Objective] To introduce Professor He Jialin's experence in treating abdominal mass with infertility. [Method] Through years of clinical learning from teacher, summarized the teacher's academic thoughts and the experiences of diagnosis and treatment. It expounds her special clinical experience from etiology and pathogenesis, fundamental law of treatment, medication characteristic, and classical proven cases. [Result] The disease covers a broad range. The typical syndromes are damp heat, phlegm, blood stasis. And blood stasis is most important. The fundamental law of treatment includes strengthening the body resistance, removing blood stasis, reducing phlegm and resolving masses, regulating menstruation. Doctor He combined traditional Chinese and western medicine, considering the comprehensive, combined with the individual constitution, emphasized the selection of herbal medicine with multiple functions. The clinical effect in the proven cases was amazing. [Conclusion] Professor He had rich experience treating abdominal mass with infertility, which might be used as reference data in clinical medicine.

Objective To evaluate the effects of mechanical stretch preconditioning on pathological stretch-induced damage to type Ⅱ alveolar epithelial cells.Methods A549 cells cultured in vitro were randomly divided into 6 groups (n =5 each)using a random number table:control group (Ⅰ group),pathological stretch group (Ⅱ group) and different time mechanical stretch preconditioning + pathological stretch group (group Ⅲ-Ⅵ).A549 cells were exposed to 20％ cyclic stretch at 0.3 Hz for 6 h in Ⅱ group.In Ⅲ-Ⅵ groups,A549 cells were exposed to 5％ cyclic stretch at 0.3 Hz for 15,30,60 and 120 min,respectively,and then exposed to 20％ cyclic stretch at 0.3 Hz for 6 h.After the end of pathological stretch,the apoptosis in cells was detected using flow cytometry and was calculated.F-actin expression was determined using flow cytometry.Results Compared with group Ⅰ,the apoptosis rate was significantly increased,and the expression of F-actin was up-regulated in Ⅱ group.Compared with group Ⅱ,the apoptosis rate was significantly increased in groups Ⅳ-Ⅵ,and the expression of F-actin was up-regulated in groups Ⅴ and Ⅵ.Conclusion Preconditioning with mechanical stretch (30-120 min) can mitigate pathological stretch-induced damage to type Ⅱ alveolar epithelial cells.

BACKGROUND:The isokinetic muscle strength test system can quantitatively testtheshoulder flexor and extensormusclesand objectively analyze the relationship between size and balance of flexor and extensor.Therefore,itcould be used forstrength trainingmonitoringas wel asprediction and rehabilitation of sports injuries. OBJECTIVE:To understand shoulder flexor and extensor strength characteristics of adolescent softbal players, and find out shortcomings in the shoulder flexor and extensor strength to provide guidance for adolescent athletes’ strength trainingandpoint out possible sports injury risks caused by imbalanced strength. METHODS:ISOMED2000 isokinetic testing system(D&R,Germany)was employedto test theisokinetic strengthofshoulderflexor andextensor of12adolescentfemalesoftbal playersfromShanghaiSports University, China. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:With the increase of test speed, the bilateral shoulder flexor and extensor peak torque, the flexor and extensor average power ratio,andthe flexor and extensor powers were reduced, but the flexor and extensor average power was on the rise. Under the same test speed,flexor and extensor peak torque, the flexor and extensor peak torque ratio, the flexor and extensor average power, the flexor and extensor average power ratio and the flexor powersof the throwing shoulderwere significantly larger thanthoseofthenon-throwingshoulder(P< 0.05), whiletheextensor peak torque and the extensor average powerof thethrowingand non-throwing shouldersshowedno significant differences (P> 0.05).Under the same test speed, bilateral shoulder homonymous flexor strength ratio was larger than that of the extensor, andthe extensor powerof the throwing shoulderwas less thanthatof the non-throwingshoulder.The ratio ofhomolateralshoulder flexor and extensor ranged from 70% to 80%. These results indicate that there is a significant difference betweentheflexor strength ofthebilateral shoulders inadolescent softbal players,but the bilateralextensor strengthis similar.Flexor fast strength and extensor maximum strengthof the throwing shoulderare lower. Besides, the isokinetic muscle strength test system canbe used toevaluate the flexor and extensor strengthinadolescent softbal athletes,based on whichcoachescangivetargetedstrength traininginadolescent softbal athletes.

