Objective To investigate the effect of isoflurane anesthesia during early pregnancy on the cognitive function of offspring rats.Methods Thirty SD rats at 5-7 day gestation were randomly divided into 3 groups ( n =10 each):control group (group C) and 2 isoflurane groups (groups Ⅰ1,Ⅰ2).Groups Ⅰ1 and Ⅰ2 inhaled 1.4％ isoflurane in O2 for 4 and 8 h respectively while group C inhaled 95 ％ O2 for 8 h.At 20 and 30 days after birth,offspring rats from 5 pregnant rats were tested for learning and memory abilities using Morris water maze.The offsprings were sacrificed at 7 days after test and their hippocampi were isolated for determination of N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor subunit 2B (NR2B) mRNA and protein expression.Results There were no significant differences in the results of Morris water maze test and NR2B mRNA and protein expression among the three groups.Conclusion Isoflurane anesthesia during early pregnancy has no effect on the cognitive function of the offspring rats.

Objective To investigate the effect of inhalation of enflurane on the expression of N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor subunit 2B (NR2B) in the hippocampus of the offsprings of rats.Methods Thirty SD rats pregnancy 8-10 day weighing 200-250 g were randomly divided into 3 groups ( n =10 each):control group (Group C),4 h inhalation of enflurane group ( group E1 ) and 8 h inhalation of enflurane group ( group E2 ).Group E1 and E2inhaled 1.7 ％ enflurane (in O2 2 L/min) for 4 and 8 h respectively,while group C inhaled oxygen 2 L/rin for 8 h.The learning and memory functions of the offsprings were assessed at 20 and 30 days after birth by Morris maze test.The expression of the NR2B mRNA were examined by RT-PCR,NR2B protein were examined by mmunohistochemistry.Results Compared with group C,the escape latency was significantly prolonged,the frequency of crossing the original platform was significantly decreased,the staying time at the original platform quadrant was significantly shortened at 3-5 days after the test in group E1 and E2 (.P ＜ 0.05 ),the expression levels of NR2B mRNA and protein were significantly decreased at 20 and 30 days after birth in group E1 and E2 ( P ＜ 0.05).There were no significant differences in the indexes mentioned above between groups E1 and F2 ( P ＞ 0.05).Conclusion Inhalation enflurane in the early pregnancy can result in cognition dysfunction through inhibiting NR2B expression in the hippocampus of the offsprings of the rats.

Objective To summarize the cl inical characteristics and imaging features of psittacosis. Methods The clinical features and imaging appearances of 3 cases with acute psittacosis were retrospectively analyzed. The related literature was reviewed . Results The clinical manifestation of psittacosis was high fever in the patients. Physical findings included pulse-temperature dis sociation, localized lung crackles, hepatomegaly, and splenomegaly. Laboratory findings showed elevation of ESR in all cases, and liver dysfunction was present in 2 cases. The counts of white blood cells were normal, but the percent of ne utrophils might be increased. The chest X-ray and CT scan showed air-space co nsolidation and ground-glass attenuation in the lung, and miliary, nodular, or consolidated shadows were found in pathological areas. Pleural effusions were a lso present in 2 cases. Psittacosis was diagnosed from the history of exposure to infected parrots and elevation of the IgG and IgM titer for Chlamydia psittac i. Erythromycin was effective in all 3 patients. Conclusion Although the appearance of psittacosis on clinical findings and chest X-r ay and CT scan is not characteristic, psittacosis can be diagnosed with the comb ination of the history of exposure to infected parrots and laboratory findings. CT scan can reveal the focus earlier and accurately, and catching the imaging f eatures of psittacosis is helpful in differential diagnosis.

Objective To study improvement of neural function by stereotaxic transplantation of adipose-derived stem cells (ADSC) into lateral cerebral ventricle after intracerebral hemorrhage in rats and its mechanism. Methods ADSC were cultured and proliferated in vitro, which had been marked with Brdu for 48 h before transplantation. The rat caudate nucleus hemorrhage (ICH) models were divided into 2 groups. ADSC were stereotaxically transplanted into the right lateral ventricles in ADSC group, and equal volume of saline was transplanted into control group. The score of neurological behavior were evaluated at modeling and 1, 3, 7, 14, 28 days after transplantation respectively.Double-staining immunofluorescence technique was used to detect Brdu-positive cells and the differentiation of neurons and astrocytes. In accordance with the instructions of TUNEL kit, cell apoptosis, and the expression of VEGF and angiogenesis were assayed. Results In vitro ADSC expressed undergo osteogenic and adipogenic differentiation. Compared with the control group, ADSC group had better motor function at 3, 7, and 14 days (P＜0. 05). Double-staining immunofluorescence showed mostly grafted Brdu-reactive ADSC had migrated to the hematoma zone, and some survivedand expressed Neun of Gfap. TUNEL analysis revealed that, 3 days after transplantation, the number of apoptotic cells in ADSC group was significantly less than in the control group (P＜0. 05). Three days after transplantation, VEGF expression levels in ADSC group were significantly higher than in the control group (P＜0. 05). Conclusion ADSC stereotaxially transplanted into the lateral ventricle can survive and differentiate into neuron-like cells. ADSC transplantation may reduce apoptosis and secret VEGF to promote the angiogenesis, and improve neural functional in intracerebral hemorrhage rats.
