Journal of Acupuncture and Tuina Science 2014;(4):246-250
Objective: To observe the clinical effects of comprehensive treatmenton cutaneous region for low back pain.
Methods: One hundred and twenty outpatients with low back pain who met the diagnostic criteria were randomly divided into a cutaneous region group or a medication group, 60 cases in each group. The cases in the cutaneous region group were treated by Nie-pinching up the skin of the lumbosacral region, cupping and acupuncture. Those in the medication group were treated by oral administration of Celecoxib capsule. The visual analogue scale (VAS) and Oswestry disability index (ODI) were used to assess the therapeutic effects.
Results: After treatment, the VAS scores of both groups were different from those before treatment, showing statistical significances (allP<0.01). The D-valuse of VAS scores of both groups were different from those before treatment, showing statistical significances (allP<0.01). The D-value of OID scores in the cutaneous region group was significantly different from that in the medication group(P<0.01). After treatment, the total effective rate was 91.7% in the cutaneous region group versus 76.7% in the medication group, there was a significant difference in comparing the clinical effect (P<0.01).
Conclusion: Both comprehensive treatment on the cutaneous region and Celecoxib capsule can obviously relieve low back pain. But comprehensive treatment on the cutaneous region is better than Celecoxib capsule in the therapeutic effects.
2.Endoscopic management of large common bile duct stones
Journal of Clinical Hepatology 2014;30(12):1233-1235
With the development of endoscopic techniques in recent years, therapeutic endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography has replaced surgery as the first approach to the extraction of common bile duct stones.Endoscopic sphincterotomy and endoscopic papillary bal-loon dilation have become established endoscopic techniques for stone removal. However,it remains a challenge for endoscopists to remove large common bile duct stones.Emerging endoscopic modalities, such as endoscopic papillary large balloon dilation and cholangioscopy-guided laser or electrohydraulic lithotripsy, have been shown to be safe and effective for management of large common bile duct stones. This paper reviews recent advances in the endoscopic management of large common bile duct stones.

Objective:[WT5BZ]The effect of different contents of zinc in feed on learning and memory function and brain somatostatin, zinc and calcium concentrations in rats were studied. [WT5HZ]Methods:[WT5BZ]The feeds contained 20, 50, 100, 200, 400, 800 mg/kg zinc respectively. The learning and memory function of animals were determined by radioimmunoassay.Their zinc and calcium contents were determined by atomic absorption spectrophotometry. [WT5HZ]Results:[WT5BZ]Feeds containing 100 and 200 mg/kg zinc were adequate for learning and memory function of rats, whereas other feeds resulted in poor learning and memory function, and depression in somatostatin concentration in hypothalamus, hippocampus and cerebrum cortex.Additionally, feeds containing lower than 100 mg/kg zinc decreased zinc concentrations in blood, hippocampus, cerebrum cortex and hypothalamus, and calcium concentration in cerebrum cortex. [WT5HZ]Conclusion:[WT5BZ]These results suggest that 100 200 mg/kg zinc in feed is adequate for maintaining learning and memory function in rats.

Objective To investigate the effect of immune modulation therapy on heart function and cytokines in elder patients with chronic heart failure (CHF). Methods The 96 patients aged 60-78 years with New York Heart Association(NYHA)functional. class Ⅱ-Ⅳ CHF were randomly divided into two groups: CHF treatment group received regular therapy and thymopetidum and CHF control group received regular therapy. Another 45 healthy individuals aged 60-80 years were involved as normal control. The ejection faction of left ventricle (LVEF), inflammatory cytokines including tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) and interleukin-1β (IL-1β), anti-inflammatory cytokine interleukin-10 (IL-10), plasma high sensitive C-reactive protein (hsCRP), plasma brain natrium peptide (BNP)and Minnesota Living with Heart Failure Questionnaire (LHFQ) assessment were tested before therapy, 15 days and 75 days after treatment. Results (1) Before therapy, compared with normal control group, the levels of TNF-α, IL-1β, TNF-α/IL-10 ratio, BNP, hsCRP and LHFQ were significantly increased (P < 0. 05 or P < 0. 01 ), and the levels of IL-10, LVEF were markedly decreased (P<0.01) in the patients of CHF treatment group and CHF control group. While no difference between the two CHF groups was observed. (2) After the first course of treatment, compared with CHF control group, the levels of IL-10 were increased (P<0. 01), while the levels of TNF-α, IL-1β, BNP and hsCRP were decreased (P<0.05 or P<0.01) in CHF treatment group. The level of LVEF was increased, TNF-α/IL-10 ratio (4.84 ±0. 53 vs. 5.28±0. 66) and LHFQ were decreased even though there was no significant difference between the two groups. (3) After the second course of treatment, compared with CHF control group, the levels of IL-10 and LVEF were increased (P<0. 05 or P<0.01), while the level of TNF-α, IL-1β, TNF-α/IL-10 ratio (4.55±0. 69 vs. 5.18±0.38), BNP, hsCRP and LHFQ were decreased (P<0.05 or P<0.01) in CHF treatment group. Conclusions Thymopetidum, as an immunemodulating agent, might regulate the equilibrium of cytokines and improve the heart function of patients with CHF, indicating that immune modulation therapy might improve the treatment strategy for CHF patients.
