Objective To investigate the relationship between cleftpalate and secretory otitis media so that the secretory otitis media resulted from cleftpalate was treated and prevented effectively. Methods 116 children with cleftpalate and 73 normal children were investigated by tympanogram, hearing threshold and auditory brain response. Results The incidence of secretory otitis media and hearing loss had significant difference between the two groups. Conclusions Children with cleftpalate had high incidence of secretory otitis media and hearing loss. We should pay more attention to the treatment and prevention of secretory otitis media in children with cleftpalate. It is necessary for the cleftpalate children to insert the tympanal pressure equalization tubes while palatal surgery is performed.

Objective: To revise the Griffith Mental Development Scales and establish the norm being suited to the Chinese local conditions. Methods: The standardized sample consisted of 2022 children aged 0 to 7 years old was collected in a stratified and random way according to city rank, age, sex, paternal occupations. Each subject was tested individually and filled in a form. Results: The total sample had better representation. The mean of GQ was about 100, and the distribution of GQ is normal. Item analysis indicated that the item difficulty was about 0.5 and discrimination was from 0.62 to 0.78. A few orders of items were revised. The scorer reliability was 0.953. The test-retest reliability was 0.948. The correlation coefficients were 0.481 to 0.854 among the sub-scales or between sub-scales and General DQ. The result of exploratory factor analysis had three factors. The ratio of variance was 79.8%.Conclusion:Griffith Mental Development Scales have ideal reliability and validity.

Result and Conclusion The contents of organ chlorine pesticide residuals are up to “Green Trade Standards of Importing & Exporting Medicinal plants & Preprations” (MOFTEC, 2001), but the contents are different among Bulpleurum chinense DC. cultivated in different distract of Dingxi.

OBJECTIVE To improve the managerial level of hospital infection by the hospital infection control system through network information.METHODS The control system was installed software in the doctor workstation to realize the real-time monitoring and early warning on hospital infection.RESULTS The passive situation of previous retrospective investigation was changed and the prospective and dynamic monitoring on hospital infection,was realized to move forward the gateway of hospital infection control,facilitate the timely detection on epidemic trend of hospital infection and the clue of outbreak and substitute the previous operations by hands on data processing,statistical analysis and submitting.CONCLUSIONS Full use of hospital information system can promote the hospital infection management.

OBJECTIVE: To construct nasopharyngeal carcinoma CNE-2 cell lines expressing stable fusion suicide gene CD/UPRT. UL49. METHOD: The plasmids of pcDNA3.1 (-)E6. BARF1p. CD/UPRT. UL49 was transfected into CNE-2 cells through lipofectamine, and the transfected CNE-2 cells were selected by G418 and prodrugs for getting the cells expressing fusion CD/UPRT. UL49 gene. The protein produced by the suicide gene was tested by Western-blotting in CNE-2 cells. RESULT: Suicide genes were expressed stably in CNE-2 cells. CONCLUSION We constructed nasopharyngeal carcinoma cell lines CNE-2 expressing stable suicide gene through lipofectamine.

