Journal of Jilin University(Medicine Edition) 2006;0(04):-
Objective To investigate the effects of methylmercury on outward potassium currents in isolated outer hair cells of guinea pig cochlea. Methods The whole-cell patch clamp technique was used.Calcium sensitive outword potassium currents were recorded when the concentrations of mercurial were 1/1000 LD_(50),1/100 LD_(50) and 1/10 LD_(50).Results After methylmercury poisoning, amplitudes of the outword potassium currents I_(K(Ca)) were(1.48?0.28),(1.36?0.16) and(1.22?0.13)nA.Compared with control group, the amplitudes in three methylmercury poisoning groups were decreased by 8%,16% and 25%(P

Objective To develop a remover of formaldehyde in indoor air. Methods Activated carbon was used as the raw materials, potassium hydroxide as the activator. The activated carbon was modified through activation and impregnation. The influence factors for the formaldehyde adsorption property of activated carbons were evaluated, such as the size, activation temperature, activation time and impregnation time. Results The optimum technics conditions for developing the formaldehyde remover and the optimum conditions to absorb formaldehyde were confirmed. The mass adsorption capacity of the adsorbent was 49.6%, the BET surface area was about 1 591 m2/g and the total pore volume was 1.01 cm3/g. Conclusion The mass adsorption capacity of formaldehyde and the BET surface area of the modified activated carbon in the present paper are better than those of unmodified activated carbon.

Objective To compare the effect of GammaTM wet wipes and 75% alcohol on the disinfection of X-ray protective clothing, and provide reference for choosing rational disinfection methods. Methods 62 pieces of X-ray protective clothing were selected,30 were from operating rooms,32 from catheterization room.Protective clothing were randomly divided into trial group and control group, each had 31 pieces.Trial group disinfected clothing with GammaTM wet wipes, control group disinfected clothing with 75% alcohol, disinfection effect, drying time, and cost between both groups were compared. Results Average bacterial colony counts in trial group and control group before disinfection were 2.38 CFU/cm2 and 2.36 CFU/cm2 respectively, qualified rates were 80.64% and 83.87%respectively.Bacteria were not detected in both groups after disinfection. The average drying time in trial group was shorter than control group([352.35±9.93]s vs[676.13±10.62]s,t=123.98,P <0.01).The cost of disinfecting X-ray protective clothing in trial group was 29.60% less than control group. Conclusion Effect of GammaTM wet wipes and 75% alcohol on disinfecting X-ray protective clothing are both reliable, compared with 75% alcohol, GammaTM wet wipes are without corrosion, have shorter drying time, and save more cost.

Recently, traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) researches on diabetic peripheral neuropathy made great progress. It is found that theetiology and pathogenesis was the deficiency in origin and the ecessive in superficialty. The deficiencyincluded Yin deficiency, Qi deficiency, blood deficiency, deficiency of both Qi and Yin, Yang deficiency, while the ecessive in superficialty included blood stasis, stasis of phlegm and blood. Thus, the principles of treatment were supplementing Qi and nourishing Yin, warming Yang, promoting blood and removing blood stasis, and smooth Luo, all of which showed the characteristics of TCM treatment were combination of inside and outside, and multi-target effects. This paper reviewed the progress of clinical and experimental studies on the TCM for diabetic peripheral neuropathy.

AIM:To investigate the injurious effects of oxidized low-density(OLDL) on human endothelial cells(ECs) and protective effects of Angelica Sinensis in vitro. METHODS: The effect of OLDL on nitric oxide (NO) release from EC and intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1) expression on EC surface were studied, and the protective effects of Angelica Sinensis on normal and abnormal EC were investigated using cultured EC with or without OLDL and immunocytochemical staining technique. RESULTS: OLDL led to a decrease of NO release and an increase of ICAM-1 expression, which can be reversed by Angelica Sinensis and atropine can block this role of Angelica Sinensis. CONCLUSION: Angelica Sinensis has antagonistic effect on OLDL-induced decreasing of NO released from ECs and increasing of ICAM-1 expression on ECs surface . These effects of Angelica Sinensis may be exerted by the excitation of muscarinic receptor.

Diabetic peripheral neuropathy is one of the microvascular complications of diabetes. traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) attributed it to theXiaoke disease andBizheng, with the views ofLuo disease and its TCM patterns differentiation. Based on the treatment for deficiency,Tongluo drugs were added and they made good curative effect. Recently the TCM researches on it have been deepened in the etiology, pathogenesis, treatment, experimental and clinical research, which showed some new under standings. Thus, this paper summarized the relevant researches.

AIM: To compare the contents variation of anthraquinones by 2 kinds of extractive process of Naomaitong extract (Radix et Rhizoma rhei, Rhizoma chuanxiong, Radix et Rhizoma qinseng, Radix puerariae lobatae, etc). METHODS: In application to RP-HPLC, Hypersil ODS2 C_ 18 column, the mobile phase was a mixture of methanol- 0.1% phosphate water (75 ∶25), the wavelength of detecting five aglycons in R. officinale was at 254 nm. RESULTS: The extraction rate of anthraquinones contents extracted by alcoholic extraction was higher than water extraction, the chrysophanol content in separated decoction was higher than that in the mixed decoction. CONCLUSION: There are dynamic variations in the extraction of Chinese medicine mixture. It is necessary to handle samples appropriately according to physichemical attributes of chemical contents.

Objective To compare the variation of ferulic acid contents in Naomaitong by different extraction processes. Methods With ethanol or water as extracting solvent, the four herbal medicines of Rhizoma Chuanxiong,Radix Ginseng,Radix Puerariae,Radix et Rhizoma Rhei, which consisted of Naomaitong prescription, were decocted together or decocted separately firstly then mixed together were evaluated. With ferulic acid extraction rate as the index, the above extraction processes were evaluated. Results The extraction rate of ferulic acid extracted by alcohol was higher than that by water, but the ferulic acid content showed no obvious difference by decocting together or decocted separately firstly then mixed together. Conclusion It is suggested that proper extraction solvents and extraction methods should be adopted according to the different physicochemical characteristics of chemical contents in herbal medicine during extraction.
