Objective To explore the clinical therapeutic effects of Ⅰ-stage or delayed Ⅰ-stage cervical plexus reinnervation for recurrent laryngeal nerve(RLN)injuries. Methods During the process of neck dissection of papillary thyroid carcinoma,18 cases with recurrent laryngeal nerve deficit underwent cervical plexus reinnervation on Ⅰ-stage or delayed Ⅰ-stage RLN prosthosis basis.Therapeutic effects were evaluated by fibrolaryngoscope and voice evaluation preoperatively and postoperatively. Results All the cases were followed-up for 3 months to 2 years(average 8 months).Abductory motion of the vocal cords of 16 patients totally or partly restored,and not improved in 2 patients,with the recovery rate of abductory motion of the paralyzed vocal cords of 88.9%(16/18).Patient's phonation was restored totally or partially in 16 cases and the hoarseness was ameliorated significantly. Conclusions Cervical plexus-RLN reinnervation should be considered as a suitable treatment for unilateral vocal cord paralysis.One stage or delayed one stage cervical plexus reinnervation for recurrent laryngeal nerve injury is convenient and easy to perform.Postoperatively the abductory motion of vocal cord could be restored by this reinnervation satisfactorily.

Objective To introduce the processes of vascularized parathyroid gland reservation and parathyroid autotransplantation applied in thyroidectomy. Methods In 46 cases who underwent total/near total thyroidectomy, in situ vascularized parathyroid gland reservation was performed in 24 cases,isolated parathyroid autotransplantation was performed in 5 cases, in situ vascularized parathyroid gland reservation of 1～2 parathyroid glands combined with immediately transplantation of the remaining isolated parathyroid glands were performed in 17 cases. Results Five cases suffered from transient hypocalcaemia, including 2 cases of vascularized parathyroid gland reservation and 3 cases of vascularized parathyroid gland reservation in 1～2 parathyroid glands combined with immediately transplantation of other parathyroid glands. Two cases who received parathyroid autotransplantation suffered from hypocalcaemia and received conservative treatment with activated vitamin D3 and caleium for 4 weeks or 8 weeks. Permanent hypoparathyroidism occurred in 1 case of 46 cases which undergone the total/near total thyroidectomy(2.2%). Conclusion Application of vascularized parathyroid gland reservation and parathyroid autotransplantation in total/near total thyroidectomy could reduce the incidence rate of post-operative hypoparathyroidism.

Objective To establish a method for the determination of chimoni and forsythiaside in Kangbingdu Oral Liquid(KOL) and to develop a new quality standard for KOL. Methods A RP-HPLC method was adopted for the determination of chimonin and forsythiaside of KOL. The chromatographic conditions were as follows:Kromasil RP-C18(250 mm? 4.6 mm,5 ? m) column was used,a mixture of acetonitrile -0.1 % acetic acid(15 ∶ 85,v/v) served as mobile phase,the flow rate was 0.80 mL? min-1,and detective wavelengths of time process were 0→ 25 min:258 nm,and 25→ 30 min:277 nm. Theoretical plate number of chimoni was over 6000 and that of forsythiaside was over 5000. Results The chimonin showed a good linearity in the range of 48.8ng～ 1525 ng(r=0.999 4),and the linear range of forsythiaside was in the ranged of 56ng～ 1750 ng(r=0.999 5).The mean recovery of chimonin and forsythiaside was 97.65 % and 99.21 % respectively. The content of chimonin in the 10 batches of samples was in the range of 14.40～ 20.41 ? g? mL-1,and that of forsythiaside was in the range of 28.70～ 36.01 ? g? mL-1. Conclusion The developed method has been proven to be simple,stable and reproducible,and can be applied for quality control of the Kangbingdu Oral Liquid.

Objective To find a method for building a human head parameter model. Method Raw data of human head were acquired and filtered, a linear regression equation was formulated, and a parameter model was established. Result A human head parameter model was built. Conclusion A human head parameter model can be built by using the linear regression equation of human head to adjust the initial CT data, and a three-dimensional and human head parameter model can be built by OpenGL.

Objective To investigate the clinical significance of fetal tricuspid regurgitation (TR) in the screening of chromosomal abnormalities at the first-trimester. Methods Screening for chromosomal abnormalities was carried out in 1 262 fetuses at 11+0 to 13+6 weeks. Ultrosound was performed to measure crown rump length and nuchal translucency (NT) thickness, and to acquire tricuspid waveform. All the neonates were followed up for 6 months after birth. Results Among the 1 262 fetuses, 68 were found to have TR. TR was present in 54 (4.4%) of the 1 239 chromosomally normal fetuses, and in 14 (61%) of the 23 with chromosomal abnormalities. Cardiac malformations were detectable in 28 fetuses. The prevalence of TR was 64%in those with cardiac malformations and 1.5%in those without cardiac malformations. Conclusions Tricuspid regurgitation is an effective predictor for the detection of fetal chromosomal abnormalities at the first trimester.

