1.Question on Baihu Jia Renshen decoction syndrome in Shanghan Lun
International Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine 2010;32(1):29-31
According to the texts of Baihu Jia Renshen Decoction in the books of Maijing,Qianjin Yaofang,Qianjin Yifang,Taiping Shenghui Fang,Hxin Fang, and Jingui Yuhan Jing, the author drew the following conclusions:Baihu Jia Renshen Decoction in the present Shanghan Lun was very likely the written error Of Baihu Decoction, which was more close to the original meaning of Zhang Zhong-jing.From the period of Sui and Tang Dynasty, doctors had gotten new experiences in their practices. They added Ginsen into Baihu Decoction and named the new decoction"BaihU Jia Renshen Decoction",which was still in use today.Although there was not intrinsically difierence between Baihu Decoction and Baihu Jia Renshen Decoction, while the saying of"adding Renshen or not, should be decided by patient's Yuanqi"by doctor Shu Chi-yuan in Qing Dynasty had a significant impact. The erroneous views by some recent scholars can't be complied with, who advocated that the four main symptoms of Baihu Decoction syndrome should belong to syndrome of Baihu Jia Renshen Decoction according to the original texts in Shanghan Lun.

Chinese Journal of Neurology 2001;0(02):-
Objective To investigate the role of nitric oxide synthase (NOS) in neurotoxic mechanisms of beta amyloid (A?) and the pathogenesis of Alzheimer′s disease (AD). Methods 35 adult rats were divided into 3 groups: normal control, saline injection, and A? 1 40 injection groups A? 1 40 was initially solubilized in saline (10?g/?l) and incubated for at least 1 week before use 1?l incubated A? 1 40 or saline were injected into dorsal blade of dentate gyrus in right hippocampus of rats Immunohistochemical assay of neuronal NOS (nNOS) and inducible NOS (iNOS) was performed at the 2 nd,10 th,and 30 th day after A? 1 40 or saline injection. Results The nNOS like immunoreactivity (nNOSLIR) neurons were found in different brain regions such as cortex, striatum and hippocampus of normal rats, and the number of neurons in dentate gyrus was 8 96?0 31 The number and configuration of nNOSLIR neurons were found without changes after saline injection (8 97?0 29) At 2,10,and 30 d after A? 1 40 injection, the number of nNOS neurons at the site around injection was significantly reduced (3 13?0 27,2 89?0 19 and 2 91?0 25 respectively),but there were no notable differences at these three experimental time points iNOS like immunoreactivity (iNOSLIR) cells were not found in any brain region of normal or saline injected rats After A? 1 40 injection,a large percentage of glia (mainly were astrocytes) had an activated morphological change and showed a strong iNOSLIR around the injection site The responded areas with these cells were 0 905?0 082,0 962?0 161 and 0 935?0 125 mm 2 respectively at 2,10 and 30 day after A? 1 40 injection, but there appeared no significant differences among them. Conclusions The results demonstrate that intrahippocampal injection of A? 1 40 may result in a significant loss of nNOS neurons and induce a considerable expression of iNOS in astrocytes, indicating that NOS may play an important role in neurotoxic mechanisms of A? and the pathogenesis of AD

International Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine 2009;31(3):218-220
The article made a study on the earliest literature and the initial time of the "Five Orbiculi" theory in TCM. By analyzing the masons for different locations of "Five Orbiculi" recorded in ancient TCM books, the author argued against that the term of "Five Orbiculi" originated from ancient India and the "Five Orbiculi" theory was a product with the combination of traditioinal Chinese and Indian cultures. The author further put forward that the "Five Orbiculi" theory most probably was a Chinese traditional medical innovation under the influence of Internal Classic of Medicine, a great development to the theory recorded in Miraculous Pivot On Serious Confusion.

Objective To observing the effects of health education on modified lifestyle and behavior patterns among migrant workers. Methods Individuals from two factories were randomly assigned to the intervention group ( n = 262 ; men 129, women 133 ; mean age 31.8) and the control group ( n = 147 ;men 75, women 72; mean age 31.8). The intervention group received 4-months' health education before changes of awareness of health knowledge, cigarette smoking, alcohol consumption, physical activities, mental health and medical consultation. Results In the intervention group, the awareness of the risk of cigarette smoking and alcohol consumption and normal levels of blood pressure and obesity was significantly improved at 4 months(χ2 =59.65, 47.69, 19.50, and 30. 17; all P<0. 01 ). However, no significant improvement in awareness of AIDS was found in the intervention group. Of the intervention group, some unfavorable lifestyles and behavior patterns were modified ( cigarette smoking χ2 = 4.50 ; altitude toward clinic visit χ2 = 7.09 ; both P<0. 05 ). Conclusion Health education could help to improve the awareness of health knowledge and modify lifestyle and behavior patterns of migrant workers.

