Objective:
To investigate the mediating effects of resilience and emotion regulation on family cumulative risk and positive coping style among primary and middle school students, so as to provide insights into promoting psychological health among them.
Methods:
The primary and middle school students from three counties (districts) of Baise City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region were selected through the stratified cluster random sampling method. Resilience, emotion regulation, family cumulative risk and positive coping style were investigated using the Resilience Scale for Chinese adolescent, Emotion Regulation Questionnaire, Chinese family Assessment Instrument, and Simple Coping Strategies Questionnaire, respectively. Mediating effects of resilience and emotion regulation on family cumulative risk and positive coping style were examined using Process macro program.
Results:
Totally 1 076 questionnaires were allocated, and 1 006 valid questionnaires were recovered, with an effective rate of 93.49%. There were 515 boys, accounting for 51.19%. The median age was 13 (interquartile range, 1) years. The mean scores of resilience, emotion regulation and positive coping style were (3.36±0.63), (2.26±0.56) and (1.85±0.39) points, respectively. The median family cumulative risk index was 0 (interquartile range, 0). The results of mediating effects showed that family cumulative risk had a direct negative effect on positive coping style (β=-0.037, 95%CI: -0.059 to -0.014, P=0.011), and also had an indirect negative effect on positive coping style through psychological resilience (β=-0.029, 95%CI: -0.041 to -0.017, P=0.006) as a mediator or through psychological resilience and emotion regulation (β=-0.002, 95%CI: -0.004 to -0.001, P=0.001) as a chain mediator. The mediating effect of resilience contributed 44% to the total effect, while the chain mediating effect of resilience and emotion regulation contributed 3%.
Conclusion
Resilience and emotional regulation serve as negative mediators between family cumulative risk and positive coping style among middle and primary school students.

This cross-sectional study examined cigarette smoking knowledge, attitudes, and practices among medical students in a southwestern region of China. The subjects included 557 and 223 first and fourth year Chinese medical students, respectively. Comparison data were collected from 74 Japanese and 90 Vietnamese fourth year medical students. The smoking rate among the fourth year medical students in China (7.0%) was significantly higher than among the first year medical students (2.8%), and higher than among the medical students from Vietnam, but lower than the medical students from Japan. The fourth year Chinese students had a more permissive attitude toward cigarette smoking by physicians compared with the first year students, and the lowest knowledge base on cigarette smoking-related diseases among the students from all three countries. Based on a multivariate analysis, the factors associated with cigarette smoking were male gender, having friends who smoked, and exhibiting a permissive attitude toward smoking. Implementations aimed at improving tobacco education and addressing the gender differences and peer influences related to cigarette smoking are needed to improve Chinese medical students’ knowledge and attitudes about cigarette smoking, and to prevent students from starting to smoke cigarettes.

OBJECTIVEDynamic changes of quality and growth of Whitmania pigra were investigated to provide theoretical basis for quality control and determination of optimal harvest time.
METHODThe contents of moisture, ethanol-soluble extractive, total ash, and acid-insoluble ash, as well as antithrombin activity were determined according to Chinese pharmacopoeia (2005 edition).
RESULTQualities of W. pigra collected from different growth stages met the standards of Chinese pharmacopoeia (2005 edition). The highest amount of ethanol-soluble extract was found in 9-month-old, W. pigra, followed by 6-month-aged ones. And there was significant difference between 9-month-old and 4-month-old, 7 month-old and 11 month-old (P < 0.05). The highest antithrombin activity was detected in 6 month-old W. pigra, followed by 10 month-old. Significant differences of antithrombin activity were found between 6-month-old and 4 month-old ones, and 5 month-old (P < 0.05), however, there were no significant difference between 6 month-old ones with other samples. Eleven-month-old W. pigra got the most dry weight, and there were significant difference between 11 month-old ones with other samples (P < 0.05).
CONCLUSIONNovember, namely for 6 month old artificial cultivated W. pigra was the best harvest time in Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces.
