Objective To investigate the relationship among serum leptin level in patients with type 2 diabetes and sex , serum glucose, serum insulin, body mass index (BMI), waist-hip ratio (WHR) and total cholesterol and triglyceride.Methods 56 cases of type 2 diabetes and 22 normal controls were attended in this study. The clinical data of 186 patients with acute gout attack during upper gastrointestinal bleeding were analyzed retrospectively.The ratio of male to female was 1.7∶1, smokers and alcohol drinkers accounted for 66.1% ( 123/186 ) and 62.4% ( 116/186 ) of patients were had underlying diseases.All patients had different degree of joint painful and fever , the blood uric acid levels were higher.Gastroscopic examinations were performed in 166 patients , of whom 88 cases received endoscopic intervention.The symptoms of gout were improved after treatment with dexamethasone and celecoxib ; and the medication did not induce or increase gastrointestinal bleeding.

Objective To explore the expression and significance of Dickkopf-1 (Dkk-1) and cell lymphoma/leukemia-2 (Bcl-2) protein in sinonasal squamoucell carcinoma(SNSCC) .MethodThe immunohistochemical SP method and Western blomethod were adopted to determine the expression of Dkk-1 and Bcl-2 in 30 specimenof SNSC(SNSCgroup) ,38 specimenof sinonasal inverted papillomas(SNIP group) and 20 specimenof middle turbinate mucosa(control group) .ResultThe expression of DKK-1 protein in the SNSCgroup wasignificantly down-regulated compared with the SNIP group and the control group ,while the expression of Bcl-2 protein in the SNSCgroup wasignificantly up-regulated compared with the SNIP group and the control group;in the SNSCgroup ,the positive rateof DKK-1 protein and Bcl-2 protein in the high and middle differentiation group and the low differentiation group were 100 .00% ,68 .75% ,33 .33% and 50 .00% ,62 .50% ,100 .00% respectively ,the differencewere statistically significan(P＜0 .05) .Conclusion Dkk-1 protein may play an importanpromoting role in the developmenand pro-gression procesof SNSC,the expression of Dkk-1 protein hanegative correlation with the expression of Bcl-2 protein in SNSC,which may become new targespoof SNSCgene therapy .

Objective To explore the value of lymphatic mapping (LM) and sentinel lymph node(SLN) analysis in laparoscopic colectomy for colon carcinoma. Methods Thirty-two patients with clinically localized colonic neoplasms were subjected to submucosal injection of isosulfan blue dye (0.5-1.0 mL) via a colonoscope during operation. Blue-stained lymphatics were visualized through the laparoscope and followed to the SLN,which was tagged. The colectomy was completed in standard fashion. All lymph nodes were stained by hematoxylin and eosin,and multiple sections of each SLN were examined by immunohistochemical (IHC) staining using cytokeratin antibody. Results At least one SLN was identified laparoscopically in all patients. The SLN accurately predicted the tumor status of the nodal basin in 94% of cases. In 8 cases (25%),an unexpected lymphatic drainage pattern altered the extent of mesenteric resection. The SLN was negative by HE staining in 4 (13%) cases,which were demonstrated positive for micrometastases through immunohistochemical staining. Conclusions SLN mapping during laparoscopic colon resection can alter the margins of resection and in combination with immunohistochemical staining may improve staging,which may more accurately assign patients to prospective protocols.

Objective To evaluate advantages of the Herbert screw in treating displaced radial head fractures. Methods The Herbert screw was used to treat 25 segmental fractures of the radial head from since 1991 and the results were compared with those of other treatment methods mentioned in the literature. Results A follow up averaging 6 years and 8 months showed that postoperative function was all excellent or good and that most cases recovered to normal absolutely, without complications. Conclusions The Herbert screw provides such rigid internal fixation for displaced radial head fractures that, after operation, a plaster cast is rarely required and most patients are able to return to work within a few weeks. This method of treatment appears to offer significant advantages over conventional techniques.

AIM: To demonstrate the susceptibility of cell apoptosis varies during the progress of cell malig- nant transformation from human being in vitro. METHODS: A SV40T - transfected human bronchial epithelial im- mortalized cell line (called M) was selected in this work, which has acquired some characteristics of malignant trans- formation at the later passage. The alterations of apoptosis and bcl- 2, P53 genes between early and later passage of M cells were investigated by means of TDT labeling in situ, chromosome FISH, RNA and protein testing, etc. RE- SULTS: Incidence of apoptosis induced by cis - platin was significantly lower in later than in early passages of M. Levels of bcl - 2 mRNA and protein in later passages were higher than early passages of M, and overxpression of bcl -2 was accumulated following the development of cellular malignancy. P53 protein level was as high in early as in later passages. CONCLUSION: Overexpression of bcl - 2 decreases the cellular sensitivity to apoptotic inductors plays an important role during progress of carcinogenesis in human bronchial epithelial cancers. The inactivation of P53 protein in the SV40 - T transfected M cell line may be one of reasons of bcl - 2 overexpression, but not associated with the accumulation of bcl - 2 expressed level during cell transformation.

Objective:To evaluate the feasibility of two materials used as scaffolds in periodontal tissue engineering. Methods: Dog periodontal ligament cells cultured in vitro were collected and seeded on three-dimensional framework of cancellous bone matrix (CBM) or nano-HAp/collagen (nHAC) . The cell growth in the scaffolds was observed by cell counting and scanning electronic microscope. Results: Porous structure of the two materials and adhesion and eugonic growth of cells in the scaffolds were observed by scanning electronic microscope.The cell number was doubled in both scaffolds in 72 h culture. Conclusion: It may be feasible to use CBM or nHAC as the scaffolds for periodontal tissue engineering.

Based on the half sphere-cylinder myocardial model, a quantitative calculating method of gated SPECT myocardial infraction of the left ventricular functional parameters is proposed. To overcome the shortage of the ellipse model and other normal methods, this method uses the half sphere-cylinder myocardial model and its subarea. The experiment result shows that the data from normal men accord very well with those reported in domestic and international literature. The result from use in the case of left ventricular myocardial infarction is also satisfactory. Therefore, this method is of high value clinically.

Objective To study the expression of Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF),Malondialdehyde (MDA),Hypoxia Inducible Factor-1 α (HIF-1 α) in the Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drug (NSAID)-associated gastric mucosa injury tissue,and to understand the mechanism of NSAID induced gastric mucosa injury.Methods We collected 114 biopsy specimen of gastric mucosa under endoscope from patients admitted to our hospital,including 70 cases with NSAID-associated chronic erosive gastritis or gastric ulcer (NSAID group) and 44 cases with chronic superficial gastritis who never take NSAID as controls (the control group).Immunohistochemistry technique was used to detect the positive expressions of VEGF,MDA,HIF-1α in patients.Results The positive rate of VEGF expression in the NSADI group was significantly lower than that in the normal control group (25.7％ (18/70) vs.54.5％ (24/44),x2 =9.70,P ＜ 0.05).The positive rates of MDA and HIF-1α in the NSADI group were significantly higher than these in the normal control group (MDA:62.9％ (44/70) vs.27.3％ (12/44),x2 =13.70,P ＜0.05; HIF-1α:45.7％ (32/70) vs.13.6％ (6/44),x2 =12.50,P ＜ 0.05).Conclusion NSAID drugs may induce gastric mucosa injury by decreasing the expression of VEGF and increase the levels of MDA and HIF1-α in gastric mucosa tissue.
