SSRS) and the Behavior Rating Inventory of Executive Function-adult version (BRIEF-A).The date were statistically analyzed with independent sample t test,Pearson correlation analysis and multiple stepwise regression analysis.Results The scores of adult epilepsy patients in global executive composite,subjective support,objective support and support utilization of SSRS(respectively,37.01±6.74,19.51 ± ±4.77,7.18±2.73,7.45± 1.75) were lower than those of the control group(respectively,40.89±8.54,23.52±2.85,11.02±2.43,9.55±2.88).The scores of adult epilepsy patients in global executive composite (GEC),behavioral regulation index(BRI) and metacognition index(MI) of BRIEF(respectively,55.12± 10.49,53.74± 10.35,56.60± 10.99) were significantly higher than those of the control group (respectively,48.10± 6.3,47.18± 5.84,48.16± 6.23) (P<0.01).SSRS scores,subjective support,objective support and support utilization were obviously negative to BRIEF scores,behavioral regulation index (BRI) and metacognition index (MI) (P< 0.01).Seizure type and SSRS scores were closely related to BRIEF (P<0.01).Conclusion The epilepsy patients show a lack of social support and ecological executive function dysfunction.The lack of social support is significantly related with ecological executive dysfunction.
4.Eye Movement Research on Comprehension Monitoring in Reading between Students with and without Hearing Impairment

Objective To compare the comprehension monitoring in reading between students with and without hearing impairment. Methods An error detection paradigm and an eye-movement recordings method were used in two samples of hearing impairment students and no-hearing impairment students with passages that contained inconsistencies with interval 2 sentences, 4 sentences, 6 sentences and 8 sentences. Results The scores of reading comprehension, the index of tradition monitoring and the index of eye movement were lower in the hearing impairment students than in the no-hearing impairment students (P<0.05). Conclusion The comprehension monitoring ability in reading is poor in the hearing impairment students.
5.Study on Improvement Effect of Z-Guggulsterone on Coagulation and Vascular Endothelial Functions of Acute Blood-stasis Model Rats and Its Mechanism

OBJECTIVE:To study the improvement effect of Z-Guggulsterone(Z-GL)on blood coagulation and vascular endo-thelial functions of acute blood-stasis model rats and its mechanism. METHODS:40 rats were randomly divided into normal group,model group,positive group(Aspirin tablet,50 mg/kg)and Z-GL low-dose and high-dose groups(25,50 mg/kg),with 8 rats in each group. They were given relevant medicine intragastrically every 12 h,and normal group and model group were given constant volume of normal saline intragastrically for consecutive 7 times. After the fifth administration,except for normal group, those groups were given adrenalin hydrochloride subcutaneously+ice-cold water to induce acute blood-stasis model. Within 30 min after the last administration,aorta abdominalis sample were selected to detect the coagulation parameters [prothrombin time(PT), thrombin time (TT),activated partialthromboplastin time (APTT),fibrinogen (FIB)],and pathological changes of carotid artery were observed. Human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUEVCs) were divided into blank group (normal saline),model group (normal saline) and Z-GL low-concentration and high-concentration groups (25,50 μmol/L). After culturing for 24 h,the cells were exposed to glucose and oxygen deprivation for 6 h in model group and Z-GL groups. The expression of p-eNOS protein was detected. Other cells were selected,grouped,administrated and treated as above cells,and the NO level of these cells were detect-ed. RESULTS:Compared with normal group,PT,TT and APTT were all shortened in model group,while FIB content was in-creased (P<0.01);vascular endothelium was injured,and endothelial cells fell off from the wall. Compared with model group, PT,TT and APTT were prolonged in administration groups,while FIB content was decreased(P<0.05 or P<0.01);vascular en-dothelium injury was relieved. Results of p-eNOS protein and NO levels determination showed that compared with model group, p-eNOS protein and NO levels were increased in Z-GL groups(P<0.05 or P<0.01). CONCLUSIONS:Z-GL can significantly im-prove coagulation and vascular endothelium functions of blood-stasis model rats,and its mechanism may be associated with the acti-vation of eNOS and the increase of NO level.
6.Preparation of magnetic resonance molecular probe for breast cancer detection in vitro

