Thyroid hormones (TH) play an imp or tant role in the development and maturity of the mammalian brain. Maternal TH de ficiency, even subclinical hypothyroidism, leads to poor neurodevelopment of the fetus. Screening of pregnant women for hypothyroidism is recommended. Identific ation of the TH-responsive genes in the developing brain and investigation on t heir functions are helpful to provide insights into the molecular mechanisms by which TH influence brain development.
4.The expression and clinical signiifcance of miR-221 in plasma of patients with small cell lung cancer

Background and purpose:MicroRNAs (miRNAs, miR) are directly involved in cancer initiation, progression and metastasis. Alterations of miRNAs expression in cancer tissue may be reflected in circulation. We attempted to investigate the expression and clinical signiifcance of plasma miR-221 in patients with small cell lung cancer (SCLC). The plasma and tissues levels of miR-221 in 51 SCLC patients and 20 controls were evaluated and compared among various clinicopathological characteristics. Methods: Confirmation of higher miR-221 levels in primary SCLC tissues than normal lung tissues. Evaluation of plasma miR-221 concentrations by comparing results from 51 consecutive SCLC patients and 20 healthy volunteers. Evaluation of the assay for monitoring tumour dynamics in SCLC patients. Results:Expression of miR-221 was signiifcantly higher in SCLC tissues than in para-carcinoma tissues and normal lung tissues. Plasma miR-221 concentrations were signiifcantly higher in SCLC patients than those in normal people (P<0.05). The expression of plasma miR-221 was not associated with gender, and age (P>0.05), correlated with significantly chemosensitivity, overall survival and clinical stage (P<0.05). Cox regression analysis indicated that plasma miR-221 expression and disease stage were found to be significantly independent prognostic factors for the SCLC patients. Conclusion: Plasma miR-221 could be a useful biomarker for cancer detection, monitoring tumour dynamics and predicting malignant outcomes in SCLC patients, and may contribute to clinical decision making in treatments.
5.Influence of CRRT on the functions of monocyte in patients with severe acute renal failure

Objective To investigate the effect of continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) on the function of monocyte in patients with severe acute renal failure (ARF).Methods The function of monocyte in 42 patients with ARF accepting CRRT was dynamically observed and compared with that of healthy people.Results Cytokine secreting function of monocyte in patients with ARF was stronger than that in healthy people[TNF-α:(1 212.61 ±107.43) vs (857.34 ±83.45) ng/L,IL-6:(2 518.22 ±228.22) vs (1 948.13 ±218.23) ng/L,IL-8:(416.18 ±54.46) vs (229.31 ± 39.83) ng/L] (t =6.47,7.09,6.45,all P < 0.05) 48 h after CRRT,cytokine secreting function declined to normal.Conclusion CRRT corrects the disorder of cytokine secreting function of monocyte in patients with ARF,decreases the inflammation response.
6.Long-term therapeutic effect of Ruangan Pills on advanced schistosomiasis patients with ascites

Objective To evaluate the long-term therapeutic effect of Ruangan pills on advanced schistosomiasis combined with ascites. Methods The data of 54 advanced schistosomiasis patients with ascites were collected,and the patients were divid-ed into two groups namely a treatment group and a control group according to whether taking Ruangan pills. The effective rates,im-provement status of symptoms and levels of serum albumin(ALB)and hyaluronic acid(HA)of the two groups were compared. Re-sults The effective rates of the treatment group and control group were 92.59%and 44.44%,respectively,and the difference be-tween them was statistically significant(P<0.05). After the treatment for 9 and 12 months,the percentages of patients without as-cites and patients with symptom improvement in the treatment group were 77.78%and 92.59%,92.59%and 96.30%,respective-ly,while those in the control group were 29.63%and 37.00%,48.15%and 51.85%,respectively,and the differences between the two groups by different time were all statistical significant(all P<0.05). After the treatment for 9 months,the percentages of patients with the normal levels of ALB and HA were 88.89% and 59.26%,while those in the control group were 40.74% and 14.81%,respectively,and the differences between the two groups were statistically significant(both P < 0.05). Conclusion The long-term treatment of Ruangan pills can not only improve clinical symptoms but also control the ascites recurrence,however, the therapeutic effect and the recurrence rate of ascites in longer-term still need further observation.
7.Application of stepwise discriminatory analysis to blood coagulation function diagnosis

