1.Advance on targeted therapy for the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer
Cancer Research and Clinic 2010;22(1):7-10
Recent progress in molecular biology has enabled us to better understand the molecular mechanism underlying pathogenesis of human malignancy including lung cancer, the advent of therapies based on mechanisms that target critical molecular pathways of tumors has evoked considerable interest. The therapeutic index is high, and optimally effective treatment can be achieved at a dose below the maximal tolerated dose, giving us a better understanding of the human lung cancer. This review focuses on the advance of targeted therapy for the first-line, second-line treatment or the maintenance treatment of non-small cell lung cancer.
2.Clinical value of serum CA19-9 levels in preoperative evaluation of resectability of pancreatic carcinoma
Chinese Journal of Pancreatology 2010;10(4):251-253
Objective To evaluate the value of serum CA 19-9 levels in predicting resectability of pancreatic cancer. Methods Serum CA 19-9 levels of 52 patients with pancreatic cancer who were possible to be curatively resected according to the imaging were determined; the gold standard was respectability. An receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve was constructed for the CA 19-9 levels; the point that lies closest to the upper left-hand comer of the graph is chosen as the cut-off point, the sensitivity, specificity, positive and negative predictive values were calculated. Results There were 29 (55.8%) resectable and 23 (44.2%) inoperable cases of pancreatic cancers. The CA19-9 level in resectable patients was (159.6±170.9)U/ml, and it was (944.4 ±773.4) U/ml in inoperable cases. The area under the ROC curve was 0. 918 ( > 0.9, P < 0.01 ), 95% confidence interval were 0.843 ~ 0.992. The CA19-9 level was (353.2) U/ml according to the cut-off point, the sensitivity and specificity was 93.1% and 78.3%, respectively; positive and negative predictive values was 84. 4% and 90. 0% , respectively. Conclusions Preoperative serum CA19-9 level may be a useful marker for further evaluating the respectability of pancreatic cancer who are possible to be resected according to the imaging studies.
3.Targeted therapy of lung cancer-data from Asia
China Oncology 1998;0(01):-
3 months. Female gender, adenocarcinoma history, non-smoking history, good PS and the presence of multiple lung metastases are associated with improved responsiveness to Gefitinib. Reflecting the results of previous clinical trials, the reports indicate that Gefitinib is generally well tolerated by Asian patients. The incidence of interstitial lung disease appears to be higher in Japanese than non-Japanese patients, although the reason for this is not clear. Recent findings regarding Erlotinib and other targeted therapy among Asian patients are discussed.
4.Effect of terazosin hydrochloride combined with finasteride on serum TNF-αand PSA in elderly patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia
Chinese Journal of Biochemical Pharmaceutics 2016;36(4):97-99
Objective To explore the effect of terazosin hydrochloride combined with finasteride on serum TNF-αand PSA in old patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia. Methods 64 elderly patients of benign prostatic hyperplasia were randomly divided into 2 groups, 32 cases in each group.2 groups were given routine treatment and symptomatic treatment, the control group was given finasteride; the experimental group were treated with terazosin hydrochloride combined with finasteride.A cycle of 2 groups were 28 d, a total of 1 cycle of treatment.Clinical efficacy, maximum urinary flow rate, prostate volume, residual urine volume, international prostate symptom score(IPSS), serum tumor necrosis factor alpha, prostate specific antigen level and adverse reactions were compared after the end of treatment. Results Compared with before treatment, maximum urinary flow rate (Qmax) level of 2 groups increased, prostate volume, residual urine volume, international prostate symptom score(IPSS)decreased (P<0.05), compared with the control group, maximum urinary flow rate of the experimental group was higher (P<0.05), prostate volume, residual urine volume, IPSS were lower (P<0.05), 2 groups of TNF-αand PSA levels decreased after treatment (P<0.05), compared with the control group, TNF-αand PSA levels were lower(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in adverse reactions in 2 groups. Conclusion Terazosin hydrochloride combined with finasteride had a clinical efficacy of elderly patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia, can reduce serum TNF-αand PSA levels.

Chinese Journal of Laboratory Medicine 2003;0(09):-
Since haemoplasmodium is not detected for screening in blood donor, morbidity of transfusion-associated malaria increased rapidly in China recently and became an important problem of public health. It is necessary to emphasize donor screening for malaria.Hematology analyzer with MAPSS is recommended to screen malaria.Flow cytometry and immunochromatography test(ICT)can also screen malaria effectively. For the suspicious samples with haemoplasmodium,it is necessary to be reexamined by standard microscopic examination or polymerase chain reaction(PCR).
8.Improvement of a post-embedding immunogold labeling method for osmicated tissue
Basic & Clinical Medicine 2006;0(06):-
Objective To establish a new post-embedding immunoelectron microscopy method for localization of protein antigens in central nervous system using colloidal golds as probes. Methods Rat brain tissue sections were fixed with osmium-ferrocyanide mixture.Free floating frozen sections were collected to determine the retrievability of antigens by sodium metaperiodate(NaIO_(4)).Then the best concentration of NaIO_(4) for maximal antigen retrieval was determined on hydrophilic Technovit 7100 resin-embedded semithin sections. Finally, the corresponding antigen was labeled with colloidal golds on ultrathin sections. Results NaIO_(4) showed different retrieving effects on different antigens;to those antigens that could be effectively retrieved by NaIO_(4),low concentration of NaIO_(4)could realize antigen retrieval;EM microscopy showed that ultrathin sections treated by low concentration of NaIO_(4) allowed higher density of colloidal gold labeling without apparently compromising the ultrastructures of tissues.
9.Expression of the epithelial cell adhesion molecule in prostate cancer and its clinical significance.
National Journal of Andrology 2015;21(4):320-324
OBJECTIVETo explore the expression of the epithelial cell adhesion molecule (EpCAM) in prostate cancer (PCa) and its clinical significance.
METHODSWe collected tissue samples from 63 cases of PCa, 46 cases of prostatic intraepithelial neoplasia (PIN), and 58 cases of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) adjacent to PCa and determined the expression of EpCAM in the epithelial and stromal cells by immunohistochemistry.
RESULTSThe positive expression rates of EpCAM in the epithelial cells were significantly higher in PCa and PIN than in PCa-adjacent BPH (98. 4 and 97. 8 vs 51.7%, P <0. 01), and so was that in the stromal cells of PCa than in those of PCa-adjacent PIN (89.5 vs 50.0%, P <0.01). The expression of EpCAM.was remarkably higher in the stromal cells of bone metastasis than in those of non-bone metastasis tissue (100. 0 vs 40. 0%, P <0. 01) but showed no statistically significant differences between the highly and poorly differentiated PCa tissues (88.5 vs 91.9%, P >0.05).
CONCLUSIONThe expression level of EpCAM in the stromal cells of PCa is related to the occurrence, progression, and bone metastasis of the tumor, and therefore may be used as a marker in the early diagnosis of PCa as well as a predictor of bone metastasis of the tumor.
