Journal of Acupuncture and Tuina Science 2005;3(6):13-14
Purpose: To observe the therapeutic effect of radio-frequency current therapy and TDP plus electroacupuncture in treating chronic prostatitis. Methods: The WE2102-3 type radio-frequency current apparatus made in Dalian and TDP plus electroacupuncture were adopted to treat 35 cases of chronic prostatitis, each treatment lasted 40 min, and 15 times made up a course of treatment, 2-3 courses in all. Results: Twelve cases was cured, 10 cases was remarkably effective, 8 cases was effective, 5 cases got no effect, with the total effective rate being 62.9%. Conclusion: The radio-frequency current therapy and TDP plus electro-acupuncture had a better effect on chronic prostatitis.

Objective: Our purpose was to study the relationship between the Fas antigen expression and neuron apoptosis after cerebral ischemia. Methods: We detected the Fas antigen expression and neuron apoptosis dynamically in the animal models with cerebral ischemia by immunohistochemistry and terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase-mediated dUTP-biotin nick end labeling (TUNEL) method. Results: Fas antigen was positive after 30 minutes of ischemia and reached peak at 60 minutes. At the 24th hour, it began to decrease, and negative on the 3th day. While the positive cell for TUNEL method appeared after 60 minutes of ischemia, reached peak on 3 day, and decreased on 7 day. Conclusion: Neuron apoptosis after cerebral ischemia is closely related to the over-expression of Fas antigen.

BACKGROUND:Tissue engineering provides new ideas and approaches for repair of cartilage defects.
OBJECTIVE:To develop a complete set of solutions for construction of tissue engineered cartilagein vitro, with chondrocytes as seed cels and cross-linked sodium hyaluronate as scaffold materials.
METHODS: New Zealand rabbit articular chondrocytes were isolated, counted, and then cultured and passaged to prepare cellsuspension. Toluidine blue staining, RT-PCR and immunocytochemistry were exerted to evaluate the cultured cels. Chondrocytes were seeded and co-cultured with cross-linked sodium hyaluronate scaffold for 21 days. Then, RNA was isolated for RT-PCR, and frozen sections were prepared for morphological observation and immunohistochemistry study.
RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:The chondrocytes could adhere to the cross-linked sodium hyaluronate scaffold and aggregate, growing between fibers or adhering to the scaffold in a monolayer manner. The transcripts of cartilage specific aggrecan gene and colagen type II alpha 1 gene and cartilage specific protein colagen type II were expressed in cel-scaffold complexes to maintain the phenotype of chondrocytes. Cel-scaffold complexes co-cultured in vitro can form cartilage extracelular matrix, by which tissue engineered cartilage is expected to be obtained.

Objective To explore the clinical effects of transvaginal acupoint injection in the treatment of chronic pelvic pain induced by pelvic floor myofascitis. Methods All 80 patients with pelvic floor myofascitis were randomly assigned to an observation group and a control group, with 40 patients in each group. The observation group was given the treatment of transvaginal pain spot injection, and the control group was given transvaginal non-pain spot injection. Changes of clinical symptoms, signs, pain scores and other indices before the treatment, 1 week and 2 weeks after the treatment between the two groups of patients were observed and compared. Results Comparison of pain scores between the treatment group and the control group before the treatment was not significantly different (P>0.05); pain scores after the treatment in the two groups were significantly lower compared to those before the treatment, and the differences in the two groups were both significant (P<0.01). The curative effects in the treatment group were better than those in the control group (P<0.01). Conclusion Transvaginal acupoint injection is able to significantly alleviate chronic pelvic pain induced by pelvic floor myofascitis, but accurate pain spot injection is required.

Objective To explore the features of non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) with hemophagocytic syndrome (HPS) as the initial manifestation at diagnosis. Methods The morbidity and treatment of two B-cell NHL patients with HPS as the initial manifestation were retrospectively analyzed, and the literature were reviewed at home and abroad. Results Two B-cell NHL patients with HPS were treated with the HLH-94 protocol to control febrile condition. After then, R-CHOP protocol (dexamethasone substituted for prednisone) was used and their results were good. In reviewing the literature, it was felt that the main sub-type of B-cell lymphoma-associated HPS (B-LAHPS) was diffuse large B-cell lymphoma. However, sub-types of T-cell lymphoma-associated HPS (T-LAHPS) had no significant difference. The incidence of T-LAHPS was significantly higher than that of B-LAHPS in China and South Korea, but there was no significant difference in the Western countries. T-cell lymphomas were more vulnerable to HPS. The median age of B-LAHPS patients at diagnosis was significantly higher than that of T-LAHPS patients. The median survival and overall survival time of B-LAHPS patients were longer than those of T-LAHPS patients by virtue of the application of rituximab. Conclusion B-cell NHL with HPS as the initial manifestation treated with the 2004-HLH plus R-CHOP protocol could achieve good outcomes.

Enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli(ETEC)infection can induce watery diarrhea, leading to dehydration, electrolyte disturbance, and even death in severe cases. Recombinant B subunit/inactivated whole-cell cholera(rBS/WC)vaccine is effective in preventing ETEC infectious diarrhea. On the basis of the latest evidence on etiology and epidemiology of ETEC,as well as the effectiveness, safety, and health economics of rBS/WC vaccine,National Clinical Research Center for Child Health(The Children’s Hospital,Zhejiang University School of Medicine)and Zhejiang Provincial Center for Disease Control and Prevention invited experts to develop expert consensus on rBS/WC vaccine in prevention of ETEC infectious diarrhea. It aims to provide the clinicians and vaccination professionals with guidelines on using rBS/WC vaccine to reduce the incidence of ETEC infectious diarrhea.
