In recent half century,the incidence of male infertility is in an increasing tendency;however,the etiological factors and its pathogenesis are not fully clarified yet.By associating with the some results of our research,some hot spots on the pathogenesis of male infertility are briefly approached here,and the effects of varicocele,formaldehyde and infertility-related genes on male infertility are especially focused.

Objective To investigate the influence of class lecture on health care of sex and production to the sexual attitudes of college students. Methods 930 college students were assessed by The Sexual Attitudes Questionnaire(SAQ) before and after taking part in the lesson of health care of sex and production. Results The score of SAQ of all subjects was lower after class lecture (9.44 ± 2.67 ) than before ( 10.78 ± 2.65 ), there was significant difference(P＜ 0.05 ). Compared to before class lecture , the scores of male and female college students were decreased after education(P＜0. 05 ). There was apparent difference between clinical and nonclinical students before and after class lecture ( clinical (99.70 ± 2.50) vs ( 8.30 ± 1.70), P ＜ 0.05; nonclinical (11.71 ± 2.67)vs (10.81 ± 2.23), P＜0.05). Conclusion Sexual knowledge was increased, and the sexual attitudes was tended to maturity of the students. It' s nessary to promote opening lecture of Health Care of Sex and Production in college students.

Fifteen cases with atrial myxoma in our hospital from May 2001 to Dec 2008 were retrospectively analyzed.Patients presented with a variety of symptoms mimicking mitral valve disease,including palpitation, shortness of breath and activity intolerance.Pulmonary and systemic embolizations occurred in three patients and sudden syncope in one.Radiograph and echocardiography can help to reveal atrial myxoma.Definite diagnosis was made based on histological examinations.In 6 months - 6 years'follow-up one case recurred.Surgical treatment should be prompted once diagnosis established.Tumor pedicle must be completely removed to prevent recurrence.

Objective To study the protective effects of vitamin E(VE) on injury to male reproductive function in tail-suspended rats. Method Thirty adult male Spraque-Dawley(SD) rats were randomly divided into three groups:control, TS (tail-suspension) and VE+TS groups. TS and VE+TS groups were tail-suspended for 14 d,and VE was given orally to VE+TS group during tail-suspension. After the treatment, weight and morphology of testes, quality and amount of sperm, as well as serum hormones were observed. Objective To determine the Golgi dispersal in radiation damaged cells and the protective effect of vanillin derivatives.Methods Immunofluorescence, cell cycle analysis of flow-cytometry,Western blot,and clone formation were used.Results Immunofluorescence observation showed that the Golgi dispersal caused by 2 Gy 60 Coγ-ray was significantly increased in a dose-dependent manner in the range of 4-10 Gy as was demonstrated by the fact that the Golgi area was significantly increased. When the irradiated cells were treated with the radioprotective agent VND3207, a vanillin derivative,the Golgi dispersal induced by radiation was significantly reduced.The radiation-induced Golgi dispersal was also displayed in a pattern of time-course after irradiation in the HeLa cells, and persisted at least to 36 h post-irradiation. Cell cycle test results indicated that the Golgi dispersal was not associated with the G2/M arrest triggered by radiation-induced DNA damage response.VND3207 could promote cell survival by plate colony formation assay.Conclusion The Golgi dispersal can be caused byγ-ray irradiation in a dose-and time-dependent manner, and VND3207 can provide a good protection against radiation injury associated with inhibited Golgi dispersal.

Objective To study the effects of simulated weightlessness induced by tail-suspension on reproduction in adult male rats and its mechanisms. Methods Twenty Spraque-Dawley adult male rats were randomly divided into two groups: the experimental group and control group. Rats in the experimental group were tail-suspended for 14 days. After the treatment, the weight and morphology of testis, the quantity and quality of sperm, the level of serum testosterone and the apoptosis rate of testicular cells were observed. Results Compared with the control, the testicular weight, the quantity and quality of sperm, the level of serum testosterone significantly decreased (P＜0.05) while the apoptosis rate of testicular cells significantly increased (P＜0.05) in tail-suspended rats. In addition, hematoxylin and eosin (HE) staining showed that seminiferous tubules atrophied, spermatogenic cells decreased, seminiferous epithelial cells disintegrated and shed, and the lumina were azoospermic. Conclusion Simulated weightlessness induced by tail-suspension has a harmful effect on male reproduction of adult rats by increasing the apoptosis of testicular cells.

Respiratory dysfunction is the primary cause of death early after cervical spinal cord injury, and it can be restored by electrical stimulation, magnetic stimulation, nerve transfer surgery, and cell transplantation. This paper reviewed the anatomy, clinical manifestations,and associated restoration techniques of respiratory muscle dysfunction after cervical spinal cord injury.

Objective:To study the relationship between different pulse forces and cyclical power(CP)of radial artery motion.Methods:39 patients’and 20 healthy persons’ ECG and pressure sphygmograms were collected synchronously with NX-1 sphygmograph.On the basis of automatic detecting R waves of ECG and FFT analysis of pressure sphygmograms with SPTool of MATLAB 7.0.1,change in frequency domain of radial artery motion with different forces was observed and CP was worked out.Results: There is signifi cant deviation between CP of pulse tracings with different forces(pulse tracings with powerful force〉pulse tracings with normal force〉pulse tracings with weak force).Conclusion: CP of radial artery motion can be used to discriminate pulse force.

Objective To compare the difference of protein and lipid metabolism between patients with inflammatory bowel disease and healthy controls,and to investigate the association of these changes with disease activity and location of the lessions.Methods The retrospective cohort study was carried out.The data of protein and lipid metabolisms collected from 195 patients with ulcerative colitis,76patients with Crohn's disease and 97 healthy controls during 1995 to 2007 were analyzed.Disease activity were evaluated using simple clinieal colitis activity index and simple index of Crohn's disease activity.The erythrocyte sedimentation rate(ESR)and C-reactive protein(CRP)were measured.Results Serum levels of ESR in patients with ulcerative colitis were negatively linear correlated with serum levels of albumin/globulin ratio(β=-0.521,P＜0.01)and positively linear correlated with serum levels of α2globulin(β=0.319,P＜0.01).Serum levels of globulin in patients with Crohn's disease were positively linear correlated with serum levels of ESR(β=0.558,P＜0.01)and CRP(β=0.424,P=0.01).In ulcerative colitis,serum levels of albumin/globulin ratio,albumin and total cholesterol were significantly higher in patients with proctosigmoiditis than those in patients with lesions at other locus(P=0.003,0.005,0.038,respectively).In Crohn's disease,serum level of globulin was significantly higher in patients with lesions only at colon than that in patients with lesions only at small bowel(P=0.029).Conclusions Serum levels of albumin/globulin ratio and α2-globulin can be predictors of inflammatory activity in patients with ulcerative colitis.The increasing serum globulin may predict the progression of disease activity in patients with Crohn's disease.The nutritional deficiency is more critical in patiens with small bowel involvement than those with colon involvement.
