1.Clinical Application Value of Magnetic Susceptibility-weighted Imaging in Cerebral Vascular Malformations

Objective To assess the clinical application value of magnetic susceptibility-weighted imaging in cerebral vascular malformations. Methods Thirty-six patients with cerebral vascular malformations were enrolled in the study. All the patients received examination of T1WI, T2WI and SWI. SWI sequence was compared with T1WI, T2WI sequence in detecting and diagnosing cerebral vascular malformations. Results Cerebral vascular malformations were low signal in SWI sequence. Cavernous angioma, developmental venous anomalies and AVM had been found in 73,8,10 cases, respectively. The bounder of lesions was clearer, more multiple small lesions, more hair-thin pulp veins and draining veins were detected in SWI sequence. Conclusion SWI sequence has more sensitivity than T1WI and T2WI sequence in detecting the cerebral-vascular malformations. SWI sequence may become routine examination se- quence in diagnosis cerebral-vascular malformations.

3.Effect of Cutaneous Never Anastomosis on Sensory Reconstruction in Free Anterolateral Femoral Flap Repairing Wide Spreadly Dorsal Hand Soft Tissue Defect

Objective To explore the effect of cutaneous never anastomosis on sensory recovery in repairing wide spreadly soft tissue defects in dorsal hand with free anterolateral femoral flap. Methods The cases with wide spreadly soft tissue defects in dorsal hand repaired with free anterolateral femoral flap from January 2006 to December 2012 were divided into 2 groups. The control group including 15 consecutive patients from January 2006 to January 2009, whose sensation was reconstructed in routine way. Other 15 consecutive patients from Febnary 2009 to December 2012 were as research group, whose sensation was reconstructed with the suture of cutaneous nevers of anterolateral femoral flaps and forearm. All the patients were followed up for 12~24 months. Results All the free flaps survived in both groups. There were 4 cases good of sensory recovery in the control group, and it was 11 in the research group. No ulceration happened. Conclusion Cutaneous never anastomosis may result in satisfactory sensory function in the patients with wide spreadly soft tissue descts in dorsal hand repaired with free anterolateral femoral flap.
4.Studies on TLC fingerprint of flavonoids in rhizome of Polygonatum odoratum.

OBJECTIVETo study the thin layer chromatographic (TLC) fingerprint of flavonoid constituents from Polygonatum odoratum, to set up the identification protocol of the herbal and provide scientific information for its quality control.
METHODThe ethanol extracts were separated on silica gel G precoated plate with a mixture of toluene-ethylacetate-formic acid (5:4:1) as the mobile phase. The spots were visualized with ammonia vapor, then were examined under ultraviolet light (365 nm). The plate was scanned at wavelengths of lambdaR = 500 nm, lambdaS = 280 nm.
RESULTA fingerprint of flavonoids of P. odoratum, with 10 specific fluorescent spots while examined under ultraviolet light, was set up.
CONCLUSIONThe method can be used for quality control of P. odoratum.

The way of "extracting-salting-chromatography" was used to purify the phycoerythrin and phycocyanin from Porphyra yezoensis in process scale-up.First,by comprehensive comparison of efficiency,the Sephadex G-25 was selected from four resins (Sephadex G-25、G-100、S-300 and CL-6B) as the best choice used in crude extract desalting of phycobiliprotein.Then the preparation process of phycobiliprotein was scaled-up with raw material(Porphyra yezoensis) increased from 1g to 20g,and finally to 400g.The results indicated that the yields of purified phycoerythrin and phycocyanin (absorption spectra purity above 3.2) increased during according to process scale-up,with 0.323% phycoerythrin and 0.148% phycocyanin obtained from 400g frozen Porphyra yezoensis blades respectively.It is no doubt that the process involved in the experiment is a potential way for large scale preparation of phycobiliproteins of high purity.

7.Analysis on metabolic flux shift during guanosine fermentation.

