Chinese Journal of Disease Control & Prevention 2001;5(1):50-52
Objective In order to understand situation and need s for health education of AIDS prevention in high school students in Anhui. Methods 1 617 students from 12 schools in 4 prefectures were sur veyed with questionnaires. Results More than 50% students got the i nformation from newspaper, broadcasting, TV. Only 7.5% and 4.7% st udents acquired the info rmation from the subject lectures at school level and class level respectively. 14.4% students attended health education activities f or AIDS prevention. 10.9% students received relevant pro paganda materials, 77.8% students had never seen condom, 44.1% students knew the function of condom, and 8.6% students approved of premarital sexual life, of wh ich , ratio of male students were significantly higher than that of female students. More than 70% students were willing to care and help patients with HIV infectio n. Conc lusions It is necessary and possible to develop health education for AI DS prevention in high school students. It is an important measure to develop hea lth education to block HIV transmission.

Journal of Clinical Neurology 1988;0(02):-
Objective To investigate clinical manifestation and pathological changes and the expressions of Emerin protein and STA gene of Emery-Dreifuss muscular dystrophy (EDMD).Methods The clinical features and STA gene detection from one patient with EDMD were analyzed retrospectively. Results The onset age of this patient was in early childhood. The four limbs were progressive muscle weakness and muscular atrophy. There were joint contractures and cardiac involvement in the early stage. The serum muscle enzymes increased slightly. The pathological changes in muscles showed that the sizes of muscle fibers were different, the fibers became spherical and some fibers were replaced by fat. Because of normal spinal anterior horn cells and sural nerves, neurogenic muscular atrophy might be ruled out. Emerin protein could not be tested in striated muscle and cardiac muscle. No mutation of STA gene was found in this case. Conclusions Emery-Dreifuss muscular dystrophy is one particular type of muscular dystrophy. It is characterized with joint contractures and cardiac involvement in the early stage. Emerin protein is deficient in EDMD. There is no mutation of STA gene in sporadic EDMD.

Abstract Objective: To prepare high-purification and high-specific activity of recombinant human interleukin-6 (rhIL-6). Methods: The rhIL-6 was obstained from inclusion body expressed by IPTG-induced pT7.7hIL-6 expressed vector using extracting, denature and refolding techniques. The rhTL-6 was further purified by anionic-exchange chromatography. Activity of rhIL-6 was measured by 3H-TdR method. Results: After a single-step purification, the product purity reach 95% and it's specific activity was 3.0 x 10~8 U/mg. Conclusion:This scheme of puri-fication was an easy way requiring rhTL-6.

Journal of Clinical Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery 2001;(4):171-172
Objective:To observe the effect of Livostin spray on children's allergic rhinitis and to search the mechanism of treating allergic rhinitis. Method: 113 patients were treated with Livostin spray (Livostin group) or normal saline spray (control group). Result:The total efficiency of Livostin group in treating allergic rhinitis is above 95.1% and that of the control group is 25.0%. Initial time of starting effect of Livostin (72.1%) is in 1 minute, and that of the control group (mostly 23.1%) is in 3 minutes. The keeping curativeeffect time of Livostin spray is mostly (72.1%) above 5 hours and that of the control group is mostly (30.8%) in 3 hours. After 2 weeks, the eosinophilic granulocyte number in nose's secretion of Livostin group is obviously reduced (P<0.05). Conclusion: Livostin is better than control group in relieving symptoms, keeping curative effect and safety,so Livostin is one kind of effective drug in treating children's allergic rhinitis.

Chinese Journal of General Surgery 2001;0(08):-
ObjectiveThis study was to evaluate the effects of different pneumoperitoneum used in laparoscopy on in vitro tumor cells growth. Methods 3H-TdR incorporation was used to compare the DNA synthesis (CPM value) of tumor cells after exposure to simulated laparoscopic environments, composed of carbon dioxide, helium and room air, respectively. Results At 24 hours after pneumoperitoneum, compared with group of helium, air and control, CPM increased in group of carbon dioxide (F=47.576 5,P0.05). At 48,72 and 96 hours, pneumoperitoneum, compared with helium group, air group and control group, CPM increased significantly in carbon dioxide group (F=116.183,1082.92 and 5116.75, P0.05). Conclusion Carbon dioxide promotes tumor cells growth, while helium restrains the growth of tumor cells. [

Objective To construct prokaryotic expression plasmid of human recombinant soluble TNF-related apoptosis inducing ligand(rsTRAIL),then to investigate the effects of rsTRAIL on apoptosis in non-small cell lung carcinoma(NSCLC).Methods The encoding sequence for rsTRAIL was amplified with RT-PCR and cloned into PQE30 vector to establish the prokaryotic expression system. The competent cells of host strain of M15 were transformed by the recombinant plasmid. The expression of the target protein was induced with IPTG and purified by Ni2+-NTA agarose column.rsTRAIL was added in the media of A549 and H460wt cells, then the viability was examined by MTT assay.Apoptosis of H460wt cells was observed under fluorescence microscopy. The apoptotic rate of tumor cells was examined by FACS.Results The cloned fragment of rsTRAIL was 100% consistent with that reported in GenBank. The expressed protein with molecular weight of 21 000 in SDS-PAGE as expected was obtained and recognized by a commercial McAb.The apoptotic rate of H460wt cells after treated with rsTRAIL for 24 h was 43.2%.Cislatin enhanced the effect of rsTRAIL on A549 cells. Conclusion The rsTRAIL is obtained after Ni affinity chromatograph.rsTRAIL has a strong cytotoxic activity against NSCLC and cisplatin may enhance the antitumor effect of rsTRAIL.