Journal of Preventive Medicine 2022;34(9):893-897
Objective:
To investigate the inhibition of tanshinoneⅡA (TanⅡA) on the proliferation of lung cancer cells.
Methods:
Human lung cancer cell lines A549, SK-MES-1, H446 and H460 were cultured in vitro and treated with TanⅡA at concentrations of 0.3, 0.6, 1.3, 2.5, 5.0, 10.0 mg/mL, while untreated cells served as controls. Cell proliferation was measured by using CCK-8 assay, and apoptosis was measured using flow cytometry, while the expression of apoptosis-related proteins was determined using Western blotting. The apoptotic rate of lung cancer cells was compared between Tan ⅡA-treated cells and untreated cells.
Results:
Tan ⅡA inhibited lung cancer cell proliferation in a time-dependent and concentration-dependent manner, and the survival rates of A549, SK-MS-1, H446 and H460 cells reduced with the concentration of TanⅡA (t=4.503, 2.114, 2.103 and 3.567; all P<0.05) and the duration of TanⅡA treatment (t=5.189, 3.079, 3.023 and 3.845; all P<0.05). The 48 h half maximal inhibitory concentrations (IC50 values) of TanⅡA were (1.18±0.12), (0.78±0.08), (1.55±0.16) and (1.27±0.14) mg/mL against A549, SK-MES-1, H446 and H460 cells, respectively. Following 48 h treatment with Tan ⅡA at a concentration of 2.5 mg/mL, the apoptotic rates of A549, SK-MS-1, H446 and H460 cells were (34.97±3.78)%, (37.62±2.48)%, (18.27±2.98)% and (19.17±2.30)%, which were significantly significantly higher than those of untreated cells [(4.86±0.36) %, (3.21±0.48) %, (3.25±0.26)% and (2.66±0.19)%, all P<0.05]. Reduced Akt1 protein expression, elevated Bax/Bcl-2 expression ratio, and elevated caspase-9 and caspase-3 protein expression were detected in lung cancer cells treated with 2.5 mg/mL TanⅡA for 48 h relative to untreated cells
Conclusion
TanⅡA may inhibit lung cancer cell proliferation in a time- and concentration-dependent manner via the Bax/Bcl-2/caspase-9/caspase-3 pathway.

BACKGROUND:For pediatric patients with aplastic anemia in China, it is difficult to find human leucocyte antigen-matched sibling donors that are mostly replaced by parental donors.
OBJECTIVE:To retrospectively analyze the clinical efficacy and safety of parental haploidentical peripheral blood hematopoietic stem cel transplantation in children with relapsed and refractory severe aplastic anemia.
METHODS:Seventeen children with relapsed and refractory severe aplastic anemia who had no matched sibling or unrelated donor and failed to respond to immunosuppressive therapy were subjected to parental haploidentical peripheral blood hematopoietic stem cel transplantation. A conditioning regimen of fludarabine+cyclophosphamide+rabbit anti-human thymocyte immunoglobulin antibody and the triple therapy of methotrexate, cyclosporine A and mycophenolate mofetil were applied to prevent graft-versus-host disease.
RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: (1) Of the 17 children, 16 cases (94%) reached hematopoietic reconstitution, and the median time of neutrophils≥ 0.5×109/L and platelets≥ 20×109/L was 13 (11-15) days and 17 (12-28) days, respectively. (2) Incidence of acute graft-versus-host disease was 47% (8 of 17 cases), including 29% (5/17) of grades I-II and 18% (3/17) of grades III-IV. Incidence of chronic graft-versus-host disease was 41% (7/17). (3) With a median folow-up duration of 268 (43-753) days, the overal survival rate was 70.6% (12/17). Five dead cases (29%) belonged to transplantation-related death, including one case of fungal skin infections, one case of graft-versus-host disease, three cases of severe lung infection. No relapse case was reported. These findings indicate that if there are no matched sibling or unrelated donors and the immunosuppression effect is poor, parental haploidentical peripheral blood hematopoietic stem cel transplantation is a safe and effective salvage treatment for children with relapsed and refractory severe aplastic anemia.