Objective To investigate the expression of procalcitonin (PCT) and C-reactive protein (CRP),and endotoxin in bloodstream infection with different microorganisms,so as to assess the value of these inflammatory cytokines in early diagnosis of sepsis in bloodstream infections patients.Methods Data of 152 septic bloodstream infected patients with 90 male and 62 female aged from 62 to 102 years and 79.2 ± 16.3 years in average admitted from January 2012 to December 2013 were analyzed retrospectively.According to the results of blood culture,the microorganisms could be categorized into gram-negative bacteria,gram-positive bacteria and fungus groups,and the levels of serum CRP,PCT,and endotoxin were compared among these groups of bloodstream infections patients within 24 hours after admission.Results (1) A total of 152 strains of microorganisms were surveyed including 92 gram-negative strains (61.18％),43 gram-positive strains (28.29％),and 16 fungal strains (10.53％).In the gram-negative strains,Klebsiella pneumoniae (n =29),Acinetobacter baumannii (n =24),Escherichia coli (n =23),Burkholderia cepacia (n =9) and Pseudomonas aeruginosa (n =4) were the most common isolates.In the Gram-positive strains,13 strains of Staphylococcus aureus were isolated.(2) In the gram-negative bacterial bloodstream infections group,there were 60 (64.52％) patients with endotoxin positive,and there were no endotoxin positive cases with detected gram-positive bacteria and fungal bloodstream infections.The median levels of PCT were significantly different among the three groups [gram-negative strains group:7.760 (3.365,28.585) ng/mL,gram-positive strains group:0.705 (0.265,3.225) ng/mL,fungal infection group:1.245 (0.543,1.998) ng/mL].In the fungal bloodstream infection group,the mean level of CRP was higher than that in other two groups [gram-negative strains group:(126.01 ± 66.53) mg/L,gram-positive strains group:(77.58 ±54.21) mg/L,fungal infection group:(140.14 ±71.21) mg/L].(3) The receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve of inflammatory cytokines was made for the diagnostic value in bloodstream infections.ROC curve used to distinguish between gram-positive bacterial bloodstream infections group and fungal group showed that AUCPCT+CRP =0.791.When PCT cut-off value was 0.92 ng/mL,and CRP cut-off value was 68.00 mg/L,the sensitivity was 50％ and the specificity was 95.5％.ROC curve used to distinguish between the gram-negative bacterial bloodstream infections group and fungal group showed that AUCPCT+CRP+LPS =0.947.When PCT cut-off value was 2.16 ng/mL and CRP cutoff value was 94.10 mg/L,and endotoxin was positive,the sensitivity was 82.8％ and the specificity was 100％.ROC curve used to distinguish between gram-negative bacterial bloodstream infections group and gram-positive bacterial group showed that AUCPCT+CRP+LPS =0.947.When PCT cut-off value was 2.68 ng/ mL,CRP cut-off value was 106.5 mg/L,endotoxin was positive,the sensitivity was 74.2％ and the specificity was 97.7％.Conclusions Gram-negative bacteria were the most common microorganisms in bloodstream infections in ICU patients.Compared with single inflammatory cytokine,the serum concentrations of PCT,CRP and endotoxin used together could provide more sensitivity and specificity for the early diagnosis of bloodstream infection with different microorganisms.

BACKGROUND:Many studies have showed that Sonic Hedgehog (Shh) signal pathway regulates the proliferation and differentiation of nerve cels, axon guidance and neural regeneration after brain injury. OBJECTIVE:To summarize the role of Shh signal pathway in embryonic development and post-natal nerve repair. METHODS:A computer-based retrieval was performed by the first author in PubMed and CNKI database to search related papers published from January 1980 to July 2015 using the keywords of “Shh signal pathway, embryogenesis, neural regeneration” in English and Chinese, respectively. Articles related to Shh signal pathway in embryonic cels differentiation, tissue development, post-natal neural regeneration, axon migration and tumor formation. A total of 38 relevant literatures were retrieved. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: Recently, Shh signal pathway has become an issue of concern because this signal pathway is closely related with neural regeneration after brain injury. Shh is widely expressed in Hedgehog (Hh) family and plays a crucial role in embryogenesis and organogenesis. Shh is wel known to contribute to the patterning of neural tube system, regulate the proliferation and migration of progenitor cels, and control axonal growth and guidance. In addition, Shh is closely related to tumor formation. Studies have shown that Shh can reduce infarct volume and improve behavior prognosis of stroke rats.

