ObjectiveTo explore a new simple epicanthoplasty method fit for various types of epicanthus with inconspicuous scar after operation. Methods As the latest studies showed that the anatomical structure of epicanthus is mainly due to the eyelid orbicularis muscle's dislocation at the starting point of the medial canthal tendon, which affects the skin appearance, rather than the traditional view that was merely the excess skin,we released the adhesions between the skin and the inner canthus orbicularis muscle, and corrected the dislocation of orbicularis muscle that was key to the operation, incised along with the line A′→B→A″→ C in the field of interior canthus, separated the subcutaneous fascia tissue, relaxed the subcutaneous fibrous cord, disconnect the orbicularis muscle's attachment point in the inner canthal fold, and then sutured and folded the inner canthal ligament. After sewing up point A′ and point A″,the released skin retracted naturally and formed a new inner canthal contour.ResultsFrom June 2008 to June 2009,57 cases of epicanthus patients accepted this surgery. After operation, the appearance of canthus was nice.Eye fissure got widen, and the scar was not obvious. Also there was a high satisfactory rate.ConclusionsThis method has a broad range of applications. It is suitable for various types of epicanthus correction.

Objective To evaluate the correlation between diffusion tensor imaging(DTI)measurements, fiber tracking(FT)and the clinical symptoms in patients with cervical spondylotic myelopathy. Methods According to the Japanese orthopaedics association score(JOA),104 patients with cervical spondylopathy were divided into 4 groups:mild in 31 patients with 13-16 scores, moderate in 27 with 9-12 scores, severe in 25 with 5-8 scores, and serious in 21 with 0-4 scores.According to the lesion signal characters, all patients were divided into 3 groups:Group A with normal signal in both T1 WI and T2WI in 33 patients,Group B with normal signal in T1WI but high signal in T2WI in 30 patients, and Group C with low signal in T1 WI and high signal in T2WI in 41 patients.Apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC),fractional anisotropy(FA),λ1,λ2,λ3 were measured in the spinal cord at the serious pressed section, and fiber tractography was performed. The Spearman correlation analyses was used to correlate each of the DTI measurement with JOA score.Group difference was tested with one-way ANOVA method. Results High quality of DTI was acquired in all patients. The FA values in the mild, moderate, severe, and serious groups were respectively 0.69 ±0.13,0.58 ±0.03,0.46 ±0.08,and 0.37 ±0.11 and significant difference was found in different groups(F =100.59,P < 0.05)and positively correlated with JOA scores (r =0.883,P < 0.05).There was no statistical significance between JOA scores and ADC,λ1,λ2,λ3(r=0.232,0.217,0.113,0.127,P >0.05).The FA values in group A,B,and C were respectively 0.67 ±0.33,0.51 ±0.21,0.38 ±0.03,and significant difference was found among different groups(F =50.05,P < 0.05).Decrease of JOA score and high signal in T2 companied with decrease of FA value.Decrease of FA values was found associated with increase of fiber bundle damage. The ADC,λ2,λ3 but not λ1 were significantly different among the JOA groups and the group A,B,and C.Conclusions The FA values are positively correlated with clinical symptoms.Decrease of FA values is found associated with increase of fiber bundle damage.DTI can show the severity and extent of damage of spinal cord in patients with cervical spondylotic myelopathy.
5.Study on the English Translation of Terms Related to Heart Diseases in On cold damage and Essentials of The Golden Cabinet Based on the Functional Equivalence Theory
World Science and Technology-Modernization of Traditional Chinese Medicine 2023;25(7):2274-2280
With the deepening and advancement of globalization,Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)has attracted the attention of people all over the world. In particular, since the outbreak of the COVID-19 epidemic,TCM has been fully participated in the prevention and treatment and achieved remarkable success, providing Chinese approach for global epidemic prevention and control. However, due to the complexity of TCM terms, rich and varied connotations, profound semantics and so on,TCM translation is fraught with difficulties. There are some problems in the translation of TCM,such as not standardized, inaccurate and unsmooth, which make it difficult for residents of other countries to understand TCM and seriously hinder the spread of TCM to the world. Therefore, the translation of TCM has become a key problem to be solved urgently.Based on the functional equivalence theory, this paper makes a comparative analysis of the English translations of the terms related to heart diseases in On cold damage and Essentials of The Golden Cabinet, which can be divided into the translation of the terms related to heart diseases caused by poor blood circulation or dysphoria of the heart. The theory of functional equivalence can take into account the cultural context and thinking habits of western readers, accurately convey the true meaning of TCM classics to western scholars, and help to standardize the translation of terms related to heart diseases in On cold damage and Essentials of The Golden Cabinet. On the basis of a full understanding of the original text, this paper makes a comparative analysis of different versions of English translation, and adopts a translation that can not only express the meaning of the original text, but also be easily understood and accepted by foreign readers as the norm.To improve the understanding and acceptance of TCM in the world, and to provide theoretical reference and reliable methodological research means for the translation of ancient TCM books into English.