0.05).There was remarkable low signal intensity on T2-weighed imaging and no evident artifacts for molecular probe when the concentration of Fe2+ was 20 mg/L.The least number of labeled cells detected by MR in vitro was 6?106 when the concentration of Fe2+ was 20 mg/L.Conclusion:Molecular probe,SPIO-OCT,can effectively label breast cells which express SSTR.The reasonable Fe2+ concentration of labeled cells and imaging was 20 mg/L.There is a correlation between MR signal intensity in vitro and the number of labeled cells.
7.Preliminary study of molecular imaging of human hepatoceilular carcinoma xenoggaft with Gd-based MR probe containiug arginine-glycine-aspartic acid chelate

Objective To develop a Gd-based MR probe containing arginine-glyeine-aspartic acid (RGD)motif to reveal integrin avβ3 receptor-expressed tumor.Methods Commercially available HYNICRGD conjugate with co-ligand EDDA was labeled with GdCl3,and the mixture was isolated and purified by solid phase extract(SPE)to get the entire probe Gd-EDDA-HYNIC-RGD.Human HCC cell line BEL-7402 was cultured and the cells harvested and suspended then subcutaneously inoculated into athymic nude mice for tumor growth.In vitro cell binding assay to integrin avβ3 receptor and cell viability experiments were conducted.Then in vivo,imaging of the three arms of xenografts were performed by MR scan with a dedicated animal coil at baseline and time points of 0.30,60,90 mninutes and 24 hour post-intravenous injection(P.i.) via the tail vein.Three arms of nude mice then were sacrificed for histological examination to confirm the imaging results.Results Gd-EDDA-HYNIC-RGD was successfully isolated by SPE and validity was verifled on signal enhancement througll in vitro and in vivo experiments.The T1 relaxation rate of the probe is 3.31 mmol/s:It is well tolerated to living cells when the concentration of the probe is below 0.1 μmol/ml;both BEL-7402 Hunlan Hepatocellular Carcinoma cell Iine and the tumor expressed avβ3receptor;The RGD-iigand was observed specificly binding with avβ3 receptor in vitro;The nude mice model bearing HHCC was well estabhshed.The signal intensity(SI)at the tumor site were 2247.6±39.0 at baseline and 2820.9±35.2 at 90 min p.i.respectively,the SI at 90min increased less than 25%of baseline,which is statistically different(t=-38.031,P<0.05);while the SI at muscle site were 1824.2±32.8 and 1845.8±27.2 respectively,which is not statistically different(t=-1.424,P>0.05);The signal to time curve for probe-administrated group is straightforward over time in the span of 0 to 90 minute p.i.while the control arms do not show such tendency.Conclusion Gd-EDDA-HYNIC-RGD has the potential to used as an MR probe detecting integrin avβ3 receptor-expressed tumor.This work may offer possibility of early detection and differentiation of specific tumors.
8.Application of group feedback and formative assessment in the teaching of endotracheal intubation

