Microbiology 1992;0(05):-
Four specific salt-tolerant fungi for dissolving phosphate rock (FM) w ere isolated from the coastal saline soils. It was found that the biomass and a b ility to release phosphate from the materials decreased with increasing of the N aCl content. During pH7.0~8.5, the biomass and ability of to release phospho rus from the materials of FM1 decreased sharply with pH rising, but the FM2 and FM4 decreased not considerably, optimal pH for FM3 was at pH8.5. At pH9.0, the bi oma ss and ability of to release phosphorus from the materials decreased quickly. F M2 was stable at alkaline and high salt content condition.

BACKGROUND: Microglia play an important role in immune surveillance in their quiescent state, but the role of the activated microglia is under discussion. OBJECTIVE: To analyze the mechanism of activated microglia in acute cerebral infarction. METHODS: Totally 96 male Kunming mice were selected and randomly divided into four groups, including transplantation, placebo, blank control and sham operation groups. Permanent occlusion of the middle cerebral artery was performed using suture method in the mice of the transplantation, placebo and blank control groups, followed by injection of microglia suspension via subclavian vein, medium containing the same volume of microglia, and nothing, respectively, at 12 hours after modeling. In the meanwhile, the same amount of microglia suspension was injected into the mice of the sham operation group. The Zea-longa scale and brain-derived neurotrophic factor expression at 12, 24 and 72 hours after modeling, the volume of cerebral infarction and the number of nerve cells positive for microtubule-associated protein-2 at 72 hours after modeling were detected. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: The Zea-longa scale score was 0 point in the sham operation group, which was significantly lower than that in the other three groups at each time point after modeling (P < 0.01). The Zea-longa scores in the transplantation group were significantly lower than those in the placebo and blank control groups at 24 and 72 hours after transplantation (P < 0.01). The positive expression rate of brain-derived neurotrophic factor in the transplantation group was significantly higher than that in the other three groups after transplantation (P < 0.01). The sham group showed no infarction, while the size of cerebral infarction in the transplantation group was significantly lower than that in the placebo and blank control groups (P < 0.01), and the microtubule-associated protein-2 positive rate was significantly higher than that in the placebo and blank control groups (P < 0.01). These results manifest that the activated microglia can improve the survival rate of nerve cells, promote the recovery of cerebral nerve function and reduce the size of cerebral infarction.
7.Progress in metabolism and crucial enzymes of glycerol conversion to 1,3-propanediol.
Chinese Journal of Biotechnology 2007;23(2):201-205
1,3-propanediol production by microbial fermentation has become the research hot spot for its amiability with the environment. Here the molecular mechanism of glycerol bioconversion to 1,3-propanediol was outlined by elucidating the fermentation strains, metabolic pathways, regulon and key enzymes. Of enzymes, glycerol dehydrogenase, the velocity-limiting enzyme in glycerol reductive pathway, was emphatically discussed with regard to its molecular structure and reactivating factors. This paper aims to provide the basis for genetic modification of fermentation strains.

Objective To compare the effect of Acetate Sodium Potassium Magnesium Calcium and lactate ringers′ as priming solution in pediatrics with cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) during congenital heart surgery. Methods Sixty children, aged 1-6 years, weighting 8 to 20 kg, with ASA Ⅱ to Ⅲ class and with ventricular or atrial septal defect elective , received heart surgery with CPB. They were randomly divided into two groups: the lactate ringers′ group (R) and the sodium acetate, potassium, magnesium and calcium glucose injection pre-filled group (L). Levels of artery blood gas, lactic, gluclose, electrolytes were detected at the time points of induction of anesthesia (T1), aortic cross damping (T2), stopping before (T3), and closing chest later (T4). Results Levels of the blood glucose and lactic acid in the two groups post-CPB were increased (P <0.01) at T2 and T3. Lactic acid level in group L was lower than that in group R (P < 0.05), and the blood glucose level in group L was higher than that in group R (P < 0.01). No significant difference was found in the lactic acid and blood glucose post-closing chestbetween the two groups (P > 0.05). Conclusion Sodium, potassium , magnesium , calcium and glucose injection as children CPB priming crystalloid fluid could provide energy substrate, reduce lactic acid concentration, with little effect on electrolyte and blood gas.

Objective To investigate the level of serum vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in stable schizophrenia patients, and to explore the relationship between serum VEGF level and clinical symptoms. Methods Seventy-five patients with stable schizophrenia and 40 healthy controls were enrolled. The levels of serum VEGF were detected by flow multiplex protein analysis. The clinical symptoms of patients were assessed by positive and negative symptom scale (PANSS). Results The level of serum VEGF was significantly lower in patients group than in healthy control group [medians (lower and upper quartiles) were 3.77 (2.61, 5.14) pg/mL vs. 6.21 (4.37, 11.16) pg/mL, P<0.01]. There was no significant difference in serum VEGF levels between patients with different gender, smoking or family history of mental illness (P>0.05). The level of VEGF was negatively correlated with the total score of PANSS (r=-0.27, P=0.03), negative symptom subscale score (r=-0.25, P=0.04), lack of response score (r=-0.26, P=0.02), but not with other PANSS scores (P>0.05). Conclusion The serum level of VEGF in patients with stable schizophrenia is lower than that in healthy control group. There is, to some degree, a relationship between the level of VEGF and the severity of clinical symptoms in patients with stable schizophrenia.

Chinese Journal of Biotechnology 2002;18(2):212-215
The cDNA coding spinach glycolate oxidase (GO) was amplified by RT-PCR using the total RNA of spinach leaves as the template, and was cloned into cloning vector pMD18-T. After the DNA sequence was determined, the go gene was subcloned into E. coli expression vector pBV220, pET-22b(+), pTIG-Trx and pThioHisC. SDS-PAGE analysis revealed that the recombinant E. coli BL21 (DE3) (pTIG-Trx-GO) and E. coli BL21 (DE3) (pET-22b(+)-GO) expressed the predicted 38 kD glycolate oxidase, and the enzyme activity was also detected.
