Objective To study the effect of IFN-αcombined with ATRA in liver cancer therapy in perioperative phase of inter-vention .Methods An animal model of liver cancer CBRH7919 was established by implanting 28 Wistar rats with tumor tissue .The hepatic artery was tied off in one month after formation of tumor .All the rats were randomly divided into the experimental group (14 cases) and the control group(14 cases) .The control group accepted peritoneal injection with normal saline while the experimen-tal group accepted IFN-αcombined with ATRA .10 days later ,all the rats were sacrificed .And the level of expression of VEGF ,bF-GF ,mirovessel density ,and apoptotic index of tumor cells were measured .Results Serum VEGF level ,MVD and apoptotic index of tumor cells of the experimental group were statistically lower than that of the control group [(91 .8 ± 12 .7) pg/mL ,(115 .7 ± 11 .8)/HP ,(12 .29 ± 4 .53)% vs .(67 .4 ± 18 .3)pg/mL ,(65 .3 ± 7 .2)/HP ,(3 .81 ± 1 .52)% ,t=4 .099、13 .642、6 .640 ,P<0 .05)] , results of RT-PCR and immunohistochemistry detection both showed that the levels of expression of VEGF and bFGF of the exper-imental group was lower than that of the control group .Conclusion IFN-αcombined with ATRA in liver cancer therapy in periop-erative phase of intervention could suppress the generation of neoplastic vascular and improve the effect of the intervention .So it is worth promoting .

Objective To know the contamination situation of the centralized air conditioning-ventilating systems in hotels in Shenzhen City, Guangzhou province and to ensure the indoor air quality when the centralized air conditioning-ventilating systems were at working. Methods 22 hotels were selected to determine the total count of bacteria and fungi in internal surface of pipes and air blow, the dust volume of internal surfaces of pipes, inhalable particulate matter(PM10) in air blow, and Legionellae in cooling tower water. Results The eligibility percent of dust volume, the total number of bacteria and fungi in internal surface was 94.76 %, 95.71% and 91.90 % respectively,the eligibility percent of PM10, the total count of bacteria and fungi in air blow was 42.54%, 94.76% and 84.29% respectively, and the detected rate of Legionellae was 57.50%. Conclusion The pollution in some degrees has been observed in the centralized air conditioning-ventilating systems in hotels of Shenzhen City, so it is considered as the important measure to improve indoor air quality and ensure people health to strengthen management of centralized air conditioning-ventilating systems in the usage.

Objective:To research the anti-dysmenorrhea effect of different extracts of Rupixiao granules. Methods:The anti-dys-menorrhea effect of different extracts of Rupixiao granules was studied by writhing test induced by oxytocin in mice. Results:Compared with the model group, the extracts of Rupixiao granules could reduce the writhing times induced by oxytocin significantly (P<0. 05,P<0. 01 or P<0. 001), and the water-soluble extract showed the best effect (P<0. 001) without significant difference when compared with the positive control group(P>0. 05). Conclusion:The water-soluble parts of Rupixiao granules have significant anti-dysmenor-rhea effect.

Objective To explore the action mechanism of shenxiong glucose injection in treatment of acute spinal cord injury(SCI) through observing its effects on the recovery of motor function and the expression of aquaporin-4(AQP-4) in SCI rats.Methods Totally 90 healthy,aduh,Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into a sham operation group (n=30),aSCI group (n=30) and a drug group (n=30).The SCI rat models in both the SCI group and the drup group were established aecording to the modified Allen's method,while the sham operation group was only given laminectomy.After the operation,the drug group was given intraperitoneal shenxiong glucose injection of 30 rnl/kg a day,while the other two groups were injected in the same way with normal saline.The neural function recovery,the pathological changes after SCI and the expressions of AQP-4 were observed 1,3,7,14 and 21 d after the operation using the Tarlov score,the hematoxylin and eosin staining,as well as immunofluorescence techniques and Western blotting.And the correlation of Tarlov scores with AQP-4 expressions was analyzed.Results No significant changes in Tarlov scores were observed in the sham operation group (P ＞ 0.05),while in the SCI group and the drug group,postoperative Tarlov scores decreased significantly.The hindlimb nerve function recovered to some degree with time in the SCI group and drug group.At 3,7,14 and 21 days after the operation,the Tarlov scores in the drug group were significantly higher than the SCI group (P ＜ 0.05).The drug group showed less severe pathological changes,with more residual neurons still visible of nucleoli than the SCI group 21 days after the operation.Compared with the sham operation group,the expression levels of AQP-4 were significantly higher in the SCI group and drug group at all the time points (P ＜ 0.05).However,the expression levels of AQP-4 in the drug group were significantly lower than the SCI group accordingly (P ＜ 0.05).The Tarlov scores were found to be significantly and negatively related to the AQP-4 protein expression levels 3 days(r =-0.523,P =0.003),7 days(r =-0.437,P=0.016),14 days(r=-0.417,P=0.022) and 21 days(r=-0.377,P=0.040)after the operation.Conclusion Injecting shenxiong with glucose can effectively promote the recovery of motor function after SCI,at least in rats.And its mechanism may be that the development of spinal cord edema is prevented and the secondary spinal cord injury alleviated by restraining the expressions of AQ P-4 in the injured areas.

