Objective To investigate expressions of the vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) family and their receptors in cardiac repair/remodeling after myocardial infarction (MI).Methods The infarcted rat heart model were constructed,real time PCR (RT-PCR) and Western blots (WB) were used.Results Compared to the normal myocardium,VEGF-A was significantly decreased in MI group during the 42 days observation period but decreased at day 1,which was 0.89 ±0.04 of control group in D1,0.25 ±0.03 of control in D14; VEGF-B was significantly suppressed in the infarcted heart,which level was 0.09 ± 0.04 of control; However,VEGF-C and VEGF-D were markedly increased in the infarcted heart in MI group,which was 5.31 ± 0.21 and 9.24 ± 0.47 times of control.Meanwhile,VEGFR-1 and 2 were 0.11 ± 0.02 and 0.14 ± 0.04 of control in the infarcted heart,but VEGFR-3 was significantly increased in blood vessels,6.81 ± 0.42 times of control group.Conclusions VEGF isoforms and VEGFR subtypes were differentially expressed in the infarcted heart.It suggests that these isoforms may regulate multiple responses during cardiac repair/remodeling.

Objective To discuss the relation between influenza peak, temperature and relative humidity. Methods Statistical analysis on the data of influenza consultation rates, temperature and relative humidity from 1998 to 2002 in Hong Kong area was carried out to propose some relation between influenza peak, temperature and relative humidity. Results It was slightly possible to cause influenza peak when the week-averaged temperature was less than 20 ℃ and largely possible to cause influenza peak when the week-averaged temperature was less than 15 ℃. It was also largely possible to cause influenza peak when the week-averaged temperature was very low and the relative humidity was higher which resulted the lower body-sense temperature compared with the forecasting temperature. Conclusion The prevalence of influenza occurs during four seasons in one year in Hong Kong, but the prevalence peak of influenza mainly appears under the condition of lower temperature(

Objective To compare the clinical efficacy and safety of continuous subcutaneous insulin infusion (CSII) and multiple subcutaneous insulin injection (MSII) in elderly patients with severe type 2 diabetes.Methods Thirty-seven elderly patients with severe type 2 diabetes in the hospital intensive care unit (ICU) were divided into observation group (19 cases) and control group (18 cases) by random number table method.The observation group was treated with continuous subcutaneous insulin recombinant human insulin lispro injection,and control group was treated with recombinant human insulin lispro injection before meals and at bedtime routine insulin glargine subcutaneous injection.Two groups of patients and their families were given diabetes education.Changes in blood glucose,insulin dosage,blood glucose control standard time,rate of hypoglycemia and hospitalization time between 2 groups before and after treatment were compared.Results After treatment,fasting blood glucose in observation group was (7.2 ± 1.2) mmol/L,2 hour postprandial blood glucose was (9.4 ± 1.2) mmol/L,bedtime blood glucose was (9.4 ± 1.3) mmol/L; which in control group was (8.5 ± 3.0),(10.0 ± 2.4),(10.2 ± 2.4)mmol/L respectively.Fasting blood glucose,2 hour postprandial blood glucose and bedtime blood glucose significantly decreased after treatment in two groups,but there was significant difference between 2 groups (P ＜ 0.05).Blood glucose control standard time in observation group was (5.4 ± 2.5) d,insulin dosage was (43 ± 9) U/d,in control group was (12.8 ± 3.8) d,(55 ± 10) U/d respectively,and there was significant difference (P ＜ 0.05).Observation group had no hypoglycemia.Conclusion CSII for elderly patients with severe type 2 diabetes has better curative effect and security than MSII,and is more conducive to the control of blood glucose and the improvement of the condition.

