Objective: To deduce the physiological function of Yangming Stomach Meridian of Foot, enrich the content of channel theory. Methods: Unscramble the related classic literature of Yangming Stomach Meridian of Foot, and analyze its channel courses and links, amount of qi and blood and the relationship between the manifestations of disease, main therapy rule of acupoints and the physiological function. Results: Stomach meridian is the head of the twelve meridians;abounds in qi and blood;smoothes the convergent tendon. Conclusion: Yangming Stomach Meridian of Foot is one of the most important meridians in the fourteen meridians. It is distributed on the anterior aspect of the body and communicates with the spleen and stomach, connects with many other organs, and keeps the functions and activities of all parts of the body in harmony and balance relatively through creating and transporting qi and blood.

Anything in the universe can be explained by Yin-yang theory of Chinese medicine. Synaptic connections in the central nervous system also embody a balance between Yin and Yang. To discover the synaptic processes of gathering, storing and retrieving information in the brain is a hotspot field of modem neuroscience. This paper attempts to analyze the synaptic connection in both structure and function from Yin-Yang theory. The connections of axons and dendrites between neurons arc malleable and constantly changing, showing a Yin-Yang balance anatomically. Remodeling, stabilization and plasticity changes of synaptic processes also embody the relationship of contradictions, conflicts and transformation of Yin-Yang functionally. Therefore, it is possible to achieve an unexpected result to solve some modem medical problems by using the thoughts and methods of Chinese medicine.

OBJECTIVE: To observe whether injection of medicine into low hydraulic resistance point along meridian brings about higher medicinal effect and to explore the efficacy of the theory that meridians are made up of channels featuring low hydraulic resistance by observing the diuretic effect of injecting furosemide or saline into the low hydraulic resistance point Shuifen (CV 9), vein and Zusanli (St 36) respectively. METHODS: Acute edema was induced in pigs by rapid intravenous injection of 2 000 ml normal saline. The pigs were divided into four groups: Shuifen (CV 9) injection of half dose furosemide group (SFF group), intravenous injection of full dose furosemide group (VF group), Zusanli (St 36) injection of full dose furosemide group (ZSLF group), and Shuifen (CV 9) injection of half dose normal saline group (SFS group). The accumulated urine quantity and the urine quantity generated in every 15-minute period were measured in each group respectively, every 15 minutes after injection, and the measurement lasted for two hours at one experiment. Each group involved eight times of experiments with one pig used for one experiment, which means the whole observation involved 32 times of experiments. RESULTS: The accumulated urine quantities observed in both SFF group and VF group were higher than those in the ZSLF group and the SFS group all through the measurement, showing significant differences during the period from the 15th minute to the 45th minute (P<0.05). But no significant difference was observed between the SFF group and the VF group during the whole 2-hour measurement (P>0.05). Analysis of urine quantity generated in every 15-minute period showed that diuretic effect climaxed during the 15th minute to the 30th minute in both SFF group and VF group. By contrast, ZSLF group reached diuresis climax during the 45th minute to 60th minute and no diuresis climax was observed in the SFS group all through the measurement. CONCLUSION: Injection of medicine into low hydraulic resistance point along meridian generates faster and more powerful medicinal potency, and this is likely to be applied to clinical practice. The theory that meridians are channels featuring low hydraulic resistance is important to the elucidation of meridians.

Objective To discuss the medication law of Professor Gu Shizhe in the treatment of insomnia based on various data mining techniques. Methods Clinical information of patients of Professor Gu was collected from the hospital management information system of outpatient clinic of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine(BUCM)and BUCM Famous Elderly TCM Inheritance Research Integrated Platform from January 2018 to October 2022.Professor Gu's books, such as Zhi Zhen Zhi Yao,and Gu Jisheng,Gu Shizhe Yi An Yi Hua Jing Cui,and the medical records from CNKI were screened.WPS Office 5.2.1 was used to build a database of medicine data for Professor Gu's TCM prescriptions, and R 4.2.1 was used for descriptive analysis and Apriori association rule analysis.SPSS Statistics 26.0 was used for clustering analysis, combined with theoretical analysis,to extract Professor Gu's medication law and characteristics in the treatment of insomnia. Results A total of 307 prescriptions were included, involving 250 kinds of Chinese materia medica, among which 30 were high-frequency drugs. The top 5 most frequently used were Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma Praeparata Cum Melle,Fossilizid,Poria,Bupleuri Radix, and Ziziphi Spinosae Semen. The meridians were mainly liver and lung meridian, and the properties were mainly warm and cold, and the tastes were mainly sweet and bitter.Five core drug groups were obtained by clustering analysis, including Xiaochaihu Decoction,Erchen Decoction,Huanglian Wendan Decoction,Suanzaoren Decoction,Xiaoyao Powder and other prescriptions. Conclusion The characteristics of Professor Gu's treatment of insomnia are to reconcile Shaoyang, clear the heart and soothe the mind;pay attention to yin and yang, regulate the liver;pay attention to the liver, gallbladder, spleen and stomach;the main idea of syndrome differentiation is to reconcile Shaoyang, run the Shaoyang cardinal, and at the same time regulate qi and benefit qi and nourishes yin.