[ ABSTRACT] AIM:To investigate the effect of sodium valproate ( VPA) on bleomycin-induced pulmonary fibro-sis ( PF) and its mechanism.METHODS: SD rats ( n =42 ) were randomly divided into model group and treatment group.Bleomycin at dose of 5 mg/kg was intratracheally injected to establish a rat PF model.The rats in treatment group were given normal saline (NS, 0.5 mL/d), VPA (300 mg· kg-1· d-1) or dexamethasone (DEX, 0.6 mg· kg-1· d-1 ) via intraperitoneal injection from the 14th day to the 28th day after modeling.The rats in model group were sacrificed on 0 d, 14 day and 28 d after modeling .The rats in treatment group were killed at 14th day after treatment.The effects of VPA on PF were evaluated by HE and Masson staining.The hydroxyproline ( HYP) content in the rat lung tissues was de-tected, and the expression ofα-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA) and E-cadherin was determined by Western blotting.RE-SULTS:HE staining showed that the alveolar structure and interstitial morphology in VPA group were better than those in NS group and DEX group.The level of collagen in VPA group was significantly lower than that in DEX group and NS group by determining the HYP content and Masson staining.VPA reduced the expression ofα-SMA, a mesenchymal marker pro-tein of PF, while increased the expression of epithelial marker protein E-cadherin.CONCLUSION:VPA reduces collagen content and distribution, and up-regulates the expression of the epithelial marker protein E-cadherin, while down-regulates mesenchymal marker proteinα-SMA, thereby preventing the rat lung tissues from bleomycin-induced PF.

Faced with huge demand for building public health capacity in the post-Ebola era, Africa Union has planned to establish Africa Center for Disease Control and Prevention ( Africa CDC,ACDC), with headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and at least 5 regional collaborating centers in each region of the continent .The strategic objectives of ACDC focus on building a continental integrated public health system and strengthening needed public health capacity .The current study analyzed the background , plans, development layout and strategy of ACDC , and provided references for China-Africa cooperation in the areas of public health and for the formulation of China global strategies of biosecurity and disease prevention and control .

Objective To evaluate the value of uhrasonography in diagnosing the occult dorsal carpal ganglion. Methods Sixteen patients with chronic dorsal wrist pain received ultrasound examination. Eleven ofthem were treated with surgical therapy. And they were followed up for 1-8 months. Results The ultrasound characteristics of oecuh dorsal carpal ganglion were depicted as follows;①The dorsal cortical bone of scaphoid and lunate was continued and without damage. ② An oval anecho lesion with clear boundany, smooth ganglion wall, lateral shandowing and posterior enhancement could be detected in the dorsal part of scapholunate joint. ③Color Doppler flow imaging showed there was not obvious blood flow signals inside and around the ganglion. Conclusions Uhrasonography could be acted as a routine examination technique after the X-ray examintion in the diagnosis of the the occult dorsal carpal ganglion.

Objective To establish a method for determination of trace lead in drinking water by intermittent flow HG-AFS was developed. Methods The conditions for K3Fe(CN)6-KBH4-HCl system of generation of PbH4 were optimized and interference of coexisting ions were tested. Results The fluorescence signal of blank solution was decreased evidently by treating K3Fe(CN)6 with activated carbon and the detection limit was effectively improved. The interference of coexisting ions could be suppressed in some degrees in the presence of K3[Fe(CN)6]. Under the optimized conditions, the detection limit of this method was 0.10 ?g/L and RSD(n=6) was in the rang 0.4%-3.8%. The recovery rate was 95.0%-112.0%. Conclusion This method was accurate, simple, sensitive and suitable for determination of trace lead in drinking water.
