Objective To find a proper number of implanted fiducials in order to reconcile both more accurate image tacking and less pain for the patients. Methods The phantom was made of two parts of different materials. The inner part was a ball-cube phantom developed by Accuray Corporation, which could be regarded as a rigid body, with 5 fiducials inside using as the reference to align the whole phantom in the experiment. The outer part was made of additional silicone rubber with two components to simulate soft tissue as a non-rigid body, which was implanted with 8 fiducials inside. All combinations of different number of fiducials were tracked to aquire the target location information, which were then compared with the reference position that was set by the inner 5 fiducials to obtain the deviations of the translation and the rotation parameters. Thus the impact of the number of fiducials on image target localization accuracy could be analyzed easily. Results When 4 fiducials are used for tracking, the decline of translation and rotation errors for every fiducial is largest (0.086 mm and 0.033°).The translation error was decreased by 0.343 mm from 1 to 4 fiducials, while by only 0.077 mm from 4 to 8 fiducials;the same decline was observed for rotation errors (0.131° for 3 to 4 fiducials , and 0.09° for 4 to 8 fiducials , respectively) .Conclusions When 4 fiducials are used for tracking, the decline of errors for every fiducial is maximum. When one more fiducial is adding, the image target localization accuracy can be enhanced obviously from 1 to 4 fiducials, but not as obvious for more than 4 fiducials.

Journal of Experimental Hematology 2001;9(3):263-267
The structure analysis of porcine hemoglobin alphabeta dimer and the calculation of solvent accessible surface of the amino acids showed the epsilon-amino groups of the lysine are suitable for modification by polyethylene glycol (PEG). The modification of the lysine residues will not affect the carring oxygen capacity of Hb. Three types of linker have been designed to connect PEG and porcine hemoglobin. The lysines between porcine and bovine hemoglobin (pHb and bHb) are highly conserved, but the solvent accessible surface of conserved lysines are different. These suggested that the properties of homologous proteins are similar in pHb and bHb, but the characteristic derived from the homology analysis will be deviated from the actual status. The results of molecular dynamics simulation suggested that the chemical modified porcine hemoglobin would be no immunogenicity.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the influence of gene transduction mediated by lentivirus vector on human CD34+ cord blood cell (CBCs) gene expression.
METHODSCD34+ cells were isolated and transduced with the third-generation self-inactivating ( SIN) lentiviral vector carrying green fluorescent protein (GFP). The total RNA from transduced cells was extracted and the differences of genotypes between the transduced and non-transduced CD34+ cells were determined with cDNA microarray analysis.
RESULTSIn 23000 genes two were upregulated and six downregulated. These changes were not confirmed by semi-quantitative RT-PCR method.
CONCLUSIONSLentiviral vector used in this study do not influence significantly on the gene expression of CD34+ CBCs, and the vector system may be a useful and safe one in clinical gene therapy.

Journal of Medical Biomechanics 2017;32(1):54-59
Objective Objective To analyze the torque performance of lingual brackets with slots in different directions and the influence pattern of arch wires with different sizes and materials on torque of these lingual brackets. Methods The finite element models of the anterior maxilla lingual brackets with vertical and horizontal slot were constructed, using 3 kinds of materials (stainless steel,beta-titanium,nickel-titanium) and two sizes of arch wires (0.43 mm x 0.56 mm,0.41 mm x 0.56 mm),so as to compare and analyze their mechanical properties after the application of torque load on the left upper central incisors with a rotation angle of ±20°.Results With the increase in elastic modulus of the arch wire, torque moments of lingual brackets with horizontal and vertical slot both increased gradually.Torque performance of lingual brackets was affected more by the sizes and materials of arch wires than the directions of slots. The lingual bracket with vertical slot produced 1-2 times of torque force than that with horizontal slot under the same degree of torque angle. The effect of arch wire sizes was smaller than that of arch wire materials, while the synergistic change in sizes and materials of arch wires had the largest influence on torque performance of lingual brackets. Conclusions The torque performance of lingual bracket will be influenced with its different slot directions, the sizes and materials of arch wires. In clinical application, slot directions of lingual brackets as well as sizes and materials of arch wires should be adjusted properly according to the required torque force.

BACKGROUNDVascular rings are uncommon anomalies in which preferred strategies for diagnosis and management may vary among institutions. In this study, we reported our approach and a review of our 5-year experience.
METHODSFrom May 2006 to April 2011, 45 children (31 boys) with vascular rings underwent surgical repair at Beijing Children's Hospital. Nineteen patients (26%) had associated heart anomalies.
RESULTSThere were two hospital deaths. At follow-up, 11 patients still had intermittent respiratory symptoms, but these symptoms had no effect on growth or physical activities. No patients required reoperation.
CONCLUSIONSThe rates of misdiagnosis and missed diagnosis of vascular rings are higher than those of other congenital heart diseases. A high index of clinical suspicion coupled with the use of computed tomography enables early diagnosis. Surgical repair can be performed successfully, although a number of patients will have persistent symptoms.