Objective To investigate changes of muscle activation in the lower limbs during landing impact as running fatigue pro-gresses. Methods From November to December,2022,eleven male runners were recruited from Wuhan Sports University. They performed a steady-state run at 75%of their maximum heart rate and continued until Borg rating score≥17 or 90%of their maximum heart rate.Muscle activity data were collected using a Delsys wireless surface electromy-ography system, continuously recording the EMG of the quadriceps(vastus medialis, rectus femoris, vastus later-alis),hamstrings(biceps femoris, semitendinosus),gluteus maximus, lateral head of the gastrocnemius and tibia-lis anterior. The pre-activation,post-activation and co-activation characteristics of these lower limb muscles were analyzed. Results With fatigue accumulation during running, significant differences were observed in the pre-activation level of the tibialis anterior among different fatigue points(F=2.955,P=0.048),with the 100%fatigue point showing significantly higher pre-activation levels than the start(P=0.010);as well as post-activation levels of quadriceps(F=6.609,P=0.001),with higher levels at the 100%point compared to the start(P=0.011),33%(P=0.009)and 67%(P=0.043)fatigue points;co-activation ratios of ankle joint during the pre-activation phase(F=3.287,P=0.034),with a significantly higher co-activation ratio at the 100%fatigue point compared to the start(P=0.023). Conclusion As running fatigue accumulates, the central nervous system adjusts the activation levels of various lower limb muscles to modify impact posture, reducing the risk of injury from accumulated lower limb loads.

Objective:To study and screen the differential expression of inflammatory proteins in diabetes skin ulcers and common skin ulcers, so as to provide experimental basis for further research on anti-inflammatory and healing drug targets of diabetes skin ulcers. Methods:The tissues of 11 patients with diabetes skin ulcer, 12 patients with common skin ulcer and 11 patients with normal skin were collected from the First Hospital of Hunan University of Chinese Medicine. The levels of inflammatory protein Toll like receptor 4 (TLR4), nuclear factor κB (NF-κB), pro-inflammatory factor interferon -γ (IFN -γ), tumor necrosis factor - α (TNF -α), interleukin-6 (IL-6), interleukin-8 (IL-8), interleukin-1β (IL-1β), macrophage chemotactic protein-1 (MCP-1), anti-inflammatory factors epidermal growth factor (EGF), interleukin-4 (IL-4), and interleukin-10 (IL-10) were detected in three groups of tissues using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA).Results:Compared with normal tissues, the concentrations of TLR4, NF-κB, IFN -γ, TNF -α, IL-1β, IL-6, IL-8, MCP-1 and EGF in common ulcer skin tissues and diabetes ulcer tissues were higher, and the concentrations of IL-10 were lower, with statistically significant differences (all P<0.05); Compared with the normal tissue, the concentration of IL-4 in diabetes ulcer tissue was lower, the difference was statistically significant ( P<0.05); Compared with ordinary ulcer skin tissue, the concentrations of TLR4, NF-κB and MCP-1 in diabetes ulcer tissue were higher, and the concentrations of IL-4 were lower, with statistically significant differences (all P<0.05). Conclusions:The skin ulcer in diabetes patients will have inflammatory reaction, and high glucose promotes the inflammatory reaction of skin ulcer, which may be related to the abnormal expression of TLR4, NF-κB, MCP-1 and IL-4. TLR4/NF-κB signal pathway and inflammatory factors MCP-1 and IL-4 may be the target of the inflammation regulation of diabetes skin ulcer.

OBJECTIVE
To establish the HPLC fingerprint and content determination of five components in Ranunculus sceleratus L..
METHODS
The separation was developed on an Agilent ZORBAX SB C18 chromatographic (4.6 mm×250 mm, 5 μm)column by gradient elution with methanol(A)-0.1 % phosphoric acid aqueous solution(B) as mobile phase to establish HPLC fingerprint of Ranunculus sceleratus L.. Combined with similarity evaluation, cluster analysis, principal component analysis, and orthogonal partial least squares-discriminant analysis, the quality of 13 batches of Ranunculus sceleratus L. was evaluated.
RESULTS
Thirteen batches of Ranunculus sceleratus L. samples were calibrated with 20 common peaks, of which 5 common peaks were identified, and the similarity ranged from 0.874 to 0.984. The results of cluster analysis and principal component analysis were basically the same, indicating that there might be differences in the content of chemical components of Ranunculus sceleratus L. in different regions. Protocatechuic aldehyde, caffeic acid, ferulic acid, hyperoside and isoquercitrin were determined in thirteen batches of Ranunculus sceleratus L., and their contents were 0.016−0.035, 0.010−0.070, 0.010−0.029, 0.016−0.051, 0.028−0.086 mg·g–1, respectively.
CONCLUSION
The established HPLC fingerprint and content determination method is simple, stable, and reliable, which can be used for qualitative analysis and provide reference to quality evaluation and resource utilization of Ranunculus sceleratus L..
