1.The Measurement of Fetal Cardiothoracic Diameters, Ratio and the Clinical Value
Chinese Journal of Perinatal Medicine 1998;0(02):-
Objective To measure the fetal heart area and chest area in the same plane. To find out range of cardiothoracic ratio and the clinical value. Methods Among 750 normal pregnant women with gestational ages from 16 to 40 weeks underwent ultrasonographic measurement of the fetal heart and chest diameters and areas. The average value of the cardiothorcic ratio of the each gestational age's group was obtained by calculating. Results Both the heart area and the thorax area were highiy linearilized with the gestational age. The cardiothoracic ratio of each gestational age's group was around 0.20 and was not preponderated over 0.30. Conclusions Ultrasonic measurement of the fetal heart area and thorax area is one of the reliable biophysical parameter for estimating fetal age and growth in uterus. As the cardiothoracic ratio is over 0.30, congenital heart disease or fetal edema should be considered.

Objective To investigate the fetal haemolytic status when IgG antibody's efficiency of pregnant women was ≥1∶512 in blood group incompatibility. Methods We retrospectively analyzed the data of 6 pregnant women whose IgG antibody's efficiency were more than 1∶512 in blood group incompatibility. The levels of bilirubin, IgG antibody's efficiency and blood type in amniotic fluid from amniocentesis were examined. Umbilical blood bilirubin, blood type analysis and Coombs test of newborns were performed. Results Serum IgG antibody's efficiency of pregnant women did not correlate with the severity of haemolytic disease of newborn. Conclusions Fetal haemolytic disease can not be diagnosed only by serum IgG antibody's efficiency of pregnant women.

Objective To determine the influence of gender on the association between serum uric acid and branchial-ankle pulse wave velocity (baPWV).Methods Cross-sectional data from 1418 adults who underwent routine laboratory tests and baPWV measurements were analyzed in a gender-specific manner.BaPWV≥ 1400 cm/s was defined as abnormality. The individuals were assigned to four groups (Q1,Q2,Q3 and Q4) according to the gender-specific quartiles of serum uric acid. The relationship between serum uric acid and the baPWV values was assessed by Spearman's correlation coefficients. In female, the relationship of serum uric acid quartiles with baPWV was evaluated by logistic regression analysis. Results In male and female, diastolic blood pressure, fasting blood glucose, triglyceride and body mass index were increased with serum uric acid level,in contrast to high-density lipoprotein cholesterol. The Spearman's correlation coefficient for the relationship between serum uric acid and baPWV was 0.18 in female and-0.05 in male (P =0.16).In female, univariate logistic regression analysis showed that in comparison with group Q1,odds ratio (OR) value of baPWV abnormality of group Q4 was 2.45 (95%confidence interval (CI) 1.48 to 4.06).In multivariate logistic regression, after adjusting for creatine and estimated glomerular filtration rate,OR value of baPWV abnormality of group Q4 was 2.45 (95% CI 1.48 to 4.06) when compared with group Q1.However,after adjustment for age and other risk factors of cardiovascular diseases, there were no significant differents in ORs among serum uric acid quartile groups. Conclusions The association between serum uric acid level and baPWV in female may depend on age and metabolic syndrome components.

Objective: To establish an electrochemical method for the determination of phenol. Methods: An electrochemical workstation with three electrodes system was used with glassy carbon electrode as working electrode, Ag/AgCl as reference electrode and Pt as counter electrode. Cyclic voltammetry and differential pulse voltammetry were used for the determination of phenol. Results:Under the condition of 4% Na2SO4as the supporting electrolyte, phenol showed an obvious oxidation peak on the glassy carbon elec-trode. The peak current increased linearly with the concentration of phenol within the range of 0. 8 μg·ml-1-10. 2 μg·ml-1( r=0. 997 5). The lower limit of detection was 0. 20 μg·ml-1. The average recovery was 101. 2% (RSD=2. 2% , n=6). Conclusion:The method is simple and accurate, and can be used for the determination of phenol.

OBJECTIVETo evaluate Amifostin's effect on protecting kidney from cisplatinum (DDP) injury and its adverse reactions and safety.
METHODS193 Patients were divided into two groups randomly: 102 in group A (treatment group) and 91 in group B (control group). Indexes such as blood routine, blood calcium, liver function, blood urea nitrogen (BUN), cretinine (C), and urinary N-acetyl-beta-D-glucosaminidase (NAG)/C and micro-albumin (MAB/C) were monitored at different intervals before or after treatment.
RESULTSIn the two courses of treatment in both groups, the deviation (D) values of MAB/C before treatment and on D2 in group A were lower than those in grop B (P < 0.05), so were those before treatment and on D4, D6, D10 and D14 (P < 0.01). The D-values of NAG/C before treatment and on D4, D6, D10 and D14 in the first course of group A were obviously lower than those on the corresponding days in group B (P < 0.01), so were those before treatment and on D2, D4, D6, D10 and D14 in the second course (P < 0.01).
CONCLUSIONThe reduction of MAB/C and NAG/C by Amifostin in group A demonstrates that: Amifostin is able to effectively protect the renal function, regardless of the type of tumor. In contrast with group B, Amifostin in group A shows no protection for tumor in lung cancer and ovarian cancer. The main side effects of Amifostin are mild hypotension, nausea, vomiting and hypocalcemia in some patients.
