Aim To study the change of blood pressure in 1079 workers for fifteen years and the effect of anti-hypertension drugs therapy. Methods We investigated the blood pressure of 1079 workers who were enrolled in six organizations in the year 1983 and 1998 respectively. Results During the 15 years: (1)Mean value of blood pressure: systolic blood pressure increased 22 mmHg in man and 16.9 mmHg in women; diastolic blood pressure increased 9 mmHg in man and 12.7 mmHg in women (P<0.05);(2)The incidence of hypertension increased by 25.03% in man and 28.28% in women;(3)The prevalence rate of hypertension is 27.9 percent in people with initially normal blood pressure (1.86%/y) and 72.6 percent in initially broder line hypertension (4.84%/y);(4)The control rate of hypertension is 2.9 percent;(5)The incidence of stroke is highly related to hypertension (P<0.001);(6)46.6 percent patients had a regular drug therapy, mainly reserpini complex(25.2%);(7)Drug therapy has no obviously effect of the control of hypertension and the incidence of stroke. Conclusion Both the mean value of BP and the incidence of hypertension were increased with age. The control rate of hypertension was low and the drug therapy shows little advantage. We should do mach more works to popularize the knowledge of the prevention of hypertension. Improve people's self-prevention. Regular cheek should be given to the hypertension patients.

Objective To develop a new method to measure pleural effusion volume by ultrasound in critically ill patients. Methods Forty-six critically ill patients admitted to emergency ICU were involved. The height of effusion (H),area of effusion at the middle section (S), thickness of effusion at middle-back line (T1) and posterior axillary line (T2) were measured by ultrasound in supine position at the end of expiration. The measured volume of pleural effusion (Vc) was calculated by H×S,and the actual volume of drainage (V) within 2 hours was also recorded. The correlation of actual volume of pleural effusion (V)with effusion height (H) ,thickness (T1, T2), area (S) and the calculated volume (Vc) were analyzed to decide the most accurate index and method. Results There was much better correlation between actual volume of effusion and S, (H & S), Vc, than these between V and T1 ,T2, H in all patients and subgroup, Vc had good correlation with V and very close to V(the average difference was 56 ml) when the actual volume was less than 500 ml,there was no difference[(417 ± 94)ml vs (402±95)ml, t = 1.095, P = 0. 285]. Both Logistic regression analysis and receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve showed S was the most reliable index to predict the actual volume to exceed 500 ml,400 ml,and 300 ml when compared with H,S,T1 and T2. The corresponding threshold was 30.3 cm2 , 28.3 cm2 and 23. 1 cm2 , with the sensitivity and specificity of 0. 77 and 0. 88,0.72 and 1.0,0.95 and 1.0, respectively. Conclusions This new method based on measuring the area of effusion by ultrasound is more efficient and reliable than those traditional ones to measure the volume of pleural effusion. It's clinically valuable and easy to perform, and deserves broad application.

OBJECTIVE: To explore the effect of the traditional Chinese medicine Yifei Kangliu (YFKL) Oral Liquid on the proliferation, cell cycle and protein-nucleic acid synthesis of murine Lewis lung cancer cell and human lung adenocarcinoma cell line SPC-A-1. METHODS: The inhibiting rates of tumor growth were calculated by weighing the weight of tumor inoculated in vivo, combined by counting cancer cells in vitro. The ratio of the cell cycle and exponents of DNA, RNA, and protein were measured by flow cytometry (FCM). RESULTS: The inhibiting rate of tumor growth in the treated group with YFKL Oral Liquid was 30.38% (P<0.05). The proportion of cells in S phase of the treated groups with YFKL Oral Liquid was lower than that of the control group. In the group with most significant result, 72% of the cells were stagnated in G0/G1 phase. The inhibiting rates of DNA, RNA and protein in murine Lewis lung cancer were 7.4%, 23.73% and 23.31% respectively. In SPC-A-1 cell line, the inhibiting rates were 9.3%, 10.1% and 14.7% respectively, demonstrating amplified effects on lower levels. CONCLUSION: YFKL Oral Liquid significantly inhibited the proliferation of murine Lewis lung cancer cell and human lung adenocarcinoma cell line SPC-A-1 by blocking the cancer cells entering the proliferative phase resulted from its inhibition of DNA.

This research implements the "dual-element and three-step" education model based on the modern apprenticeship system for rural medical students, establishes a complete teacher management system through the joint enrollment of schools and teaching hospitals, and strengthens the professional cognition stage, professional learning stage and professional practice stage. It has certain effects on promoting students' good sense of professional identity and responsibility, enhancing learning initiative and professional vocational ability, and cultivating skilled and service-oriented medical talents with "six-in-one" post competences in rural areas.
