Objective To study the ultrasonic features of the congenital vaginal reclined septum syndrome (CVRS) in order to apply a precise way for operations. Methods To diagnose CVRS accurately before operation, the ultrasonogram and clinical characteristics of 15 cases were studied retrospectively. Results There were duplicated uterus and cervices with ipsilateral renal agenesis on the reclined septum side in all the patients,11 in the right and 4 in the left. All of 10 cases of type Ⅰhad been made final diagnosis before operation according to the specific ultrasonogram and the rest of type Ⅱ and type Ⅲ had been made reliable diagnosis. Conclusions Ultrasonic examination should be the first way to diagnose CVRS.

Objective To evaluate the sera level of soluble intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (sICAM-1) and soluble E-selectin (sE-selectin) in patients with rheumatic diseases and to explore the correlation between the sera level of soluble adhesion molecules (sAM) and clinical findings. Methods The concentrations of sICAM-1 and sE-selectin in the sera of patients with rheumatic diseases (SLE, RA, PM/DM) and patients without rheumatic diseases, as well as the healthy controls were measured by the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). BACKGROUND:Heat Induction Typodont System (HITS) and Double-Slot Lingual Bracket System are patented products of the research group.It is very important to explore a good control of anterior tooth torque on the micro-implant-double-slot lingual bracket system.OBJECTIVE:To provide the experimental basis for force system applied for controlling the anterior tooth torque in lingual orthodontics through Typodont experiment based on the HITS.METHODS:Sixteen Class Ⅱ1 maxillary Typodont models without first premolar were made.Micro-implants were implanted in the lingual region of posterior teeth and labial region of anterior teeth.The direction of the retracting force was adjusted by changing the position of the lingual micro-implant (with a distance of 4,8 mm from the alveolar crest) and the length of the hook (4,8 mm).And lingual retracting force (150,300 g) and labial intruding force (50,100 g) were loaded.The tooth movement by HITS was simulated and the models were scanned before and after force loading.Then the three-dimensional images were reconstructed by Mimics 17.0.Factorial variance analysis was adopted to compare the anterior movement changes under different loading modes.RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:When the length of the hook was 4 mm/8 mm and the lingual micro-implant was 6 mm/10 mm from the alveolar crest,the displacement difference between the incisal edge and the root of the anterior teeth was smaller than other groups.The optimal mechanics was 150 g for the lingual retracting force and 100 g for the labial intruding force.It could provide a satisfactory control to the anterior teeth torque when retracting force and labial intruding force were loaded at the same time during the space closing phase of lingual treatment.This study based on HITS provided a scientific basis for the clinical application of micro-implant-double-slot lingual bracket system in space closing phase.

Objective To investigate CT features of pediatric mediastinal neuroblastoma.Methods The CT performance of pediatric mediastinal neuroblastoma confirmed by clinical and pathology in 17 cases were retrospectively analyzed.The tumor growth pattern,size,density,degree of enhancement,invasion to the surrounding tissues and metastatic characteristics were observed,and the results were compared with pathological analysis.Results Among the 17 cases,2 were at the right posterior upper mediastinum,3 at posterior right middle and upper mediastinum,3 at the posterior right middle and lower mediastinum,1 at the posterior right lower mediastinum,3 at the posterior left middle mediastinum,3 at the posterior left middle and lower mediastinum,1 at the posterior left lower mediastinum,and 1 at bilateral posterior middle and lower mediastinum.The average tumor size was 6.3 ×4.3 cm,ranging from 2.3 ×2.0 cm ～ 12.6 ×4.0 cm.CT plain scan showed 8 cases with clear boundary and 9 case without clear boundary.13 cases were with inhomogeneous density and 4 cases with homogeneous density.8 calcification of grainy or strip was found in the tumor.10 cases were with pleural thickening and 5 cases with pleural effusion.6 cases were with tracheal or main bronchial compression,4 with cardiac compression,7 with pulmonary artery compression,and 1 with descending aorta compression were found.6 cases were with tumors crossing the midline,5 with intervertebral foramen growth,3 wrapped around the aorta,3 with rib attack damage,2 with rib compression deformation,2 with thoracic invasion,and 1 into the upper abdomen.10 cases were with mediastinal lymph nodes enlargement,10 with bone metastasis,4 with cervical lymph nodes enlargement,1 with liver metastasis,and 1 with cerebral metastasis.Enhanced CT scan was performed in 14 cases:11with inhomogeneous enhancement,and 3 with homogeneous enhancement.The average CT value of the 3 mild enhancement was 36 HU,ranging from 20 to 56 HU.The average CT value of the 8 moderate enhancement was 53 HU,ranging from 36 to74 HU.The average CT value of the 3 marked enhancement 72 HU,ranging from 56 to 88 HU.7 punctate vessels and 6 polycystic changes were found in the tumors.Conclusions Mediastinal neuroblastoma in children are with certain characteristics.CT findings with clinical manifestations can make a definite diagnosis.