[Objective]To establish a method to determine the contents of glucase and fructose in extracts of leaves of Lonicera hypoglauca Miq. using HPLC-ELSD, and apply this method to study the content change of glucose and fructose in different solvents extracts in leaves of Lonicera hypoglauca Miq. [Methods] The chromatographic separation was achieved on Lichrospher NH2 column using a mobile phase composed of a mixture of acetonitrile and water(90:10) at a flow rate of 0.8mL·min-1 and the column temperature was 25℃.The ELSD drift tube temperature was set at 70℃ and the carrying gas was N2 and the flow rate of the gas was 1.6L·min-1. [Results] Glucose and fructose from extracts of the leaves of Lonicera hypoglauca Miq. could be wel separated, and the linearity ranges of glucose and fructose were shown at the concentration of 0.5840~1.168mg·mL-1 and 0.8256~1.8576mg·mL-1, the average recovery rate of glucose and fructose were 96.88%(RSD=1.11%) and 97.55%(RSD=1.15%), the stability of glucose and fructose was 2.12%and 0.38%, and the repeatability was 1.31% and 0.24%. Among the water extract,50% alcohol extract and 95% alcohol extract,the content of the glucose and fructose in the water extract was highest,which was 2.19mg·mL and 4.10mg·mL-1, the 50% alcohol extract was second, which was 1.13mg·mL-1 and 2.12mg·mL-1, and the 95% alcohol extract was lowest, which was 0.45mg·mL-1 and 0.65mg·mL-1.[Conclusion] The method is simple, accurate and has good repeatability, and can be used to determine the contents of glucose and fructose in the extract of leaves of Lonicera hypoglauca Miq. In this batch of leaves of Lonicera hypoglauca Miq., the contents of fructose and glucose were of water extract>50%ethanol extract>95%ethanol extract.

Objective To evaluate the influence of dexmedetomidine（Dex） on sedation and requirement of propofol during anesthesia induction. Methods Thirty patients（ASA Ⅰ or Ⅱ） undergoing selective operation were randomly divided into 2 groups：Dexmedetomidine group （group D,n=15） or control group （group C,n=15）. Patients in the group D received 1 μg/kg dex diluted to 10ml over 10 min by pumped infusion and patients in the group C was simply recieved normol saline at the same way.Twenty minutes after administrating the drug,patients in both groups were pumped propofol at the speed of 0.4 mg·kg-1·min-1. When holding up jaw without movement,patients received 1 μg/kg fentanyl and 0.6 mg/kg rocuronium,and endotracheal intubated 1.5 minutes later. RE,SE,Ramsay sedation scale of the patients were recorded before（T0） and after 5,10,20 minutes（T1-T3） of drug adminstration.The minimum dose and total dose of propofol during induction were recorded.Results Compared with group C and T0,RE and SE in group D decreased obviously at T1-T3 （P0.01）,while Ramsay sedation scale rised significantly （P0.01）. Compared with group C,the minimum dose and the total dose of propofol decreased obviously in group D during induction （P0.01）.Conclusion Dexmedetomidine causes sadetive without respiratory depression,and has the propofol sparing effect during anesthesia induction.

SIGIRR, a member of the interleukin 1 receptor superfamily, is also known as a single immunoglobulin (Ig)-related receptor, which is believed to play a key role in the development of inflammation and the regulation of anti-inflammatory effects. Some studies believe that the abnormal down-regulation of SIGIRR can lead to intestinal inflammation, pyelonephritis, systemic lupus erythematosus and other diseases, but it can promote tumor growth and potentially cause anti-tumor immune damage when its genes are overexpressed. Therefore, the role of SIGIRR in disease occurrence and development is considered a double-edged sword. At present, the detailed molecular mechanism of SIGIRR′s biological role is not fully understood. This article reviews the functions of SIGIRR in the occurrence and development of immune-related diseases and immune regulation, as well as related cell signaling pathways, which have been discovered and confirmed.

Objective To investigate the effects of different concentrations of crocin on receptor activator of nuclear factor kappa B ligand (RANKL)-induced osteoclastogenesis using the monocyte-macrophage cell line RAW264.7. Methods The monocyte-macrophage cell line RAW264.7 was cultured routinely.After treatment with 0,6.25,12.5,25, 50,100,200 and 400 μmol/L crocin,cell counting kit-8(CCK-8)assay was used to analyze the viability of RAW264.7 cells to screen out the appropriate experimental concentration. RAW264.7 cells were induced by RANKL (100 ng/L) to form osteoclasts. After treated with 0, 12.5, 50 and 100 μmol/L crocin respectively, the number of osteolasts was counted by tatrate resistant acid phosphatasec (TRAP) staining. Real-time PCR was used to detect the mRNA expression levels of calcitonin receptor(CTR),nuclear factor of active T cells 1(NFATC1),C-fos and TRAP.Results No significant effects of crocin (within 0-100 μmol/L) were found on the viability of RAW264.7 cells (P>0.05). However, When crocin concentration was over 100 μmol/L,the cell proliferation was decreased,and which showed a significant inhibitory effect on proliferation (P<0.05). Thus, 0-100 μmol/L crocin was selected as the experiment concentration. The amount of differentiated osteolasts and the expression levels of CTR,NFATC1,C-fos and TRAP mRNA were decreased significantly with the increased concentrations of crocin(P<0.05).Conclusion At a certain concentration(0-100 μmol/L),the higher levels of crocin could inhibit RANKL-induced osteoclastogenesis.