Objective To determine the changes of coagulation indexes of rabbits struck at different levels and sieve the traditional coagulation indexes, such as activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT), prothrombin time (PT), thrombin time (TT) and fibrinogen (FIB). Methods We used correlation analysis to precondition the data to reject indexes, and used stepwise discriminatory analysis to choose indexes and made the diagnosis by multiple linear discrimination analysis. Then, by random sampling we compared the correct diagnostic rate by 4 indexes with that by 3 indexes. Results The correct discrimination rate of blood coagulation function diagnosis in rabbits was up to 87.60% by the four indexes and 96.12% with the three indexes (APTT, PT and TT). The average correct discrimination rate of blood coagulation function diagnosis in 1 000-time random sampling was up to 83.07% by the four indexes and 85.16% by the three indexes. Conclusion Stepwise discriminatory analysis can be used to discriminate hemorrhage from thromboxane. The correct diagnostic rate gets higher when FIB was rejected.
8.The detection and clinical significance of insulin-like growth factor binding protein-3 in the serum of patients with hepatocellular carcinoma

9.Transfusion of blood components in liver transplantation and abdominal multiple organ transplantation

BACKGROUND:The liver transplantation and abdominal multiple organ transplantation are complicated surgeries, characterized by massive blood loss and high blood transfusion requirements. OBJECTIVE:To explore the characteristics of blood loss and blood transfusion in liver transplantation and abdominal multiple organ transplantation and post-operative survival rate. METHODS:Clinical data from 192 patients were retrospectively analyzed, including blood transfusion data with the first 24 hours after surgery and post-operative survival rate. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:These 192 patients included 177 patients receiving liver transplantation, 2 patients receiving liver and kidney transplantation and 13 patients receiving abdominal multiple organ transplantation. The average intra-operative blood loss of each patient was (2 401.5±3 239.5) mL. The average infusion of red blood cel s, platelet, cryoprecipitate and frozen plasma of each patient at the first 24 hours after surgery was (11.3±11.9), (0.8±0.9), (10.7±11.7) U and (2 805.5±1 393.1) mL, respectively. Al kinds of blood infusion in the liver cancer group were obviously less than those in the hepatic failure group. The infusion of cryoprecipitate and frozen plasma in the cirrhosis group was obviously less than that in the hepatic failure group, but the infusion of platelet in the cirrhosis group was significantly more than that in the liver cancer group. The infusion of red blood cel s from July 2013 to June 2015 was significantly less than that from July 2012 to June 2013. The blood loss, infusion of red blood cel s and frozen plasma in the liver transplantation group of cirrhosis were significantly more than those in the abdominal multiple organ transplantation group of cirrhosis (al P<0.05). In conclusion, diagnosis of liver diseases, and the maturity of surgery exert an effect on the blood loss and blood infusion. As the development of liver transplantation and abdominal multiple organ transplantation, both the blood loss and blood infusion are decreased. Besides, compared with liver transplantation, the blood loss and blood infusion show no increase in the abdominal multiple organ transplantation.
10.Effect of hypothyroidism on oxidative stress status in developing rat brain

Objective To study the effect of hypothyroidism on oxidative stress status in developing rat brain and to further explore the mechanism of impaired brain development caused by hypothyroidism. Methods Perinatal hypothyroidism was induced by administering propylthiouracil(PTU) solution to the dams by gavage.The oxidative stress indexes were measured in brain homogenate of normal and hypothyroid pups which were sacrificed on the 21st d after birth. Results As compared to the control,the following indexes were found to be increased in the hypothyroid group: protein carbonyl contents,thiobarbital acid reactive substances,reduced glutathione,total antioxidative capacity,activities of superoxide dismutase and glutathione peroxidase(P0.05). Conclusion Hypothyroidism during rat brain development may cause oxidative stress,which may be related to the brain damage caused by hypothyroidism.
