The paper summarized the literature in recent 5 years about the researches on the metabolic syndrome (MS) in traditional Chinese medicine. The paper discussed the etiology and pathogenesis, summarized the clinical research and experiment of traditional Chinese medicine for MS.

A 42-year-old woman was admitted to the hospital for an 11-month history of pustular lesions of the mouth and lips as well as a 5-month history of pustules,ulcer,proliferative plaques on the head,neck and trunk.She had suffered from 8 years of ulcerative colitis.Dermatological examination revealed mild erosion of eyelids,swelling of buccal mucosa and oral lips,as well as typical snail track lesions formed by pustules,exudates and mucilage.There was a large pitchy proliferative plaque sized 20 cm × 10 cm with an elevated margin in the neck as well as palm-to persian walnut-sized proliferative plaques in the prothorax,armpit,periumbilical area and left inguinal area.Histopathology revealed epitheliomatous hyperplasia of the epidermis with the formation of eosinophilic microabscesses,and superficial dermal infiltrate with numerous neutrophils and eosinophils.Direct immunofluorescence tests for IgA,IgG,and C3 were negative.A diagnosis of pyodermatitis-pyostomatitis vegetans was made.The patient was given intravenous methylprednisolone 40 mg/day and symptomatic treatment,which leaded to a gradual subsidence of skin lesions.

Objective: To investigate the prospective effects of the consumption of protein and animal foods before menarche on the age at menarche among Chinese girls. Methods: This paper was based on the data collected in the China Health and Nutrition Survey(CHNS) from 1997 to 2015. A total of 683 girls aged 6 and over who had completed information on age at menarche, height, weight, per capita annual household income, maternal education level and participated in at least one complete dietary survey within 1 to 4 years before menarche were included. Urban-rural stratified multivariable linear regression model was used to examine the effects of protein and animal foods intake before menarche on Chinese girls age at menarche in urban and rural areas. Results: After adjusted for total energy intake, body mass index standard deviation score and per capita annual household income, the consumption of meat before menarche was negatively associated with the age at menarche among rural Chinese girls(B=-0.003, P=0.00), but not among urban Chinese girls(B=0.002, P>0.05). Total protein, dairy, eggs and aquatic products intake before menarche were not associated with Chinese girls age at menarche in urban and rural areas(B=0.002, -0.001, 0.003, 0.000; 0.001, 0.001, -0.001, -0.003, P>0.05). Conclusion Higher intake of meat before menarche might lead to earlier menarche onset in rural Chinese girls. The consumption of total protein, dairy, eggs, and aquatic products before menarche did not affect the age at menarche in Chinese girls.

BACKGROUND: The curative potential of various bronchoscopic treatments such as electric snare, carbon dioxide freezing, argon plasma coagulation (APC), Neudymium-dopted Yttrium Aluminium Garnet (Nd:YAG) laser and photodynamic therapy (PDT) for the treatment of intraluminal tumor has been administered previously, but this regimen is not common in the treatment of typical carcinoid. The aim of this study is to investigate the curative effects both in short-term and long-term of interventional bronchoscopy in the treatment of typical carcinoid. METHODS: We retrospectively reviewed the clinical data of typical carcinoid patients who were treated with interventional bronchoscopy for tumor suppression and they were hospitalized in the Emergency General Hospital from December 2010 to December 2020, and Wilcoxon rank sum test and chi-square test were used for analysis. RESULTS: A total of 32 patients were included, including 18 cases of preoperative bronchial artery embolization (embolization rate 56%, 95%CI: 31%-79%). The grade score of dyspnea decreased from before treatment to after treatment, and the difference was statistically significant [(1.44±1.03) score vs (0.25±0.58) score, P=0.003]; The degree of bronchial stenosis decreased from pre-treatment to post-treatment, and the difference was statistically significant [(87.50%±13.90%) vs (17.50%±6.83%), P<0.001]; There was significant difference in bronchial diameter before and after treatment [(0.14±0.18) cm vs (0.84±0.29) cm, P<0.001]. CONCLUSIONS Bronchoscopic interventional therapy has significant short-term and long-term effects in the treatment of typical carcinoid.

Objective:To explore the chain mediating effect of future orientation and academic engagement between perceived teacher support and academic procrastination in high school students.Methods:From December 2021 to February 2022, a survey was conducted on 550 high school students by the perceived teacher support questionnaire, the adolescent future orientation scale, the academic engagement scale, and the general procrastination scale-for student populations (GPS). Data were entered by EpiData 3.1 software, and SPSS 26.0 software was used to process and analyze the data by one-way ANOVA, Pearson correlation analysis and Bootstrap method test.Results:The scores of perceived teacher support, future orientation, academic engagement and academic procrastination were (3.77±0.80), (3.22±0.48), (68.11±18.08) and (52.32±11.78) respectively.The results of correlation analysis showed that academic procrastination was negatively correlated with perceived teacher support, future orientation and academic engagement ( r=-0.32, -0.38, -0.49, all P<0.01), while perceived teacher support was positively correlated with future orientation and academic engagement ( r=0.40, 0.43, both P<0.01). Future orientation was positively correlated with academic engagement ( r=0.56, P<0.01). The mediating effect analysis showed that perceived teacher support had a significant direct effect on academic procrastination (effect value: -0.10, 95% CI =-0.19--0.02), accounting for 32.26% of the total effect.The mediating effect between perceived teacher support and academic procrastination was found between future orientation and academic engagement (effect value: -0.05, 95% CI =-0.09- -0.02; effect values: -0.09, 95% CI=-0.15--0.05), accounting for 16.13% and 29.03% of the total effect respectively.Future orientation and academic engagement had a chain mediating effect between perceived teacher support and academic procrastination (effect value: -0.07, 95% CI=-0.10--0.04), accounting for 22.58% of the total effect. Conclusion:Perceived teacher support can influence academic procrastination, not only through the direct path, but also through the indirect path of future orientation and academic engagement, as well as chain mediating path between these two variables.

Objective: To examine the association of pre-pregnancy body mass and weight gain during pregnancy with macrosomia. Methods: From January 2015 to December 2015, a total of 20 477 pregnant women were recruited by probabilistic proportional scale sampling with simple randomization in Sichuan, Yunnan and Guizhou Provinces. Basic information of pregnant women, weight gain during pregnancy and weight of newborn were collected. A multiple logistic regression model was used to assess the association between the pre-pregnancy body mass and gestational weight gain indicators with macrosomia. Results: 20 321 mother-infant were included in the final analysis. 20 321 pregnant women were (30.09±4.10) years old and delivered at (39.20±1.29) weeks, among which 12 341 (60.73%) cases were cesarean delivery. The birth weight of 20 321 infants were (3 292.26±431.67) grams, and 970 (4.77%) were macrosomia. The multiple logistic regression model showed that after adjusting for the age of women, compared to the normal weight group in the pre-pregnancy, the overweight and obesity group elevated the risk of macrosomia, with OR (95%CI) about 1.99 (95%CI: 1.69−2.35) and 4.05 (95%CI: 3.05−5.39), respectively. After adjusting for the age, the pre-pregnancy BMI, delivery weeks, delivery mode and infant′s gender, compared to the weight-gain appropriate group, higher weight gain rate in the mid-pregnancy and excessive total gestational weight gain elevated the risk of macrosomia, with OR (95%CI) about 1.99 (95%CI: 1.66−2.39) and 1.80 (95%CI: 1.55−2.08), respectively. Conclusion The overweight before pregnancy, obesity before pregnancy, the rate of weight gain in the second trimester and the high total weight gain during pregnancy could increase the risk of macrosomia.
