1.Mathematical Analysis of Yin-Yang Wu-Xing Model in TCM
Journal of Acupuncture and Tuina Science 2008;6(5):269-270
According to Traditional Chinese Medicine, the functional structure of human body is composed of five functional subsystems which are based on the five-organs concept, and the relationship between them could be expatiated with Wu-Xing (Five-Elements) theory. Wu-Xing system is taken as our research object. The dynamic model has the characteristic of self-organization. There is only one stable point with local stability in the five-dimensional space. There exists an instability domain in the five-dimensional space. The stability domain is unbounded; it contains some special subdomains, including rectilineal subdomains, ray subdomains and line subdomains. In some ray subdomains, there exists comeback summits, the peak value of the comeback summit is comeback threshold. The existence of the comeback threshold means that, if the human body wants to go back to the healthy state from a certain special state which corresponded to the initial conditions located in a domain with comeback summit, it has to get across the comeback threshold. The comeback threshold is the division of the healthy state and the sub-healthy state. Some research work is done to investigate the response of the Wu-Xing dynamic model to the impact stimulation, and results in the decrease of the system's comeback threshold. There are 3 manners to achieve this goal, and they tally with the principle of the Wu-Xing system and the experimental rules in clinic.
2.THE SEGMENTAL DISTRIBUTION OF THE AFFERENT NEURONS TRAVERSING THE STELLATE GANGLION OF THE CAT——A STUDY USING HRP METHOD
Acta Anatomica Sinica 1957;0(04):-
The segmental distribution of the afferent fibers traversing the stellate ganglia was studied with HRP techinque in 33 cats. The animals were divided into two groups. In one group HRP was injected into the stellate ganglion of one side. Labelled cells were found in ipsilateral spinal ganglia from C_4 to T_9. The majority of these cells (84.49%) were distribued in T_1 to T_5 segments. There is no conspicuous difference between the left and right in respect to the segmental and the pattern distribution of labelled cells. The majority of the labelled cells were medium or small sized (

Objective:To study the difference of upper airway form and hyoid position of the adults with different vertical facial types. Methods:Cephalograms of 120 adults with different vertical facial types were retrospectively investigated by computerized cephalometric analysis.Upper airway depths and hyoid position were measured, and differences were compared between male and female, also compared among different vertical facial type groups. Results:The sagittal depth of upper airway in male was larger than that in female, but there was no statistical difference except V-LPW.Among different vertical facial types, the sagittal depths of upper airway in high angle group was smaller than that in average angle group and low angle group. There was statistical difference in hyoid position between genders,AH-SN,AH-FH and AH-C3 in male were larger than in female(P
5.Influences of carbon dioxide pneumoperitoneum and operating position on intraocular pressure during laparoscopic surgery
The Journal of Clinical Anesthesiology 2009;25(5):398-400
Objective To investigate the influences of carbon dioxide (CO2) pneumoperitoneum and operation position on intraocular pressure (IOP) during laparoscopic surgery under general anesthesia. Methods Thirty-six patients were divided into two groups of udergoing laparoscopic pelvic surgeries (group A) and udergoing laparoscopic cholecytectomies(group B) with 18 cases each. The patients in group A were operated under 25 degrees head-down position and those in group B under 25 degrees head-up position. IOP was recorded before surgery(T0), at 5 min after tracheal intubation (T1), 5 min after CO2 pneumoperitoneum(T2), 5 min(T3) and 30 min(T4) after body position changed and the time of normal PETCO2 regained(T5). Results IOP was remarkably decreased after induction of general anesthesia in both groups. IOP of group A raised to (21.0±1.6) mm Hg at T4, which was dropped to (14. 6±1.6) mm Hg at T5. IOP of group B raised to (12.1±2.9) mm Hg at T4,which was dropped to (11.1±1.2) mm Hg at T5. Changes of IOP of both groups were positively correlated with the changes of PETCO2. Conclusion IOP can be decreased remarkably after induction of general anesthesia with propofol. The head-up position and normal range of PETCO2 are the two important factors to avoid an increase of IOP in surgical patients under general anesthesia.

Objective To investigate the location of CYLD in the neurons and explore the expression of CYLD in OGD/reperfusion-induced neuronal necroptosis. Methods Primary cortical neurons were cultured for 6days and neuronal purity was observed by double staining immunofluorescence of β3-tubulin and DAPI.The location of CYLD was identified by double staining immunofluorescence of NeuN,DAPI and CYLD using primary cortical neurons cultured for 14 days. Then, primary cortical neurons were divided into 8 groups:Control,EBSS,DMSO,OGD/reperfusion(0 h,2 h,6 h,8 h,12 h).Neurons were pretreated with zVAD-fmk for 30 min,OGD for 2 h and the levels of CYLD were evaluated after reoxygenation at different time points. The peak value(8 h) was chosen as reoxygenation time point.Neurons were divided into two groups as Control and OGD.The levels of CYLD were determined in both cytoplasm and nucleus after OGD 2 h and reoxygenation 8 h.Results The double staining immunofluorescence showed that neuronal cultured purity was about 70% and the CYLD strongly expressed in nucleus but weakly in cytoplasm. The levels of CYLD increased gradually with different reoxygenation time and arrived at peak value after reoxygenation for 8 h (P < 0.05),which was in accordance with the change of LDH (P <0.05) (Control (1.00±0.00),EBSS (1.07 ±0.03),DMSO (1.09 ±0.03),0h (1.40±0.12),2 h (1.74±0.08),6 h (2.25 ± 0.12),8 h (2.97 ± 0.15),12 h (3.01 ± 0.08)).The level of cytoplasm CYLD increased significantly in the OGD group (reoxygenation for 8 h)than that in control group (P<0.05).But the level of nucleus CYLD had no difference between OGD and control group (P > 0.05),which was in accordance with the results of immunofluorescence. Conclusion The CYLD in neurons cytoplasm is involved in necroptosis induced by OGD/deprivation and downregulating of CYLD has a protective effect on the brain injury resulted from ischemia/ reperfusion.

To sacrifice the function of the sphincter of Oddi in the routine management of iatrogenic biliary injury,e.g. by using cholangio-enterostomies, is often complicated by ascending biliary infection, cholangitis and an increased risk of cholangiocarcinoma. It is necessary to find a material which can protect the bile duct. As reported, biodegradable materials which are hopeful to be used clinically have the advantages of being non-immunogenic, gives temporary supportive function, and produces harmless degradation products. This article aims to review the advances in researches on biodegradable materials for bile duct repair.
