Objective To investigate effects of neural retina on development of the structure of outer blood retinal barrier in embryogenesis. Methods The retinal neural epithelium (RNE) and pigment epithelium (RPE) layers of 150, 120 and 90 embryonic chicken eyes incubated for 7, 10, and 14 days were peeled off. RNE was used to prepare the culture medium with different conditions (7drcSF3, 10drcSF3, 14drcSF3). RPE cells of 7- and 14-incubated chicken embryos were cultured on laminin-coated transwell filter. The SF3, 7drcSF3, 10drcSF3, 14drcSF3 medium were used respectively in the apical chamber and SF2 was used in basolateral chamber. After the formation of monolayer, the transepithelial electrical resistance of the RPE was detected. After the fixation of RPE cells, the condition of the tight junction among the cells was observed by immunohistochemistry and transmission electron microscopy. Results For the RPE cells of 7- and 14-day incubated embryonic eyes, the difference of TER in various medium of SF3/SF2, 7drcSF3/SF2, 10drcSF3/SF2, 14drcSF3/SF2 was statistically significant (P

ObjectiveTo investigate the imaging characteristics of solitary fibrous tumor(SFT).MethodsThis study included 11 cases with SFT proved by pathological results. The imaging manifestations were retrospectively reviewed and analyzed in comparison with surgical and pathological results. Among them,8 patients underwent CT plain scan (1/8) or enhanced scan (7/8),4 patients underwent MR plain scan (2/4) or enhanced scan (2/4),and only 1 patient underwent both CT and MR scan. Results( 1 )SFT were located in the thoracic cavity(2/11 ),abdominal and pelvis(5/11 ),and somatic soft tissues (4/11 ).The average tumor size was 11.8 cm ( 2.5 to 23.0 cm).Among them,4 tumors were round or ellipse, and 7 tumors were irregular.Eight tumors had well-defined contours, and the others showed illdefined contours.(2)On CT scan, all SFTs showed inhomogeneous density with low density areas.Calcification was seen in I case, and hemorrhagic foci were detected in 2 cases.(3)On MR scan, all SFTs showed intermediate signal intensity on T1 WI.Three tumors were slightly hyperintense and the other was hypointense on T2WI.All of them were rich of vascular signal voids.Three tumors, including 2 tumors with scattered long T1 and T2 signal and 1 tumor in the liver with hyperintense haemorrhage, displayed inhomogeneous mixed signal. One tumor in the orbit showed homogeneous signal.(4)On enhanced scan,9 tumors showed irregular enhancement with multiple circuitous vessels in the arterial phase, and continuous or progressive enhancement with patch non-enhanced areas in the venous phase.( 5 ) Histologically,SFTs were composed of juxtaposed hyper- and hypo-cellular spindle cells, dense collagenous stromas and numerous thin-walled blood vessels with a staghorn configuration. Conclusion The possibility of SFT should be considered when a single soft tissue mass with sharp border, inhomogeneous density is detected, especially with inhomogeneous enhancement maintaining in the venous phase.

Objective To observe the impact of diabetes and stress hyperglycemia on thrombolytic effect and short-term prognosis in patients with acute cerebral infarction. Methods A total of 127 patients with acute cerebral infarction (≤4. 5 h) who received thrombolytic therapy with alteplase at General Hospital of Beijing Military Command from January 2012 to August 2013 were enrolled retrospectively. They were divided into three groups:Diabetes group (n=35),stress hyperglycemia group (n=49),and normal glucose group (n=43) according to whether they had a history of diabetes, random glucose on admission, and oral glucose tolerance test at day 7. At 24 h after thrombolysis, the National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) scores, recanalization rate, and the modified Rankin Scale (mRS) scores at day 90 were compared between the 2 groups. Results Before thrombolysis, the NIHSS scores of the diabetic group, stress hyperglycemia group, and normal glucose group were 14. 2 ± 5. 1,12. 8 ± 5. 6,and 13. 0 ± 4. 6,respectively (P>0.05);at 24 h after thrombolysis, they were 14.7 ±6.0,11.9 ±4.9,and 8.0 ±2.9,respectively (P<0.05);compared with before thrombolysis, the NIHSS scores of the diabetes group and the stress hyperglycemia group had no significant change (P>0. 05);the NIHSS score of the normal glucose group was lower than before thrombolysis. There was significant difference (P <0. 05). After thrombolysis, the patients with good recanalization were 54. 3% (n=19),57. 1% (n=28),and 67. 4% (n=29),respectively in the three groups;the hemorrhagic conversion rate was 14. 3% (n=5),6. 1% (n=3),and 2. 3% (n=1),respectively. There were no significant differences. At day 90 after thrombolysis, the mRS scores in the 3 groups showed that the good prognosis rate of the normal glucose group was 72. 1% (n=31);it was significantly higher than 51. 0% (n=25) of the stress hyperglycemia group and 29. 6% (n=10) of the diabetes group. There were significant differences (P<0. 05,P<0. 01). There was also significant difference between the stress hyperglycemia group and the diabetes group. Conclusion Diabetes and stress hyperglycemia have varying degrees of adverse effects on the efficacy and prognosis of the thrombolytic therapy for acute cerebral infarction.

Objective To discuss how to practise and consummate to shoot and assess the portfilm for radiotherapy. Methods Double radiography technique was used to take a portfilm. The reference mark points (plumbum points) were added into the field at the first exposure and the cross lines drawn based on the plumbum point images were definited as the reference coordinate to the actual field. Then, the portfilm was compared and analyzed with the simulator planning film. Results The images of both plumbum points and block boundaries were distinct in the portfilm, but the resolution and contrast of the tissue structure image was inferior to the ordinary film from simulator. However, all different structures and positions could be identified in order to assess if the actual field coincided with the radiation planning. Conclusions Although the real-time property of the portfilm is inferior to the electric portal image device (EPID), the double radiography portfilm is feasible as an important quality control method in radiation therapy due to its lower price and easier performance. The design of reference points is the key point in this technique.

Objective To explore the effects of HMGCoA agents and ACE inhibitor on serum inflammatory markers in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS). Methods The 60 patients with ACS were randomly divided into two groups, one treated with lipid lowered by HMGCoA agents and the other treated with HMGCoA agents added with ACE inhibitor. After 4 months, serum levels of some inflammatory markers were measured by means of ELISA. Results Serum levels of certain inflammatory markers were significantly higher in the ACS group than in the control group and became significantly lower 4 months later in the follow-up group. There were no differences in all the inflammatory markers between the two groups receiving different therapies 4 months later. Conclusion Serum levels of some inflammatory markers may have certain diagnostic value for ACS and may reflect the stability of the disease. HMGCoA agents seem to have no effect on inflammatory responses in a short period.