Objective To investigate the effect of group feedback and formative assessment respectively on teaching effectiveness of endotracheal intubation (ETI).Methods After atheoretical lecturing and theoretical test,eighty three undergraduates were randomized into concurrent-feedback group and groupfeedback group.ETIsimulation training was given respectively by providing concurrent or group feedback in the two groups,and then undergraduates received a skill assessment.After atheoretical lecturing and theoretical test,other 91 undergraduates were randomized into final-assessment group and formative-assessment group.ETIsimulationtraining and skill assessment were given in final-assessment group.Before training,first skill assessment was performed in formative-assessment group,and then feedback was delivered based on the assessment.After training,second skill assessment was given again.Skill assessment was evaluated using the criterion-based task specific checklist combined with global rating scale.t-test was used for comparison between groups.Results There was no statistical difference (P=0.212) in theoretical scores between group-feedback group,and concurrent-feedback group.Skill assessment score of group-feedback group (39.4 ± 4.9) was higher than that in concurrent-feedback group (35.4 ± 4.7),with statistical difference (P=0.000).There was no statistical difference (P=0.395) in theoretical scores between formative-assessment group and final-assessment group.Score of formative-assessment group (39.3 ± 6.2) was higher than that in final-assessment group (32.2 ± 2.4),with statistical difference (P=0.000).Conclusion Terminal feedback or formative assessment could enhance teaching effectiveness of endotracheal intubation among medical students.
9.Effect of Botulinum Toxin A on Spastic Upper Limbs Dysfunction Post Stroke

Objective To evaluate the effects of botulinum toxin type A (BTX-A) on spasticity of wrist and hand post stroke. Methods 36 patients accepted BTX-A injection were assessed with modified Ashworth scale (MAS), Upper Extremities Functional Test (UEFT), limbs position at rest, Visual Analogous Scale (VAS) for pain, modified Barthel Index (MBI), and difficulties encountered during 3 upper limb motor tasks: cleaning the affected palm, cutting the affected fingernails, putting the affected arm into the sleeve, before and 2, 4, and 12 weeks after treatment. Results The scores of MAS, VAS, UEFT and accomplishment of those tasks improved after treatment (P<0.05), from 1 week to 12 weeks. No significant improvement was observed in MBI (P>0.05). Conclusion Local BTX-A injection can reduce the spasticity and pain, and improve function of upper limbs for stroke patients.
10.Regulation of Baicalin for Serum Progesterone Level and Its Effects on Neural Functions after Cerebral Ischemia in Rats

Objective To investigate the effects of baicalin on serum progesterone and related hormones in female normal and cerebral ischemia rats; To explore whether baicalin plays a role in cerebral protection of neurological functions by regulating progesterone levels.Methods With vaginal smear method, the adult estrus female SD rats were selected and divided into normal group, baicalin normal group, and molding groups. The left side of the middle cerebral artery of rats in the molding groups was blocked to establish the permanent middle cerebral artery occlusion (pMCAO). After modeling, the rats were randomly divided into model group, baicalin treatment group, progesterone treatment group and progesterone inhibitor group. The baicalin normal group and baicalin treatment group were given intraperitoneal injection of baicalin solution; the normal group and model group were given normal saline of the same quantity; progesterone treatment group was given intramuscular injection of progesterone; progesterone inhibitor group was given intraperitoneal injection of baicalin solution and intragastric administration of mifepristone solution.The neurological function deficit scores were evaluated and rat forelimb holding power was detected by Grip Strength Meter respectively at different time points. Serum was taken from the rats and the progesterone and related hormones levels in the serum of every group were measured by ELISA. Results Compared with normal group, neurological functions of rats in molding groups were damaged, and neural functional behavior scores of different time points were the most strongly increased (P<0.001), and rat forelimb holding power was the most strongly reduced (P<0.001). 5 days after treating, baicalin showed the trend of improvement of neurological functions (P>0.05) and more significant improvement of the forelimb holding power (P<0.01); 10 days after modeling, baicalin treatment group significantly increased neural functional behavior scorce (P<0.001) and the most significantly improved the forelimb holding power (P<0.001). Compared with baicalin treatment group, the progesterone inhibitor group had a significant inhibitory effect on neural functional recovery (P<0.05) 10 days after modeling, and the group also had a significant inhibitory effect on the recovery of holding power (P<0.05) 5 days and 10 days after treating. At the same time, compared with the model group, progesterone level in baicalin treatment group increased significantly (P<0.05), and FSH and LH decreased (P>0.05).Conclusion After applying mifepristone to block progesterone, baicalin neurologic protection is significantly inhibited. The results demonstrated that baicalin may play a role in cerebral protection via up-regulating serum progesterone level.