Objective To investigate nursing interns’knowledge and attitude towards needle stick injury before clinical practice.Methods In 20-23 June,2015,nursing interns who were about to start clinical practice in a hospi-tal were investigated,nursing interns’knowledge and attitude towards needle stick injury were surveyed through questionnaire.Results A total of 350 questionnaires were distributed,324 (92.57%)responded questionnaires were available.40(12.35%)questionnaires were responded by male interns,and 284(87.65%)were by female in-terns;34(10.49%)interns had bachelor degree;the mean age of interns were (20.83 + 1 .24)years old.The correct answer rates about questions related to injury occurring during needle recapping and wearing gloves were low (about 60%).About 70% of the interns gave the correct answers to questions about hepatitis B infection due to needle stick injury following hepatitis B vaccination,as well as medication after injury.Score for individual question about attitude towards needle stick injury was ≤3,the major related problems were susceptibility of blood borne diseases and recapping needles.Conclusion Needle stick injury-related knowledge and attitude among nursing interns is inadequate,including recapping needles,timely report,susceptible to infectious diseases,and so on.It is necessary for schools and teaching hospitals to strengthen the education about occupational protection among nursing interns, so as to improve the attitude and ability of professional protection.

Objective To investigate the correhtion between cognitive impairment and cerebral atherosclerosis in patients with acute ischemic stroke.Methods Acute ischemic stroke patients without cognitive impairment were recruited before symptom onset.The Montreal cognitive assessment (MoCA) was used to evaluate the cognitive function.Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) was used to identify the infarct locations and sides.Magnetic resonance angiography,CT angiography and digital subtraction angiography were used to identify atherosclerotic arteries.Resul~ A total of 101 patients with acute ischemic stroke were enrolled,including 75 (74.3％) with cognitive impairment.The proportions of age (54.54 ± 12.59 years vs.64.43 ± 10.37 years;t =-3.960,P ＜0.001),years of education ≤6 years (50.7％ vs.11.5％;x2 =12.257,P ＜ 0.001),and cerebral atherosclerosis (89.3％ vs.50.0％;x2 =18.137,P ＜0.001) of the cognitive impairment group were significantly higher than those of the normal cognitive function group.Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that cerebral atherosclerosis was an independent risk factor for cognitive impairment in patients with acute ischemic stroke (odds ratio 1.720,95％ confidence interval 1.005-2.942;P=0.048).MoCA score was negatively correlated with the offending vessels (r=-0.365,P＜ 0.001) and the most severe vessels of atherosclerotic degree (r=-0.243,P =0.014).Conclusions Most patients with acute ischemic stroke had cognitive impairment in the early stage after onset,and the MoCA scores was negatively correlated with the degree of cerebral atherosclerosis.Cerebral atherosclerosis was an independent risk factor for cognitive impairment in patientswith acute ischemic stroke.

With the increase of morbidity and mortality, pancreatic cancer will not only become one of the leading causes of death in China, but also a major public health problem in the world. New onset cases of pancreatic cancer all around the world are expected to increase year by year. The prognosis of patients with pancreatic cancer is poor. The 5-year survival rate is only about 6%. The major reason for the poor prognosis is the lack of typical clinical symptoms in the early stage of disease, which makes it difficult to detect and control its relevant recurrence and metastasis. Moreover, lack of effective chemotherapy drugs and resistance to existing chemotherapy drugs are also important reasons for its dismal status. Radical resection surgery is still the most effective treatment. However, even after radical resection surgery, early recurrence and distant metastasis are still the main problems that bother patients. This article reviews recent high quality studies on pancreatic cancer including epidemiological investigation, advances in basic research, and clinical treatment.
