Objective To study the application of ultracision harmonic scalpel in laparoscopic radical gastrectomy. Methods Ten patients with gastric cancer were given laparoscopic-assisted radical gastrectomy by using ultracision harmonic scalpel. Results All operations were successfully performed with ultracision harmonic scalpel, and none of which converted into open surgery. The operation time was 300-492 min,mean(385?64) min.The blood loss was 100-500 ml,mean(401?70) ml.The number of harvested lymph nodes was 21-43,mean 31?6.The time for gastrointestinal function recovery was 3-6 d,mean(4.2?1.0) d.The time of patients' taking out-of-bed activity was 3-7 d,mean(4.5?1.3) d.The time of taking liquid food was 4-6 d,mean(5.0?0.9) d.No case had relapse or metastasis after 4-20 months(mean 12.6 months) of follow-up.Conclusions Laparoscopic radical gastrectomy by using ultracision harmonic scalpel is safe and feasible.Ultracision harmonic scalpel has the advantage of minimal invasion, less bleeding and shorter operation time, which is a very important equipment and useful for laparoscopic gastrointestinal surgery.

Objective To investigate the correlation between postoperative intraabdominal adhesions and tumor growth and metastasis and to evaluate the effect of PDLLA. Methods Sixty male Wistar rats were divided into tumor transplantation group ( A group) and non-tumor-transplantation group (B group). Both groups were further subdivided into intraabdominal adhesion model subgroup, PDLLA intervention subgroup and false operation subgroup respectively. Postoperative intraabdominal adhesions and tumor growth and metastasis were semiquantitively scored 4 weeks after the operation. Results The scores of intraabdominal adhesion and the tumor growth and metastasis in all subgroups of tumor transplantation group were higher than that of non-tumor-transplantation group ( P

BACKGROUND: Atlantoaxial posterior approach is currently the main surgical treatment for atlantoaxial instability and/or dislocation, but the shape of rod in normal screw-rod device system is cylindrical. To obtain satisfactory reduction of atlantoaxis, the rod will be pre-bent obviously before fixation; however, the cylindrical rod will be rotated when tighten the nuts. Extra devices will be required to adjust and maintain the direction of the rod, thereafter, the surgical field will be blocked by the device, and spinal injury will occur once the devices are not held tightly. While the novel automatic anti-rotation rod has the function of anti-rotation during nut-tightening process, and also holds all the advantages of normal rod. Further research should be performed for the differences in biomechanical characteristics between two methods.OBJECTIVE: To investigate the biomechanical properties of the novel automatic anti-rotation rod for internal fixation system of atlantoaxial posterior approach based on three-dimensional finite-analysis model of upper cervical spine.METHODS: The three-dimensional finite element model of upper cervical spine with internal rod fixation system was developed. The biomechanical characteristics of the internal fixation system were analyzed. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: The traditional and novel three-dimensional finite element model with realistic and geometric similarity contained 198330 elements, 964747 nodes and 246788 elements, 996069 nodes, correspondingly. There was no obvious stress concentration in both two systems, stress was concentrated mainly in the screw-bone and screw-rod interfaces. The stress values of the novel system were higher than those of the traditional system, but the maximum Von Misses Stress of two systems was lower than the yield (795-827 MPa ) and ultimate (860-896 MPa) strength of titanium alloys. These results show that the design of the novel automatic anti-rotation rod-screw fixation system has matched the biomechanical requirements for new internal fixation instruments, and is one safe, effective and practical device for atlantoaxial posterior procedure showing promising application prospect.

AIM: To study the effect of cholecystokinin octapeptide(CCK-8) on lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-stimulated pulmonary interstitial macrophage(IM) in vitro. METHODS: Pulmonary IM were isolated and cultured in the presence of LPS, CCK-8, proglumide(the antagonist of CCK receptors) and vehicle alone or together. The expression of mCD14 protein was assayed by flow cytometry, and sCD14 in the supernatant was analyzed semi-quantitatively by Western blot, and TNF-? in the supernatant was detected with ELISA. RESULTS: CCK-8, at concentrations from 10 -7 mol/L to 10 -6 mol/L inhibited significantly the expression of mCD14, the release of sCD14 and TNF-? to the supernatant up-regulated by LPS(1 mg/L). The effect of CCK-8 was inhibited by proglumide. CONCLUSION: CCK-8 modulated negatively several functions of LPS-stimulated pulmonary IM through CCK receptors, which may be one of the mechanisms for CCK-8 to alleviate the inflammation in lung tissues during endotoxemia.

Aim To investigate the effects of cholecystokinin-octopeptide on IL-12 secreted in murine bone marrow-derived dendritic cells induced by lipopolysaccharide. Methods The CCK receptor subtypes were investigated by immunofluorescence in murine bone marrow-derived dendritic cells.Enzyme linked immunosorbent assay and Western blot were used to estimate the contents of IL-12 and p38MAPK activity. Results CCK-1R and CCK-2R were detected in BM-DC;CCK-8(at concentrations of 10-10,10-8,10-6 mol?L-1)could significantly increase the secretion of IL-12 in the LPS-induced DC, and LPS-activated p38MAPK activity in a dose-dependent manner. The effect of CCK-8 was reduced partially by CR1409(a CCK-1R antagonist) and CR2945(a CCK-2R antagonist). Conclusion CCK-8 could dose-dependently increase the expressions of IL-12 in LPS-induced DC,probably by promoting p38MAPK activity and the effect was mediated by CCK1 and CCK2 receptors.

Aim To investigate the effects of chronic morphine treatment and withdrawal on the level of SNAPs in different brain regions of rats, including nucleus accumbens(NAc),caudate putamen(CPu) and hippocampus(Hip). Methods Adult male Wistar rats were randomly assigned into control, morphine and spontaneous withdrawal group. The morphine dependent rat model was established by subcutaneous morphine injection with increasing doses for 8 d,three times a day(8:00,12:00,and 18:00).The control group was injected with the same volume of normal saline.Rats in morphine group were killed 4 h after the last injection, and rats in withdrawl group were killed at indicated time.Control groups were paralleled with all treatment groups. The brains were removed and the NAc,CPu and Hip were separated. The expression of SNAPs mRNA and protein were determined by RT-PCR and Western blot. Results The expression of ?SNAP in CPu of morphine dependent rats was up-regulated by about 25%(P

Aim To investigate the effects and mechanisms of CCK-8 on IL-1? induced proliferation of RSC-364, a rat fibroblast-like synovial cell line. Methods MTT colorimetric assay and Western blot were used to measure cell proliferation and p38MAPK phosphorylation level to elucidate the mechanism of CCK-8 in IL-1? induced RSC-364 proliferation. Results CCK-8 significantly inhibited IL-1?-induced RSC-364 proliferation at 10 -12 , 10 -10 , 10 -8 , 10 -6 mol ? L -1 , and IL-1?-activated p38MAPK activity at 10 -10 , 10 -8 , 10 -6 mol?L -1 in a dose-dependent manner. The effect of CCK-8 was blocked by CR1409 (a CCKA-receptor antagonist) and CR2945 (a CCKB-receptor antagonist). Conclusion CCK-8 inhibits IL-1?-induced RSC-364 proliferation, probably by reducing p38MAPK activity through CCKA and CCKB receptors.
