Objective To explore the relationship between the activity of cholinesterase in hemolyzed blood sample and non-hemolyzed blood sample. Methods The activities of cholinesterase in hemolyzed blood samples and non-hernolyzed blood samples from 112 healthy individuals in Ji'nan were determined by the ferric trichloride chro-mometry, and the activities of cholinesterase in hemolyzed blood samples were adjusted by the concentration of ho-moglobulin (Hb) in blood samples. Results Highly significant correlation was found in the activities of cholinesterase between hemolyzed blood samples and non-hemolyzed blood samples (r = 0.728, F

Journal of Environment and Health 2007;0(12):-
Objective To know the situation of HCH and DDT residues in the health foods in Shandong Province, China. Methods HCH and DDT residues in 102 different kinds of health food samples were determined by capillary gas chromatography in 2006. Results The detection rate of HCH was 100%, the eligible rate was 97%, as for DDT, they were 62.7% and 96.1% respectively. Conclusion The situation of organochlorine pesticide residues in the health foods in Shandong Province is not satisfactory and to ensure the quality of the health foods, a powerful supervision should be taken, the raw materials of the health foods should be natural and no pollution.

Objective To investigate the effects of soybean peptide calcium on apparent calcium absorption rate and bone mineral density of rats. Methods Totally 50 male Wistar rats were divided into 5 groups at comparable body weight:the low calcium control group, calcium carbonate control group and 3 groups with low, medium and high dose of soybean peptide calcium(SPC).Rats of each group were fed with designed forage. At the end of the fourth week of the feeding.calcium metabolic experiment was performed for 3 days and the apparent calcium absorption rate was calculated.Three months later, the left and right femurs of the rats were stripped to assay the bone calcium and bone density. Results Apparent calcium absorption rate of the calcium carbonate control group was 69.9 %,which was lower than medium(82.6 %) and high doses(77.4%) of soybean peptide calcium groups(F =31.371,P=0.000,0.001).Compared with the low calcium control group, rats with medium and high doses of SPC had obviously increased levels of weights(F =3.150,P =0.010,0.002),bone mass(F =3.195,P =0.015,0.002),calcium content (F=4.506,P =0.004,0.001)and bone mineral density of midpoint (F=6.185,P =0.006,0.000) and far end of femur (F =6.081,P=0.027,0.000).Despite of the weight index (P>0.05),the high dose of soybean peptide calcium group also had the same results as the calcium carbonate control group (P=0.046,0.024,0.013,0.001).Conclusions Soybean peptide calcium can promote the apparent calcium absorption rate and increase the bone mineral density.

Objective To observe the effects of touching combined with inhalation of atomized traditional Chinese medicine in the treatment of recurrent respiratory tract infection. Methods 79 cases were selected according to the inclusion criteria from 105 repeated respiratory traction infection children who were treated in this hospital from September 2008 to August 2009.These cases were randomly recruited into a treatment group(40 cases)and a control group(39 cases). The control group was given conventional therapy at the period of onset, and intensive care at convalescence stage, avoiding cross infection. On this basis.the treatment group was treated with toughing plus inhalation of atomized traditional Chinese medicine at the period of onset. The frequency of respiratory tract infection, duration, appetite, and the condition of sleep were observed after one year's treatment. Results The total effective rate was 92.5%and 67%in the treatment group and the control group respectively, showing significant difference(χ~2=20.16,P<0.05).Conclusion Touching combined wim inhalation of atomized traditional Chinese medicine is effective in treating recurrent respiratory tract infections in children.

AIM: To investigate the effect of puerarin on expression of the glucogen synthase kinase-3 bate (GSK-3?) in adipocyte of rats with insulin resistance induced by diets. METHODS: 30 Wister rats were randomized into two groups: control group (n=10) and model group (n=20).Control group were fed with general diets, while model group were fed with the high fat diets to induce insulin resistance. After 4 weeks, the models have formed then were randomized into two groups: model group (n=10) and puerarin group (n=10). Puerarin group were treated with puerarin (100 mg?kg -1 ?d -1 , ip) for 6 weeks.GSK-3? protein was detected by Western-blot analysis. Body weight, serum triglyceride and cholesterol, fasting plasma glucose and serum insulin concentration were detected termly and the insulin sensitivity index was calculated. RESULTS: The model group showed hyperglycemia, hyperinsulinism, obviously obesity and the insulin resistance index (ISI) decrease by high fat diets, insulin resistance was induced by this way. Compared with model group, GSK-3? protein in adipocyte of puerarin group rats decreased (P

Objective: To investigate the antiatherosclerotic effect of the extract from grape seed in C57BL/6J mice. Method: The mice were fed with atherosclerotic diet for 20 w and then with basic diet or different dosage of grape seed extract for 4 w. The blood samples were examined for blood lipid. The sections of aorta were examined and scored microscopically. Results: After fed with atherogenic diet for 20 w, the aortic score was 7.2?1.3 and TG, Chol and MDA in serum were significantly increased. After fed with the extract of grape seed for 4 w, the aortic score was reduced to 6.0?1.2, and TG, TC, and MDA levels also decreased. Conclusion: The extract of grape seed has antiatherosclerotic effect.

The expressions of vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF)and pigment epithelium derived factor(PEDF)in the tubulointerstitium were determined by immunohistochemistry in the streptozotoein-induced diahetic rats. The mRNA expressions of VEGF and PEDF in normal rat kidney (NRK) were measured by using RT-PCR under different high glucose conditions. The results showed that VEGF expression increased and PEDF expression decreased in the kidney tissue of the streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats.Hiish glucose increased VEGF expression and decreased PEDF expression in N RK cells in a time-and dose-dependent manner. The unbalanced expressions of VEGF and PEDF may play an important role in the occurrence and progression of diabetic nephropathy.

Objective To examine the current situation of the career plateau among anesthesiologists and analyze the impact of occupational stressors on it. Methods A questionnaire survey was conducted on the anesthesiologists. A total of 300 questionnaires were distributed and 278 questionnaires were effectively collected. Statistical analysis using SPSS 19.0 was performed to assess the status quo of career plateau among anesthesiologists. Pearson correlation analysis and stepwise regression analysis were used to analyze the influence of occupational stressors on career plateau . Results The average value of occupational stressors among anesthesiologists was (3.22±0.55), and the average value of career plateau was (3.90±0.70). Occupational interest in the occupational stressors of anesthesiologists is negatively correlated with the occupational plateau (r=-0.552, P<0.01), and career development is negatively correlated with occupational plateau (r=-0.541, P<0.01) as well. Both occupational interest and career development show a negative predictive effect on the career plateau (β=-0.359, P<0.01 andβ=-0.334, P<0.01, respectively). Conclusion Career plateau among anesthesiologists is at a medium-to-high level. Occupational interest and occupational development in occupational stressors have a negative predictive effect on occupational plateaus, so hospital managers should pay attention to them.
