Our objective is to prevent doctors and nurses who worked on SARS ward from contracting this highly communicable disease through observing strict isolation strategies. The following measures have been taken in our hospitals. The wards for SARS patients were remodeled according to the isolation requirements for infectious diseases. They were separated into three quarters, namely clean area, semi-contamination area and contamination area. Two buffer zones were set up to separate the three quarters. Four specific passages were separately allotted to health care staffs, patients, soiled materials disposal and handling and dispatch of specimens, to avoid cross infection by contact. According to the criteria for isolation of serial A respiratory infectious diseases, every health care worker was strictly requested to wear and take off isolation garments properly when they entered and left the ward. Most importantly, specific garbs for different areas were essential for efficient isolation. Respiratory tract, skin and mucous surfaces should be effectively protected on the ward. In addition, doctors and nurses should wear special masks or helmets and waterproof suit during the performance of intubation, CPR or operation. Direction of air flow in SARS ward was diverted away from the clean area by using ventilator in order to prevent air-borne contamination. The air outlet of SARS ward was efficiently filtered to cut down pollution of the environment. Living quarters of medical staff working on SARS ward were isolated with a safe distance from the ward. Their health condition was closely monitored daily. After working in SARS ward for four weeks, they should enjoy a special vacation to assure their good health condition. In the past spring, 882 SARS patients were admitted to both the 309 hospital and Xiao Tanghan hospital. 1 632 health care workers worked for those SARS paitents by turns. To our satisfaction, none of our staffs was infected by SARS. Our experiences indicated that health care workers on the SARS ward could be effectively protected from contracting SARS infection by taking efficient and strictly observed protective measures.

The development of clinical pathways must "start and end up with education" as put by the authors. The article discussed the objectives, significance and contents, as well as approaches in the education of clinical pathways. It recommended a tiered education for hospital leaders, medical care workers, office staff, patients and their family members, and different target groups and contents in the education for clinical pathways application.

Description of the tasks provided by the hospital to Beijing Olympic Games and their characteristics, and a summary of the practice and experiences in the course. For example, a general view of hospital mission, reasonable tasks scheduling, and handling of the four relationships. It holds that medical institutions need to take the opportunity of providing medical services to large international events to upgrade and improve themselves, standardize their management, reinforce normalization in medical practice, and better their brand marketing awareness.

Objective:Through the establishment and application of the biosafety autopsy pathology platform in Huoshenshan Hospital, the feasibility and application effect of the biosafety autopsy pathology platform were analyzed. Methods:The feasibility and application effect of the biosafety autopsy pathology platform were analyzed by layout design, instruments and equipment preparation, testing methods examination, and effect evaluation. Results:A total number of 26 cases of systematic autopsy and 8 cases of minimally invasive autopsy (puncture) were performed on the biosafety autopsy pathology platform, and no one was infected. Some pathology original findings were identified, including COVID-19 and pathological characteristics of identification, SARS respiratory failure mechanism and treatment significance, systemic distribution and spreading mechanism of the new coronavirus, the " storm" of inflammation pathological basis, some tumor markers rise in pulmonary pathological cell source and the overcast with fibrosis characteristics, such findings play important roles in the clinical diagnosis and treatment of COVID-19.Conclusions:The study of autopsy pathology is of great significance for the prevention and control of emerging infectious disease, which calls for early intervention. To promote the standard construction of biosafety autopsy platform is the key to the pathological study of emerging infectious diseases. Pathological research and clinical diagnosis and treatment should be combined to inform each other.

Objective To investigate the health status, functional ability, mental psychology, health care and other longevity-related characteristics of individuals aged ≥ 100 years as well as risk factors in Hainan province,China. Methods China Hainan Centenarian Cohort Study (CHCCS) is a community-based,prospective cohort study to establish multi-dimensional database consisting of questionnaire findings, anthropometric parameters and biological specimens as well as imaging features. With the household registration information provided by the Department of Civil Affairs of Hainan province,a baseline survey was conducted in centenarians in 18 counties in Hainan with the oldest old in 5 counties as controls between 2014 and 2017.The survey included face to face interview, physical examination and biological specimen collection. After the baseline survey, the participants of CHCCS were followed up at an interval of 2 years to collect the information about their living status, disease status or major death causes. Results According to the information provided by the Department of Civil Affairs of Hainan province in 2014,the survey found that 1 473 centenarians were still living.By December 2016,1 002 of them had agreed to be surveyed. The average age of 722 centenarians with complete information in the baseline survey was (102.7± 2.7) years, the majority of them were females (83.0%),widows (88.8%),in Han ethnic group (84.5%),lived with family members (87.8%),illiterates (89.7%) and farmers (81.0%).Conclusion CHCCS has provided longevity-related information of the large longevity population and collected the valuable and rare biological specimens with great urgency to establish an interdisciplinary platform and base for longevity, senility and healthy aging research.
