1.Primary Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma of Gastrointestinal Tract -A Clinicopathological Analysis of 32 Cases
Journal of Third Military Medical University 1983;0(03):-
This article is to report 32 pathologically proved cases of primary non-Hodg-kin's malignant lymphoma of the gastrointestinal tract including 9 cases in the stomach, 10 in the small intestines, 9 in the ileocecal region, and 4 in the large intestines. 22 patients were male and 10 female. The highest incidence occurred in the age group from 20 to 30- The main symptoms are abdominal pain( 30/32), intraabdominal mass (14/32), vomiting(6/32), and gastrointestinal bleeding (5/32).All the cases except one were of the diffuse type histologically. Analysis of the follow-up data of 24 cases found that the infiltration of the tumor cells into the deeper layers of the gastrointestinal walls and the occurrence of tumors in the small and large intestines were usually associated with poor prognosis. The criteria of diagnosis and differential diagnosis of this disease were briefly discussed.

Objective To investigate the expressions of epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR), cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) and P63 protein in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and their relationship with TNM staging and lymph node metastasis of NSCLC. Methods Seventy-eight paraffin-embedded specimens of NSCLC from 1998-2005 were collected in this study. Inclusion criteria included no chemotherapy or radiotherapy before operation. Pathological diagnosis was made after operation: 43 squamous carcinoma and 35 adenocarcinoma, 45 with lymph node metastasis and 33 without, 13 in stage Ⅰ, 19 in stage Ⅱ, 28 in stage Ⅲ and 18 in stage Ⅳ. The expressions of EGFR, COX-2 and P63 were determined by immunohistochemical staining (S-P). Results The expression rates of EGFR, COX-2 and P63 were 65.4% (51/78), 61.5% (48/78) and 56.4% (44/78) respectively in 78 cases of NSCLC. Significant difference in the expressions of COX-2 and P63 was found between squamous carcinoma and adenocarcinoma (P0.05). The positive rate of EGFR and COX-2 protein expressions in NSCLC of stage Ⅲ-Ⅳ and NSCLC with lymph node metastasis was significantly higher than that in stage Ⅰ-Ⅱ and NSCLC without lymph node metastasis (P0.05). Conclusion Over-expressions of EGFR and COX-2 may play an important role in invasion and metastasis of NSCLC. COX-2 and P63 may be valuable markers in differentiating pulmonary squamous cell carcinoma from pulmonary adenocarcinoma.

OBJECTIVE To investigate the status of traumatic infection among earthquake in order to provide reasonable evidence for anti-infective therapy. METHODS Samples were collected from 14 patients with compound fracture or osteofascial compartment syndrome for bacterial, fungal and anaerobic culturing, then according to pathogens to choose antimicrobial susceptibility test (AST). RESULTS Among 14 victims,10 had germ growth in wound secretions, the infection rate was 71.43%. Among 17 samples the bacteria, fungi and anaerobic were isolated in 12,4 and (samples, respectively),the isolated rates were 70.59%,23.53% and 5.89%. The main pathogens for the first culture were Enterobacter cloacae, coagulase negative Staphylococcus (CNS) and Acinetobacter. The Clostridium tetani and C. perfringens were all negative. We also isolated 5 strains of fungi from them 1 strain of Candida. CONCLUSIONS Most of the victims from disaster area have got bacterial infection. Most of them are combined infection, some of the infections are nosocomial infections. The key points of the treatment are to find pathogens immediately and choose a reasonable antibacterial agents according to the AST.

The multiplex polymerase chain reaction (PCR) technique was applied to detect the SARS-CoV (severe acute respiratory syndrome-associated coronavirus) specific target cDNA fragments in the present study. The target cDNA fragments of SARS-CoV were synthesized artificially according to the genome sequence of SARS-CoV in GenBank submitted by The Chinese University of Hong Kong, and were used as simulated positive samples. Five primers recommended by World Health Organization (WHO) were used to amplify the fragments by single PCR and multiplex PCR. Three target cDNA fragments (121, 182 and 302 bp), as well as the three different combinations of any two of these fragments, were amplified by single PCR. The combination of these three fragments was amplified by multiplex PCR. The results indicated that the multiplex PCR technique could be applied to detect the SARS-CoV specific target cDNA fragments successfully.