Objective To investigate the effects of subretinal fluid drainage combined with intravitreal anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) drugs in the treatment of severe exudative retinal detachment Coats disease.Methods Thirteen patients (13 eyes) with 3B Coats' disease diagnosed at the Eye Center of Tongren Hospital were included in the study.The participants were aged from 1 year to 11 years with a mean age of (4.15 ± 2.99) years.The visual acuity was no light perception in 1 case,from light perception to counting finger in 7 cases,from 0.01 to 0.1 in 2 cases,and could not be measured due to young in 3 cases.Patients underwent retinal fluid drainage combined with intravitreal ranibizumab (IVR,0.5 mg,0.05 mL) at the pars plana of ciliary body,and with retinal laser photocoagulation or cryotherapy according to the retinal peripheral vascular activity.During the follow-up,the visual acuity,intraocular pressure,slit lamp,indirect ophthalmoscope and color ophthalmoscope were examined and observed.The abnormal blood vessel change,absorption of subretinal fluid,retinal reattachment and complication were observed.Results Two subretinal fluid drainage were performed in 3 cases,one subretinal fluid drainage in 10 cases.Six cases were combined with two intravitreal injections,4 cases with three intravitral injection,3 cases with intravitreal injection for more than three times.Five cases were treated with simple photocoagulation,3 cases with simple retinal cryotherapy,and 5 cases with laser combined with cryotherapy.In 13 patients,the visual acuity was improved in 2 cases,unchanged in 8 cases,and could not be measured due to young in 3 cases.Eight cases had complete retinal reattachment.No significant postoperative complications occurred during follow-up,such as endophthalmitis,retinal hole and vitreous hemorrhage.Conclusion Subretinal fluid drainage combined with intravitreal injection is an effective method for severe 3B stage Coats disease.

Data analysis poses a significant challenge to the large-scale proteomics studies. Based on the structured and controlled vocabularies-Gene Ontology (GO), and the GO annotation from related databases, a strategy composed of several programs and local databases is developed to identify the functional distribution and the significantly enriched functional categories of the proteomic expression profile. It would be helpful for understanding the overall functions of these identified proteins and supply the fundamental information for further bioinformatics exploration. This strategy has been successfully used in the Human Fetal Liver (HFL) proteomic research, which is available online at http://www.hupo.org.cn/GOfact/.

AIM:To study the anti-tumor effect and mechanism of fusion vaccine on DCs and C6 glioma cells.METHODS: PEG was used to fuse DCs with C6 glioma cells.Immunofluorescence with GFAP-FITC was used to identify the DC/C6 fusion cells.Rat brain glioma models were made by stereotactic technique.After 5 days of inoculation of C6,107 fusion cells were injected through tail vein in group A.The same number of DCs and the same volume of PBS were used in group B and group C.The survival time of rats in these three groups was analyzed by Log-rank survival analysis.Tumor samples were checked by HE staining and immunohistochemical staining with CD8Mcab.RESULTS: Positive result of GFAP-FITC immunofluorescence was observed in DC/C6 fusion cells.The Log-rank survival analysis showed that statistically significant difference in group A was observed compared to that in group B and group C(P

Objective To analyze the clinical and pathological features of follicular variant of papillary thyroid carcinoma (FVPTC).Methods Clinical data of 131 FVPTC patients diagnosed and treated between January 2006 and June 2012 were retrospectively analyzed.Results Of the 131 FVPTC patients,the median age at diagnosis was 45 years and 74.0％ patients were female.Pathologically 29％ (38 patients) of the FVPTC patients were encapsulated,and 71％ (93 patients) were nonencapsulated.Compared with classical papillary thyroid carcinoma (CPTC),FVPTC patients were more likely to have lower ultrasound diagnostic accuracy rate,frozen section accuracy rate,tumor muhicentricity,tumor bilaterality,lymph node metastasis,lateral lymph node metastasis rate,N staging,TNM stage,ATA risk and higher M staging and concomitant chronic thyroiditis rate (all P ＜ 0.05).Moreover,there were significant differences between nonencapsulated and encapsulated follicular variant of papillary thyroid carcinoma in tumor size,TSH level,ultrasound diagnostic accuracy rate,extrathyroid invasion,T staging,lymph node metastasis,N staging,TNM staging,ATA risk and recurrence rate (all P ＜ 0.05).Conclusions Compared with CPTC,FVPTC have different clinical and biological features.It's necessary for different management strategies for different FVPTC patients.

ObjectiveTo investigate the clinical biocharacteristics,treatment,prognosis and the factors that influence prognosis of anaplastic thyroid carcinoma(ATC). MethodsThe clinical data of 108 ATC patients treated at our institution from January 1981 to April 2009 and follow-up results were retrospectively reviewed.ResultsThe median survival time of 108 patients was 6 months.The overall 1-year,2-year,5-year survival rate was 40.3％,30.9％ and 21.9％ respectively.Univariate analysis showed the factors influencing the prognosis of ATC patients were tumor size, distant metastases, stage,leukocytosis, radiotherapy, localresection, postoperativeradiotherapyandmultimodalitytherapy.Multivariate analysis indicated that tumor size,stage,leukocytosis and radiotherapy were independently associated with the prognosis.ConclusionsAnaplastic thyroid carcinoma is rare but highly aggressive malignancy with poor prognosis. ATC patients should receive multimodality therapy,especially local resection and postoperative radiotherapy.Even inoperable patients could benefit from radiotherapy.
