1.Effect of X-rays on the expression of B7-1 and B7-2 in per itoneal macrophages
Journal of Jilin University(Medicine Edition) 2001;27(2):111-113
Objective: The effect of whole body irradiation (WBI) on B7-1 and B7-2 express ion in peritoneal macrophages in mice was observed. Methods:Immunohistochemistry (ABC method) was used. Results: The upregulation of B7-2 expression induced by WBI X-rays appeared ea r lier than that of B7-1.The study on the dose-effect relationship showed that t he ex pression of both B7-1 and B7-2 reached its peak at 0.075 Gy after WBI X-rays. Th e doses inducing a second peak of B7-1 and B7-2 upregulation were higher in th e case of WBI in comparison with in vitro irradiation. Conclusion: The results suggested that the upregulation of expression of B7 mole cules after irradiation might be an important factor involved in the enhancing e ffect of low dose radiation on immunity.

Objective To explore the death distribution characteristics of heart disease and the strategies for its prevention and control, based on data of the death rates of different heart diseases among the residents of Henan province from 1987 to 2006. Methods The mortality rates of heart diseases during past 20 years were analyzed by age, sex, living places (urban vs. rural), and by patterns of heart disease as well with SAS9.1. Results In these past 20 years, the mortality rates of heart diseases ranged from 60.93 to 85.10 per 100 000. The annual mortality rate averaged 74.47 per 100 000, and the standardized mortality rate was 61.10 per 100 000, which equaled to 13.14% of the total death number. The death rates of heart diseases had increased significantly with age. Among the male and female of the cities or the rural, the death was mainly due to coronary heart disease. Concludes According to the death distribution characteristics of heart diseases in Henan Province, the prevention and control efforts should focus on the population over 35 years of age.

Objective To estimate the death number of children under age 5 in Linzhou city during 2004 to 2005 using the capture-recapture method, and to evaluate the integrality of data about the children death report in all death cause registry. Methods The data of children death were collected from sources of registry office, village symposium for the 3rd national death cause survey and police registries. Cases in every source were matched on the name, sex, age, date of death, cause of death and resident address. To fit for dependencies and heterogeneities between three sources, a log-linear model in stratified age and gender was used to estimate the death number of children which did not appear in three sources. Results It was reported that death number of children under age 5 was 359 and the mortality was 2.16% for combined three sources; but from the registry office, the number and mortality were 291 and 1.75%, respectively. The capture-recapture method estimated that the number of death was 398 and the mortality was 2.39%. Under-reporting rates of registry and aggregate database were 26.9% and 9.8%. Female deaths were more likely to go unreported. Under-reporting rates of registry got higher with the decrease of the age at death. Conclusion Registry office or aggregated database underestimated the death number of children under age 5. On the base of data which were collected from police, village and registry, using the capture-recapture method can adjust the death number of children.

Chinese Journal of Interventional Cardiology 1996;0(01):-
Objective To evaluate the changes of QT dispersion (QTd) after successful percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA) or stent implantation during the recovery period after acute myocardial infarction (AMI).Methods We studied 57 AMI patients who underwent PTCA or stent implantation and 86 normal coronary artery subjects used as control. Maximal and minimal QT interval (QT max and QT min) and QTd (QTd=QT max-QT min) were measured using 12-lead electrocardiography within 1 d before and 1 h after PTCA and stent implantation or coronary angiography. Results QTd and corrected QT dispersion (QTcd) were significantly prolonged in patients with AMI compared with control group. There was no significant difference in QTd and QTcd between anterior AMI and inferior one. QT max, QTc max, QTd and QTcd after PTCA or stent implantation were significantly decreased. Conclusion QTd and QTcd were significantly decreased after successful PTCA or stent implantation which were performed during the recovery period of AMI, which shows it can produce beneficial effects in decreasing the risk of ventricular arrhythmia and reducing mortality in AMI patients.