Objective To explore the feasibility and curative effect of extracellular matrix (ECM) fibrinolytic therapy in order to cure radiation-induced brachial plexopathy (RIBP) and to discuss the principle, indication and precautions. Methods The treatment was taken on 16 cases that had a definite clinical diagnosis and we took a systematic examination to make sure that there was no recurrence or metastasis of the tumor.Brachial plexus and tender area block was taken once a week by injection of mixture of hyaluronidase, hexadecadrol, Vitamine B12 and lidocaine. The therapy was applied for 6 to 12 weeks. Results All the patients were followed up for a period of 0.5 to 10 years. Four cases had an evident alleviation of the symptoms and got a function resumption of hands; 5 cases had an alleviation of pain and improvement of sensation and the progress of illness were terminated, but motor function didn't have improvement; 7 cases had a continued aggravation of the symptoms. All the cases found improvement in electromyography. Concluslon The aim of fibrinolytic therapy is to dissolve the extra ECM such as hyaluronic acid around nerves in order to achieve a new homeostasis. It can relieve the conglutination and entrapment at nerve inside and outside, reduce the pressure of neuraxon and create an availing condition for the regenesis of nerve and the regain of function.

Objective To study the immunological pathogenesis of gluteal muscle contracture. Methods In 43 children with gluteal muscle contracture and 22 normal control cases, peripheral blood T-lymphocytes, B-lymphocyte and its subset were analyzed with flow cytometry. Results The percent of CD4+, B-lymphocyte and CD4+/CD8+ in children with gluteal muscle contracture were all significantly higher than those in the control(P0.05). Conclusion There is disorder of immunological regulation in children with gluteal muscle contracture. Immunologic factors may play an important role in the pathogenesis of gluteal muscle contracture.

Objective To compare the effects of electroacupuncture at points Shangjuxu(ST37), Zusanli(ST36), Xiajuxu(ST39) and Yanglingquan(GB34) on colonic expressions of interleukin-1b (IL-1b) and nicotinic acetylcholine receptor a7 mRNA (nAchRa7mRNA) in ulcerative colitis rats and investigate if large intestine lower He-Sea point Shangjuxu has relative specificity to fu organ diseases. Method Seventy healthy SD rats were randomized into blank, model, Shangjuxu, Zusanli, Xiajuxu, Yanglingquan and Chengjin groups, 10 rats, half male and half female, each. A rat model of ulcerative colitis was made by induction of 2-4-6 three nitrobenzene sulfonic acid/ethanol solution enema in every group except the blank group. After successful model making and ten days of treatment, rat colonic mucosal ulcers and inflammation were observed macroscopically, colonic IL-1bcontent was measured by ELISA and the expression of nAchRa7mRNA was determined by RT-PCR. Result Compared with the model group, colonic lesions were reduced in varying degrees, colonic IL-1b content was significantly lower and the expression of nAchRa7mRNA was higher in every acupoint group (P<0.05, P<0.01);the colonic ulcer score was lower in the Shangjuxu and Zusanli groups (P<0.05, P<0.01). Compared with the Shangjuxu group, colonic expression of nAchRa7mRNA was lower in the other four acupoint groups (P<0.01); colonic mucosal ulcers and inflammatory lesions were more severe and the colonic ulcer score and the IL-1bcontent were higher in the Xiajuxu, Yanglingquan and Chengjin groups (P<0.05, P<0.01). Conclusion The mechanism of electroacupuncture treatment for ulcerative colitis may be that it regulates abnormal immunologic function by modulating IL-1b and nAchRa7mRNA and reduces mucosal lesions. The overall therapeutic effect of Shangjuxu is better than those of Zusanli, Xiajuxu, Yanglingquan and Chengjin, indicating that Shangjuxu has relative specificity to fu organ large intestine.

Liver fibrosis occurs as compensatory responses to tis-sue repairing process in a wide range of chronic liver injures.It is characterized by excessive deposition of extracellular matrix (ECM)in liver tissues.The new discovery shows that suppres-sor of cytokine signaling (SOCS-3)is strictly associated with fi-brogenic progression of chronic liver diseases.Recent basic and clinical investigations also demonstrate that liver fibrogenesis is accompanied by SOCS-3,which critically determines the patho-
genesis and prognosis of liver fibrosis.This review summarizes current knowledge on SOCS-3 and the relationships between SOCS-3 and liver fibrosis.On the other hand,it also presents the different strategies that have been used in experimental mod-els to counteract excessive SOCS-3 and the role of SOCS-3 in the prevention and treatment of liver fibrosis.

Objective To study the relationship between the C677T polymorphisms of N5,N10-methylenetetrahydrofolate re-ductase(MTHFR)gene and type 2 diabetic nephropathy(T2DN).Methods By using PCR-RFLP method,the C677T polymor-phisms of MTHFR was analyzed in 163 cases of type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM),which included diabetic nephropathy(DN group, n=82)and diabetes without complications(DM group,n=81),and 77 cases of healthy people as the control group(CON).Plasma total Hcy levels were also measured for all the subjects.Results The frequencies of MTHFR TT and CT homogenetic type and al-lele T(4.9%,37.8%,23.8%)in the DN group were significantly higher than those in the DM(2.5%,28.4%,16.7%)group or the CON group(0.0%,29.8%,14.9%).However,there was no significant difference in MTHFR genotype and allele frequency be-tween the DM group and the CON group.Moreover,plasma Hcy levels were markedly higher in the patients with allele TT and CT genotype than those in the patients with CC genotype,the difference showing statistical significance (P <0.01).The univariate lo-gistic regression analysis showed that the C677T polymorphism of MTHFR gene was closely associated with the development of DN.The odds ratio was 1 .660 and the 95% confidence interval was 1.038 and 2.655 respectively.Conclusion The C677T polymor-phisms of MTHFR gene is associated with T2DN in Southeast Guangxi and the allele T might be the susceptibility gene for DN.
