Chinese Pharmacological Bulletin 2014;(5):688-691
Aim To investigate the inhibitory effect of salidroside on tumor growth in tumor-bearing mice and explore its possible mechanisms of anti-tumor action in vivo. Methods The tumor-bearing mice model was established, and the mice were randomly divided into five experimantal groups, including the salidroside low, medium and high doses groups, NS group and positive control matrine group. After continuous injec-tion of drug for eight days, the tumor growth and sur-vival time were measured, tumor growth inhibition rate and life extension rate, spleen index, the content of se-rum IL-2 and IL-12 were calculated. Results The general situation of the salidroside mice was better than the NS group and the positive control matrine group. Compared with NS group, the salidroside low, medium and high doses groups showed inhibitory effects on H22 solid tumor ( P<0. 01 ) with inhibition ratio 28. 9 %, 43. 3 % and 53. 5 %,and lengthened the survival time of mice ( P<0. 01 ) with the life extension rate 37. 54%,48. 96 % and 52. 85 % respectively. The spleen index and the content of serum IL-2 and IL-12 of the salidroside mice were significantly higher than NS group and matrine group. Conclusion Salidroside has marked inhibitory effects on tumor growth in vivo, its mechanism is probably related to improving the anti-tumor immune function.

BACKGROUND: Rhodiola rosco L acts on anti-aging,anti-fatigue and improving immunity in human body and improves angina pectoris.OBJECTIVE: To study the effect of rhodiola root on heart hemodynamics and myocardial contractility and probe into its mechanism.DESIGN: Observational and controlled based on the experimental animals.SETTING: Department of physiology in a medical university.MATERIALS: The experiment was performed in Laboratory of Cardiac Vessels of Department of Physiology of Guangxi Medical University, from January to April 2001.Thirty New Zealand white rabbits of either sex, weighted varied from 1.9 to 2.3 kg,were randomized into two groups, named as the control(physiological saline 4 mL/kg) and rhodiola sacra SH Fu (nuodikang) group(0.5 g/4 mL · kg-1),15 rabbits in each group. A hundred common wild frogs were employed, weighted varied from 120 to 160 g,randomized into 4 groups, named as the control group of physiological saline, nuodikang of small dosage group(blood concentration 209 mg/L),nuodikang of moderate dosage group(blood concentration 418 mg/L) and nuodikang of large dosage group(blood concentration 627 mg/L),25 frogs in each group.METHODS: ms2000 multiple medium biological signal analysis system was applied,by Straub method, frog heart perfusion specimen in vitro was prepared and the cardiac activity was assayed. The relevant indexes of ventricle activity in rabbits were determined with hemodynamics.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Comparison of hemodynamics changes in rabbits of two groups and the comparison of effects of nuodikang at various dosages on frog heart work in vitro.RESULTS: Myocardial contractility in every nuodikang group was strengthened remarkably compared with the control(F = 8.939, P<0.01 ), the myocardial contractility in nuodikang groups at the dosages of 209 mg/L,418 mg/L and 627 mg/L was in the tendency of increasing, strengthened by 52. 3%,70. 1% and 86.4% respectively. But the significant difference was not apparent in the comparison among experimental groups(P>0.05). The significant difference in frog heart rates among groups was not apparent(P>0.05). Concerning to hemodynamics in rabbits,in nuodikang groups, the maximum increasing rate of pressure in the left ventricle was increased by 22.1% (F = 6.259,P<0.05),the mean pressure of artery was decreased by 8.2% (F = 5.688, P<0.05) . The significant difference in other indexes was not apparent in the comparison between the control and nuodikang groups.CONCLUSION: Nuodikang strengthens myocardial contractility and speeds up myocardial contraction, but does not present remarkable influence on myocardial dilation; simultaneously it reduces the mean pressure of artery.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the GC fingerprint of fatty acids in peach seed, and provide evidences for quality assessment on peach seed.
METHODCapillary gas chromatography was applied in analysis of fatty acids in peach seed, and the distinctive information was confirmed by GC-MS with hierarchical cluster and species similarity analysis.
RESULTThe GC fingerprint containing distinctive information was obtained after investigation of peach seeds from 34 varieties and origins.
CONCLUSIONWith Good reproducibility, fingerprints established for peach seeds provided an effective method for quality control.

ObjectiveTo study the effect of menbranous milkvetch root parenteral solution on insulin resistance of gerontism cerebral infarction in recovery stage.Methods66 patients with gerontism cerebral infarction were randomly divided into therapy group(33 cases) which received membranous milkvetch root parenteral solution and control group(33 cases). Both groups adopted routine treatment at the same time, the period was 20 days. Insulin(Ins), free blood sugar(FBS), total cholesterol(CH), triglyceride(TG), hemorheology and insulin resistance(indicating by index of insulin sensitive) of blood on empty stomach were evalutated before and after treatment. ResultsAfter treatment there was decrease in CH, FBS, FINS in therapy group than in control group(P<0.01 or P<0.05); the clinical effect in therapy group was better than in control group(P<0.01).ConclusionMembranous milkvetch root parenteral solution can significantly decrease insulin resistance, blood lipin, blood viscosity in recovery stage of gerontism cerebral infarction, and improve clinical efficiency.

s: The onset of Crohn’s disease (CD) is the interaction of environment, heredity, infection, immune and other factors. It is also closely related to abnormal immune functions. Without special treatment, CD is identified as a modern refractory disease. By syndrome differentiation and treatment, traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) can effectively relieve disease conditions, improve the quality of life and reduce side effects of modern medication. The core compatibility ofBai-Zhu andFu-Ling can reinforce spleen-qi and dispel dampness, which met the common pathogenesis of CD. Therefore, the combination is comprehensively used in the compound prescription. Our previous study found thatBai-Zhu Fu-Ling decoctioncan reduce the vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP) of animal model of spleen-qi deficiency, downregulate VIP receptors, decrease the affinity of VIP receptors and improve animal model’s sIgA. To further clarify the effects about neurotransmitters and their correlation with the immune system in the pathogenesis of CD and the intervention mechanism treated by different proportional compatibility ofBai-Zhu Fu-Ling decoction, we studied influences of the decoction on related transmitters of nerve- immune network and functions of receptors, as well as cytokine secretion and signal transduction of TLR4-NF-κB. Our studies can provide references and foundations to further explore TCM treatment of CD.
