Objective To investigate the radionuclide 99m TcO 4 imaging parameters of thyroid in hyperthyroid patients. Methods 200 patients with hyperthyroidism including 153 women and 47 men received radionuclide 99m TcO 4 plane scintigraphy for thyroid. Then the size and anatomic configuration of thyroid, tracer distribution, and the pyramid lobe appearance were analyzed. Results 400 images of thyroid lobes were obtained from 200 patients. The length of single thyroid lobe in 169 patients were between 5cm and 7cm, in 33 patients exceeded 7cm, and in 38 patients was less than 5cm. The width of single thyroid lobe in 144 patients were between 2.5cm and 3.5cm, in 6 patients exceeded 3.5cm, and in 85 patients ware less than 3.5cm. 61% of patients had the widened narrow part of thyroid. The tracer evenly distributed in most patients, and small multinodular thyroid and single nodular thyroid were found only in 9.0% and 3.2% patients respectively. Pyramid lobe appeared in 12 patients. Conclusion SPECT imaging paremeters of the thyroids in hyperthyroid patients mainly were a diffuse goiter with the widened narrow part of thyroid and without nodule and pyramid lobe.

AIM: The study was undertaken to explore the dynamic changes of the concentration of nitric oxide(NO) in ischemic myocardium and its mechanism.METHODS: In vivo myocardial ischemia of mice and in vitro perfused isolated heart of rat were used in the experiment. The effects of severity and time of ischemia on NO production, NOS activity and mRNA were examined, respectively. RESULTS: There was a considerable difference (P

Objective To evaluate the therapeutic effect of Yin-Huang pills combined with Banlangen granule therapy on upper respiratory infection. Methods 120 cases of acute upper respiratory infection were randomly separated into an experiment group and a control group. The experiment group was treated by Yin-Huang pills combined with Banlangen granule;while the control group was treated by Yin-Huang pills. Results There was significant difference of cure rate between the experiment group(75%)and the control group(51.6%),with P<0.01.There was no significant difference of total effective rate between the experiment group(96.6%)and the control group(88.3%),with P>0.05.Conclusion Yin-Huang pills combined with Banlangen granule therapy was more effective in controlling acute upper respiratory infection, and this therapy caused few adverse effects.

Objective To investigate on out the deformity in the elderly of longevous area and the characteristics of the regions in Yunnan Province. Methods According to the forth census information, using multistage sample typical survey to the 18 counties (cities) with centenarians over 1/100 000. The deformity types of people aged 60 and over and the deformity rate of various age groups and its distribution were investigated. Results Among the 6 477 people aged 60 and over investigated, a total of 1 928 people were in deformity, the deformity rate was 29 8%. The elder the people, the higher the deformity rate was. The highest deformity rate was in Kunming and Chuxiong prefectures. The audition deformity was highest among all types of deformity in elder people. The occurrence of fracture was highest in Miao Nation in Honghe prefecture, reaching 18.1%. About 14 % of the centenarian people sufferred from dementia. Conclusions Effective control in blood pressure and osteoporosis are important method to protect the elder people and to promote the level of quality of life of the elderly.

Objective To understand the blood pressure level of the aged in longevous area of Yunnan Province. Methods According to the forth census information, typical multistaged sample-survey was used for 15 counties (cities) with centenarians over 1/100 000 and the 3 counties (cities) with centenarians under 1/100 000. The blood pressure of people aged 60 and over were measured and the investigation questionnaire was filled in. Results The overall level of the blood pressure was systolic pressure (130.8?24.6) mm Hg and diastolic pressure (81.7?14.6) mm Hg. The systolic pressure increased in slow slope with the age growing, ranged 126.2-137.6 mm Hg, and higher in male than in female. The diastolic pressure was not affected by age growing. The difference of blood pressure in nationality was mainly affected by the latitude and the elevation. Conclusions With the age increasing, the blood pressure level of the aged people gradually increases.

Objective To explore the clinical value of sequential endoscopic therapy(SET) in treating severe acute cholangitis (SAC) in the eldly patients. Methods 38 eldly SAC patients were divided into 2 groups:emergency operation group and SET group. The efficacies in the emergency and stable periods were compared between the two groups. SET consisted endoscopic nasobilliary drainge (ENBD)first; after the disease was controlled, endoscopic sphincterotomy (EST) and stone removing by a basket with netting on top were done, and followed by laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC) in patients with cholelithiasis in the stable period. Results Compared with the emergency operation group, the mortality of SET group reduced from 21.1%to 5.3%,the rate of complications from 57.9% to 15.8%, the preoperative preparation time was shortened from 12.4 hours to 7.6 hours, postoperative recovery time from 6.5 days to 3.5 days, and the period of total treatment from 45 days to 23 days. Conclusions SET is an ideal alternative for eldly SAC patients,it has minimum injury, effectiveness and shorter treatment course.

Background and purpose:Hepatitis B virus X protein (HBx) and hypoxia inducible factor-1α(HIF-1α) play key roles in hepatocarcinogenesis and the development of hepatocellular carcinoma. Positive correlation on the expression of these 2 proteins in hepatocellular carcinoma tissues has been found, whereas the underlying mechanisms have not been fully elucidated. This study focused on the role of HBx in regulating HIF-1α and the underlying mechanisms in hepatocellular carcinoma cells. Methods:The expression plasmids were transfected into Huh7 cells with LipofectemineTM 2000. Western blot analysis was applied to detect the expressions of HIF-1αand HIF-1β protein. The transcriptional activity of HIF-1α was detected by the commercial analysis kits. The mRNA levels of HIF-1αand its target genes, including vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and multi-drug resistance gene 1 (MDR1), were detected by quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR). Immunoprecipitation analysis was applied to detect the interaction of HIF-1α, HBx and protein von Hippel-Lindau (pVHL). Results:Huh7 cells transfected with HBx plasmid led to sharp increase of HIF-1αprotein and transcriptional activity, as well as the mRNA of VEGF and MDR1 (P<0.05). However, the mRNA level of HIF-1αwas not obviously changed after HBx transfection (P>0.05). Meanwhile, HBx also signiifcantly impaired the function of pVHL in mediating the degradation of HIF-1αby ubiquitin hydrolase. This finding was further confirmed by the immunoprecipitation analysis, which showed that HBx could directly bind to pVHL, but not to HIF-1α. Conclusion:HBx may inhibit the inter-activation between pVHL and HIF-1αthrough directly binding to pVHL, and thus enhance the stability and transcriptional activity of HIF-1α.