Taking the typical metabolic control product-guanosine as an example, the method of metabolic flux shift investigation based on process multi-levels parameter correlation analysis was established. The metabolic pathway, multi-parameter correlation, accumulation of amino acid and organic acid during guanosine fermentation process were integratively analyzed. The metabolic flux shift from HMP to EMP was ascertained, which was assumed to be caused by the accumulation of ammonium ion. The subsequent optimization based on controlling flux distribution between EMP and HMP did improve the yield by 35% when the metabolic flux shift was prevented.

8.Distribution and property of nerve fibers in human long bone tissue.

OBJECTIVETo observe the distribution of the nerve fibers in the bone tissue and the entry points of these fibers into the bone.
METHODSThe adult tibia was used for the ground sections which were afterwards made into the slice sections by decalcification in ethylenediamine tetraacetic acid (EDTA). The ground sections were stained in silver and the slice sections were stained in silver and haematoxylin and eosin (HE) respectively. Then, the samples of the transmission electron microscope and the atomic force microscope were made and observed.
RESULTSIn the human long bone tissue, many nerve fibers were distributed in the membrane, cortical bone, cancellous bone and marrow. The nerve fibers entered the bone from the nutrient foramen, and passed through the nutrient canal, Haversian's canal and Volkmann's canal, and finally into the bone marrow. In the nutrient canal, the nerve fibers, mainly the medullary nerve fibers, followed the blood vessel into the bone. In the cortical bone, the nerve fibers also followed the blood vessels and were mainly distributed along Haversian's canal and Volkmann's canal. In the bone trabecular and bone marrow, there were many nerve fiber endings arranged around the blood vessels, mainly around the tunica media of medium-size arteries in the marrow and around capillary blood vessels, and a few scattered in the bone marrow. There were sporadic nerve endings in epiphyseal plate and no nerve fibers permeated epiphysis to diaphysis. No distribution of nerve fibers could be found in cartilaginous part.
CONCLUSIONSThere are many nerve fibers in bone and the nerve passageway is nutrient foramen, Volkman's canal, Haversian's canal and bone marrow.

Objective To investigate the effect of 131I on apoptosis of thyrocytes in patients with Graves disease. Methods Forty-seven patients with Graves disease were divided into two groups, two week group (G2w) and four week group (G4w). All patients underwent thyoid needle biopsy before 131I treatment and the repeated biopsy at two weeks (G2w) or four weeks (G4w) after 131I treatment. The positive units of pro-apoptotic proteins (Fas, FasL) and anti-apoptotic protein (Bcl-2) were studied with immunohistochemistry staining. The differences of the two groups were compared with t-test. Liner correlation analysis was applied to study the correlation between 131I dose and apoptosis-related proteins and that between serum sTSH after 131I treatment and apoptosis-related proteins. Results Fas, FasL and Bcl-2 expression (positive units) were significantly increased in both groups after 131I treatment, G2w :22.84 ± 9.31 vs 16.20 ± 6.75,21.13±6.29vs 14.56±4.06, 21.69±7.83 vs 15.22 ±5.94, t= -3.08, -3.73, -4.05 (allP<0.05); G4w:21.69 ±4.52 vs 15.83 ±5.03, 19. 11 ±3.75 vs 14.02 ±4.98, 19.06 ±3.44 vs 16.63 ±4. 73, t = - 5.26, - 5.00, - 2.41 (all P<0.05). However, no statistical differences were found between G2w and G4w (t = 0. 53, 0. 82, 1.46, all P > 0.05). Significant correlation was found between 131I 0. 727, rFasL = 0. 763 (both P<0.05)), but not between the dose and Bcl-2, rBcl-2 = - 0. 094, 0. 102(both P > 0.05). There were significant correlation between serum sTSH three months after 131I treatment and apoptosis-related proteins, rFas = 0.433, rFasL = 0. 601, rBcln2 = - 0. 397, (all P<0. 05). Conclusions 131I can induce thyrocytes to express the pro-apoptotic proteins in patients with Graves disease.