BACKGROUND: Various factors contribute to the establishment of liver transplantation models in rhesus monkey, the rate of successful operation and long-term survival are very low. OBJECTIVE: To analyze the cause of early death following liver transplantation in rhesus monkey. METHODS: Liver transplantation models were fabricated with the classical and modified methods in rhesus monkeys. Operation of donor was performed quickly by a big crucial incision of abdomen. The improved double-cuff of the portal vein and inferior vena cava were finished, in addition to stay pipe of biliary tract in the process of repairing donor liver. Operation of the receptor was performed by classical orthotopic liver transplantation. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: A total of 25 pairs of rhesus monkeys were successfully for establishing liver transplantation models. Seven rhesus monkeys died within early stage of post-operation, including six out of nine monkeys died by using the classical approach and one out of sixteen monkeys died by using the improved approach. There were five of seven monkeys died of intra-abdominal hemorrhage, one died of primary graft nonfunction and one died of respiratory failure. Results indicated that, the major death cause after classical orthotopic liver transplantation in rhesus monkey is abdominal hemorrhage. The improved methods of liver transplantation apparently reduce the hemorrhage and raise early survival rate following liver transplantation.

Objective To determine the prevalence of metabolic syndrome ( MS) in women who had gone through natural menopause, and to provide basic data for developing effective prevention and intervention of metabolic syndrome in Taixing area Jiangsu province. Methods A cluster sample of natural postmenopausal women aged 45 to 64 years were sampled and assessed by questionnaires, physical measurements, and biochemical tests; and analyzed according to the International Diabetes Federation ( IDF, 2005) diagnostic criteria for MS. Results The crude prevalence of metabolic syndrome was 35. 25% and the standardized prevalence rate was 31. 47% after age being adjusted. The prevalence of metabolic syndrome was increased with age ( P < 0. 01). The constituent ratio of the combinations of 3, 4, and 5 components in MS was 21. 45% , 10. 73% , and 3. 07% , respectively. Conclusion The prevalence of the metabolic syndrome among older women after menopause is high and increasing with aging. Public education should be strengthened to improve the quality of life in postmenopausal women and prevention and intervention should be adopted earlier as well.

Objective:To investigate the anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects of Rupixiao granules. Methods:Activity of Rupixi-ao granules against xylene-induced ear edema in mice was measured to evaluate the anti-inflammatory effect, while the analgesic effect was evaluated by acetic acid induced writhing test and hot plate test in mice. Results:Compared with the control group, Rupixiao gran-ules groups (1. 0, 2. 0 and 4. 0 g·kg·d-1) could significantly inhibit ear swelling in mice(P<0. 05 or 0. 001), and reduce the acetic acid induced writhing times(P<0. 01 or 0. 001). Rupixiao granules at medium and high dose could significantly increase the pain thresh-old of mice in the hot plate test. Conclusion:Rupixiao granules exhibit significant anti-inflammatory and analgesic activities.

Objective To study effects of Rupixiao granules on contraction of uterus of mice in vitro. Methods Mouse model with isolated uterine contraction was established. The mice pretreated with estradiol benzoate were sacrificed and then the uteri were taken out. The normal contractions were recorded by the biological function system. Effects of 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60 mg.mL-1 Rupixiao granules on spontaneous and oxytocin-induced (5 U.L-1) uterine contractions were recorded,inhibition of Rupixiao granules on mean constriction amplitude,constriction frequency and contraction activity of pitocin-pretreated uterus was observed and the inhibition rates were calculated. Results Compared with the baselines, the amplitude, frequency, activity of spontaneous uterine contraction were significantly down-regulated by Rupixiao solution at a range of 10-60 mg.mL-1 ,as well as it could inhibit oxytocin-induced spasmodic contraction of isolated uterus at 10-50 mg . mL-1 ( P<0. 01 ) . Conclusion The Rupixiao granules inhibits spontaneous contraction of isolated mouse uteri and oxytocin-induced spasm of uterine smooth muscle in vitro.

Objective To explore improvement of orthotopic liver transplantation model in rhesus monkey.Methods Healthy rhesus monkeys were chosen to perform orthotopic liver transplantation for 10 cases.The model was established by drawing on a variety of animal model methods,and the portal vein cuff method was used to establish stable model of orthotopic liver transplantation in rhesus monkeys.Results Ten orthotopic liver transplantation models in rhesus were performed,and the achievement ratio of operation was 10/10.The time of donor hepatectomy and donor preparation was (20?5) min and (30?7) min,respectively.The operation time of recipient and anhepatic phase were (180?35) min and (17?4) min,respectively.After 24 h of operation 9 cases survived,one case died of intra-abdominal hemorrhage after 9 h of operation.After 72 h of operation 8 cases survived,and one case died of upper gastrointestinal bleeding after 38 h of operation.After one week of operation 5 cases survived,and 3 cases died of rejection after 9,11,and 11 d of operation,respectively.The longest survival time was 32 d,but all of them also died of rejection.No portal vein thrombosis and biliary complications were found in all recipients.Conclusion The improved rhesus monkey model of orthotopic liver transplantation is easy to perform with high achievement ratio of operation.It is an ideal animal model for pre-clinical studies of liver transplantation.

Objective To gain experimental data about breeding Musca domestica larvae by pig manure and to evaluate the effects and cost-benefit of feeding hens with larvae instead of fish powder. Methods The concentration of fatty acids and trace elements in the larvae bred with man-made fodder or pig manure were measured. The quality of eggs produced by hens fed with the larva powder or fresh larvae was investigated. Results The contents of trace elements (Ca,Fe,Cu,Zn,Se) of the larvae bred with pig manure were higher than those with man-made fodder(P0.05). Conclusion Breeding Musca domestica larvae with pig manure could produce good larva protein and reduce the expenses. The quality of the egg produced by the hens fed with larvae is as good as the quality of common eggs.
