OBJECTIVE: To study the effect of compound glycyrrhizin on hepatic function and hepatic fibrosis of patients with chronic hepatitis B. To identify the isolated suspicious strain of Campylobacter jejuni from the blood of bacteremia patient in Guizhou Province ,China ,conventional and molecular techniques (specific mPCR and NAP-mPCR) were used to identify suspi-cious bacteria strains .Results showed that Campylobacter jejuni suspicious colonies were cultured in bacteremia patient blood samples .The strain was identified as Campylobacter jejuni ssp . jejuni by conventional tests and was identified as Campy-lobacter jejuni by genus specific mPCR .Then the strain was classified as Campylobacter jejuni ssp . jejuni by subspecies NAP-mPCR .The strain was identified as Campylobacter jejuni ssp .jejuni isolated from the blood of bacteremia patient and Campylobacter jejuni can be identified subspecies by NAP-mPCR .

Objective To observe the alteration of bone metabolism and to study the pathogenesis of osteoporosis and factors in elderly patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases (COPD). Methods The biochemical markers of bone metabolism, bone mineral density (BMD) of the lumbar spine and the right femur, parameters of calcaneal quantitative ultrasound(QUS), blood partial pressure and pulmonary functions in 39 male patients with COPD and 30 controls were measured. Results The broadband ultrasonic attenuation (BUA) and the speed of sound (SOS), BMD of the lumbar spines and the femur were significantly lower than that in control group. Objective To study the expression level of PKM1 and PKM2 in colorectal cancer tissue and explore the relationship between colorectal cancer progression and their expression level.Methods The PKM1 and PKM2 protein expression levels in colorectal cancer tissues and adjacent tissues to carcinoma were determined by Western blot and Immunohistochemisty method, and the relationship with colorectal cancer were discussed. Results Western blot and Immunohistochemisty results all showed that, compared with adjacent noncancerous, the protein level of PKM1 decreases significantly in cancer tissues (P<0.05), while the protein level of PKM2 increases significantly in cancer tissues (P<0.05).The protein level of PKM1 is not relative with age,sex and stage of patients, but the protein level of PKM2 is relative with pTNM(P<0.05).Conclusion Colorectal cancer tissues with low level of PKM1 and high level of PKM2, and PKM2 was related with TNM of patients.

Objective Obesity is one of the risk factors for gout.The aim of the present study was to evaluate clinical characteristics of gout patients with different BMI.Methods A total of 5 104 patients with gout were enrolled and divided into three groups according to the BMI.The clinical information was collected and relevant biochemical indices were detected.SPSS software was applied for the statistical analyses.Results There were significant differences in the ratios of gender,regular exercise,hypertension,tophus,renal insufficiency,hyperlipidemia,impaired glucose metabolism,liver dysfunction among the three groups (all P＜0.01).The onset age in overweight [45(36,55) years] and obese subjects [40(31,50)years] were earlier than that of the normal weight subjects [50 (38,61) years].Moreover,waist circumstances [103(99,108) cm and 94 (90,98) cm vs 87 (82,91) cm],systolic pressure [130 (120,145) mmHg (1 mmHg =0.133 kPa) and 130 (120,140) mmHg vs 128 (115,140) mmHg],diastolic pressure [90 (80,100) mmHg and 85 (80,92) mmHg vs 80 (79,90) mmHg],fasting blood glucose [5.77 (5.30,6.44) mmol/L and 5.65 (5.19,6.26) mmol/L vs 5.55 (5.10,6.15) mmol/L],TG [2.10 (1.46,3.04) mmol/L and1.88 (1.35,2.78) mmol/L vs 1.52 (1.07,2.39) mmol/L],TC [5.20 (4.55,5.93) mmol/L and 5.07 (4.46,5.75) mmol/L vs 4.95 (4.27,5.65) mmol/L],serum uric acid [483(418,552) μmol/L and461(395,524) μmol/L vs440 (368,517) μmol/L],ALT [30 (21,46) U/L and25 (18,36) U/L vs 21 (14,29) U/L],AST [21(17,28) U/L and 20 (17,26) U/L vs 20 (6,25) U/L],the number of joints involved [2 (1,3) joints and 2 (1,2) joints vs 1 (1,2) joints] in the overweight and obese groups were higher than those in the normal weight group (all P ＜ 0.01).There were no statistical differences in family history,involvement of upper limb joints,kidney stones and coronary heart disease among the three groups (all P ＞ 0.05).Conclusions Obesity is associated with an earlier age of gout onset.With the increase of BMI,the blood pressures,glucose,lipid,serum uric acid,liver transaminase levels and the number of involved joints increased gradually.Cautions should be taken in treating patients with different BMI.

