1.Research Progress in Space Hematology
Space Medicine & Medical Engineering 2006;0(06):-
Spaceflight exerts substantial effects on several systems in humans. The hematologic abnormalities include mainly reduction in plasma, blood volume and red cell mass et al.The initial studies were focus on the changes in hematologic parameters. However, further studies on the physiological mechanisms of these effects showed substantial progress recently. The new meachnism called neocytolysis of physiological down-regulator of red cell mass was discovered. This review summarizes briefly the recent research findings.

Objective To study the application of magnetic resonance T2 -mapping and diffusion weighted imaging(DWI)in diagnosis of early cartilage degeneration of the knee joint. Methods 56 patients with clinical intends to diagnosis of early osteoarthritis of the knee were set as observation group, another 56 healthy volunteers were selected as healthy control group. The subjects of the two groups were given knee MRI T2 mapping and DWI,the T2 acquisition value and ADC value of the two groups were analyzed and compared. Results In the observation group, the side of the femoral (37.18 ±4.09),lateral tibial (32.16 ±2.75)and hip (34.56 ±4.21)were significantly lower than those in the healthy control group[femoral side (49.87 ±5.02),tibial side (47.34 ±5.01),hip surface (51.23 ±5.19)](t =20.16,18.36,23.65,all P <0.05).Conclusion Magnetic resonance T2 -mapping and DWI imaging can be found in the early knee cartilage degeneration, can lead to the rise of T2 and ADC value,so there is no cartilage damage to the cartilage damage.

Journal of Practical Radiology 2001;0(07):-
Objective To discuss and analyze the CT appearances and differential diagnosis of pulmonary tuberculomas. Methods 40 cases of pulmonary tuberculomas proved by surgery and pathology were included in the study and compared to 40 cases of peripheral-type bronchogenic carcinomas, which were also surgico-pathologically proved. Results Tuberculomas were most found in the posterior segments of the lung and exhibited well-demarcated lesions of homogeneous density. Some lesions also possessed characteristics like rough spiculation, minute calcification within the lesion and marginal calcification. Thick-walled, thin-walled or stellate cavities were also found. On contrast enhanced scans, tuberculomas showed little or ring enhancement. In addition, satelite lesions or pleural thickening were often found near the tuberculomas. Hilar and mediastinal lymph-nodes were calcified but not enlarged. Anti-tuberbulosis therapy often resulted in little or even no absorption. Conclusion More accurate diagnosis of pulmonary tuberculomas could be made after careful analysis of all CT signs and the clinical data. CT-guided needle biopsy could be used when the dignosis could not be made clearly.

BACKGROUND: Content-based medical image retrieval involves multiple domains.Due to different imaging principles of various medical images, there are differences in color, texture, and shape, which should be resolved.OBJECTIVE: As in content-based medical image retrieval system, feature extraction from image is very difficult and the retrieval is very time-consuming,a similar image retrieval method based on graph-cuts and rough sets is proposed.METHODS: In order to overcome the defects that graph-cuts is only suitable for small image end easily leads to a small cut-sets,a clustering was applied to image, and the Gomory-Hu cuts tree of image was established. An image feature library was built by removing the edges of Gomory-Hu cuts tree for the value of cut.Reduction of features in library was obtained based on rough sets and the number of features in similar compare decrease. This method was applied to retrieve brain tumor image in MRI brain image database.RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: Results show that this method can effectively retrieve brain tumor images in the library. The average retrieval precision rate and the average recall rates were 78.4% and 62.9%,respectively.

Space Medicine & Medical Engineering 2005;18(5):313-317
Objective To study the changes of ERK1/2 phosphorylation status induced by unloading of soleus muscle after tail suspension in rats. Method Hindlimb unloading(HU) was produced by tail suspension, which simulated the effect of weightlessness on male Wistar rats. Western blot technique was introduced to detect the total and phospho-ERK1/2 status in isolated soleus muscle of 7 d, 14 d HU and repective control groups. Result Total ERK1/2 in soleus muscle was not affected by 7 d and 14 d HU. The ERK1 phosphorylation status were declined significantly after 7 d and 14 d HU.The ERK2 phosphorylation status were declined significantly after 7 d HU, but not for 14 d HU. Conclusion The unloading of soleus muscle after simulated microgravity can decrease the phosphorylation status of ERK1/2, which may contribute to the atrophy of soleus muscle induced by simulated weightlessness.

Image processing research group applied immersive experience into “medical image processing”. A scheme named “introduction by game, case driven, lecture on specific theme, grouping experiment, and seminar”was designed and practiced. We designed a game for each subject and made students immersed in the game to feel the pleasure of learning. We changed the traditional teaching method which focused on every point of knowledge, presented and then decomposed the case before teaching each knowledge point which was related to the case. By grouping experiment and seminar, students can learn actively. We also developed a virtual experiment platform with .NET and Matlab for students to develop learning.

Objective To optimize the preparative procedure for stachydrine in Fructus Leonuri. Methods The preparation was screened by orthogonal experiment, and a mathematical model of relationship of extraction time, methanol concentration, and solid-liquid ratio with the content of stachydrine hydrochloride was established by using back-propagation (BP) neural network. And the process parameters were optimized with genetic algorithm (GA) . Results The optimum process parameters were as follows: extraction with 69% of methanol concentration and with solid-liquid ratio being 11 times for 62 min. The content of stachydrine obtained by BP neural network modeling and GA was higher than that achieved by orthogonal experiment. Conclusion The optimum preparative procedure could be achieved by combining BP modeling with GA. The model developed in this study was proved to be predictable and feasible for the optimization of process parameters of multi-dimension nonlinear system.