Objective To research the relationship between high temperature and population death in cardio-cerebrovascular diseases in Shijiazhuang.Methods The time series of maximum daily temperature and daily death number of cardio-cerebrovascular diseases were described,and the relationship between daily maximum temperature and daily mortality of cardio-cerebrovascular diseases in summer was analyzed.The impact of daily highest temperature in summer from 2009 to 2011 on daily death of cardio-cerebrovascular diseases was analyzed.Results In summer,the highest temperature which could reach to 41.7℃ emerged mostly in July and August,and when the highest temperaiure was higher than 34℃,cardio-cerebrovascular diseases death increased obviously as the temperature increasing.The relative humidity was more than 70％ in most time of the year round.The excessive death in hot days accounted for 10.9％ in which the old people occupied the majority.Conclusion The extreme high temperature may obviously increase the cardio-cerebrovascular death in Shijiazhuang.

Objective To evaluate the effect of managed health education on psychological and nutritional status of patients with HBV-related cirrhosis and ascites.Methods One hundred and twenty one patents with decompensated HBV-related cirrhosis were enrolled for health education and randomly divided into two groups:61 patients received managed health education (trial group) and 60 received conventional health education (control group).In control group patients were informed with their condition and diet note by medical orders.In control group the hepatologists evaluated the baseline condition,nutritional status and quality of life,set up personal files of patients and followed up with communication and counselling periodically from June 2010 to August 2012.The psychological conditions were assessed with self-rating anxiety scale (SAS) and self-rating depression scale (SDS) ; nutritional status was assessed with triceps skinfold thickness (TSF) and mid-arm muscle circumference (MAMC) and the quality of life was assessed with MOS 36-item shoort from healthy survey (SF-36).Results Before health education,there was no statistical difference in the scores of SAS,SDS,TSF,SF-36 and blood Hb,albumin (Alb) levels between two groups.After health education,scores of SAS and SDS were decreased in both groups (P ＜ 0.0l),however,which in trial group were lower than those in control group (39.9 ±8.8 vs.49.0 ±9.4 and 40.6 ± 8.8 vs.51.9 ± 10.1 respectively,both P ＜0.01).The TSF scores and blood Hb and Alb levels in trial group were higher than those in control group (P ＜ 0.05).The accunulated scores of 8 dimensions in SF-36 forms in trial group were significantly higher than those in control group (P ＜ 0.01).Conclusion The managed health education model can better release psychological pressures,decrease mental disorders,elevate nutrition status,promote health and improve quality of life than conventional health education for patients with HBV-related cirrhosis and ascites.

Objective To investigate the effects of 5-Aza-CdR( methylation transferase inhibitor) on the expression levels of leptin gene in chondrocytes and methylation states of leptin promoter region between osteoarthritis (OA) group and control. Methods The chondrocytes in osteoarthritis group were treated with 5-Aza-CdR with different doses and time-points, and the expression level of leptin was detected by real-time polymerase chain reaction for picking up the optimum dose and time-point. Next, the chondrocytes in 5 osteoarthritis patients and 5 control patients (amputation due to severe trauma) were treated with 5-Aza-CdR. Lastly, leptin mRNA expression levels in the four groups osteoarthritis and control chondrocytes treated with/without 5-Aza-CdR were measured by real-time PCR and the methylation state of promoter region ( - 280- + 79) was detected by epityper quantitative DNA methylation analysis. Results ( 1 ) After treating the chondrocytes in OA groups with 10 μmol/L 5-Aza-CdR for 72 h, the mRNA expression levels of leptin were increased significantly. ( 2 ) The mRNA expression levels of leptin were significantly different among the four groups ( P ＜ 0. 05 ), and the chondrocytes in osteoarthritis groups treated with 5-Aza-CdR showed a marked induction of leptin mRNA expression. (3) Analysis of quantitative methylation data using an unsupervised hierarchical clustering algorithm, showed that methylation patterns of leptin promoter was different between control and osteoarthritis chondrocyte treated with/without 5-Aza-CdR. Conclusion Demethylation of leptin promoter might up-regulate leptin gene expression level and it might contribute to osteoarthritis.