Objective To observe the different changes of macular microstructure in patients with large idiopathic macular hole (IMH) treated with vitrectomy combined with internal limiting membrane (ILM) transplantation or not.Methods Forty eyes in 40 consecutive patients with giant IMH (≥500 μm) were included in the study.Twenty eyes received vitrectomy with ILM transplantation (ILM transplantation group) and others with ILM peel off (ILM removal group).During the operation,a proper size of the ILM was removed and filled in the bottom of the macular hole.The age,duration of disease and the ocular laterality of the two groups of patients were not statistically significant (P＞0.05).Minimum resolution angle in logarithmic (logMAR) best corrected visual acuity (BCVA) and frequency domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT) scan were examined.There was no statistically significant difference in logMAR BCVA,average defect diameter of photoreceptor ellipsoid (IS/OS) and average defect diameter of external limiting membrane (ELM) between two groups (t=0.128,1.452,1.321;P＞0.05).The logMAR BCVA and SD-OCT were examined on 1,3,6,12 months postoperatively.Results On 1 month after the surgery,there was no statistically significant difference in logMAR BCVA,average defect diameter of IS/OS and average defect diameter of ELM between two groups (t=1.226,1.435,1.018;P＞0.05).On 3,6,12 months after the surgery,compared with ILM removal group,the logMAR BCVA (t=2.059,2.871,2.415) increased and the average defect diameter of IS/OS (t =2.070,2.110,2.121) and ELM (t =2.034,3.647,3.556) significantly reduced in ILM transplantation group (P＜0.05).On 1 month after the surgery,there was statistically significant difference in CRT between two groups (t=2.113,P＜0.05).On 3,6,12 months after the surgery,there was no statistically significant difference in CRT between two groups (t=0.428,0.847,0.849;P＞0.05).Conclusion Compared with vitrectomy combined with ILM peeling surgery,the diameter of IS/OS and ELM defect were significantly decreased after vitrectomy combined with ILM transplantation in the patients with large IMH.

Objective To explore the changes in the endogenous sulfur dioxide (SO2) pathway in the myocardial hypertrophy induced by the angiotensin Ⅱ (Ang Ⅱ) in mice.Methods Fourteen healthy C57BL mice,9 weeks old,were randomly divided into control group(n =7) and Ang Ⅱ group(n =7),and capsule osmotic pump with pre loaded 9 g/L saline and Ang Ⅱ was implanted into the back of each mouse subcutaneously.Mter 2 weeks,the mice were executed.The heart weight/body weight (HW/BW) and the left heart weight/full heart weight (LVW/HW) of the mice were measured.The microstructure of the cardiac myocyte was observed by hematoxylin-eosin (HE) staining under the microscope.The expression of myocardial alpha myosin heavy chain (α-MHC) was detected by immunohistochemistry and Western blot methods.SO2 enzymes aspartate aminotransferase 1 (AAT1) and AAT2 protein expression were detected by Western blot method.Myocardial SO2 content and AAT activity were measured by high performance liquid chromatography with fluorimetric detection and colometric method.Results Compared with control group,the HW/BW and LVW/HW in mice of Ang Ⅱ group were significantly increased (all P ＜ 0.O1),the cardiac myocytes were hypertrophy,and α-MHC positive staining in the cytoplasm of myocardium was weakened.Moreover,Western blot data showed that α-MHC protein expression in heart tissue of Ang Ⅱ-treated mice was decreased significantly (allP ＜ 0.05).Simultaneously,the data showed that AAT2 protein expression,SO2 content and AAT activity in heart tissue of Ang Ⅱ-treated mice were also decreased markedly[(1.093 ±0.131) μ mol/g protein vs.(0.737 ±0.233) μmol/g protein,P ＜ 0.05;(7.979 ± 1.317) U/rmg protein vs.(6.470 ± O.516) U/mg protein,P ＜ 0.01].Furthermore,there was a negative correlation between LVW/HW and cardiac SO2 content in heart tissue (r =-0.56,P ＜ 0.05).Conclusions Myocardial endogenous SO2/AAT2 pathway is down-regulated in the development of myocardial hypertrophy induced by Ang Ⅱ in mice.
