Chinese Traditional and Herbal Drugs 2016;47(2):297-300
Objective: To investigate the protective effects and mechanism of the extract from Cajanus cajan leaves (ECCL) against H2O2-induced oxidative injury in H9c2 cardiomyoblasts. Methods: A model of H2O2-induced injury in H9c2 cardiomyoblasts was established. Cell viability was determined colorimetrically by MTT assay. The supernates and cells were collected, respectively, after the different treatments for measuring the LDH, MDA, and SOD levels with the corresponding detection kit according to the manufacturer's instructions. Western blotting was performed to exam the expression of p-Akt and p-eNOS in H9c2 cells respectively. Results: Compared with H2O2 group, the cell viability was increased significantly in ECCL + H2O2 groups (P < 0.01). The activity of LDH in the culture medium was decreased significantly (P < 0.05). The content of MDA in the culture medium was decreased significantly (P < 0.05). The activity of SOD was increased significantly (P < 0.01). Treated with ECCL, the expressions of p-Akt and p-eNOS in H9c2 cells injured from H2O2 were increased significantly (P < 0.01), When LY294002 (inhibitor of PI3K) was added, the effects of ECCL were cancelled. Conclusion: ECCL protects H9c2 cells against H2O2-induced oxidative injury partly through PI3K signaling pathway.

Chinese Traditional and Herbal Drugs 2015;46(22):3382-3385
Objective: To investigate the protective effects of pigeonpea leaves on myocardial ischemia reperfusion injury in rats. Methods: A model of myocardial ischemia reperfusion was established by ligating the anterior descending coronary arteries. Rats were administrated with extract from pigeonpea leaves (125, 200, and 500 mg/kg) before ischemia, and the size of myocardial infarction, arrhythmia score, and morphological changes of cardiomyocytes were determined. Results: Compared with the model group, pigeonpea leaves could reduce arrhythmia severity and incidence (P<0.05 or 0.01) and the size of myocardial infarction (P<0.05). Pigeonpea leaves could ameliorate the pathological lesion. Conclusion: Pigeonpea leaves have the protective effects on myocardial ischemia reperfusion injury in rats.
3. Relationship between maternal PAHs exposure during pregnancy and neonatal neurobehavioral function
China Occupational Medicine 2017;44(06):689-694
OBJECTIVE: To explore the relationship between maternal polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons( PAHs) exposure during pregnancy and neonatal neurobehavioral development. METHODS: A total of 296 pairs of pregnant women and their newborns in hospital A in Changzhi City and hospital B in Taiyuan City were selected as research subjects by convenience sampling method. The air PAHs levels in these two hospitals were measured using high performance liquid chromatography( HPLC). The pregnant women were investigated by questionnaires. The levels of PAHs metabolites in prenatal 24-hour urine samples were measured as indicators of exposure using HPLC. The pregnant women were divided into PAHs low-,medium-and high-exposure groups based on the 25th and the 75th percentile levels. The neonatal birth weight, head circumference and birth length were measured, and the neonatal neurobehavioral development was measured by neonatal behavioral neurological assessment( NBNA). RESULTS: The median level of total PAHs metabolite in maternal urine was 0. 94 mg/mo L creatinine. The newborn total NBNA scores, behavioral abilities and active muscle tension scores in the PAHs high-exposure group were lower than that of PAHs low-and medium-exposure groups( P < 0. 05). The newborn total NBNA scores and active muscle tension scores in the PAHs medium-exposure group were lower than that of PAHs lowexposure group( P < 0. 05). There was no significant difference in scores of neonatal weight, head circumference, birth length, passive muscular tension, primary reflexes and general reaction among these three groups( P > 0. 05). The multiple stepwise linear regression analysis results showed that the level of PAHs metabolite in maternal urine were negatively correlated with the total NBNA scores, behavioral abilities score, active muscle tension scores and general reaction score( P < 0. 05),and showed no correlation with the neonatal birth weight, head circumference, passive muscular tension score, birth length and primary reflexes scores( P > 0. 05). CONCLUSION: The level of total PAHs metabolites in maternal prenatal urine is associated with neonatal neurobehavioral development. This result indicates that maternal PAHs exposure during pregnancy may have adverse effects on neonatal neurobehavioral development.

Chinese Journal of Gastroenterology 2023;28(5):316-320
Colorectal serrated lesions are a group of polyps/adenomas with serrated architecture, including hyperplastic polyp, sessile serrated lesion and sessile serrated lesion with dysplasia, traditional serrated adenoma, and unclassified serrated adenoma. Sessile serrated lesion and traditional serrated adenoma are precursors of serrated lesions progressing to colorectal cancer. Serrated lesions are characterized by genetic (BRAF or KRAS gene mutations) and epigenetic (CpG island methylator phenotype) alterations that synergistically drive colorectal mucosa to develop polyps or adenomas, and with malignant transformation into colorectal cancer. The complexity of serrated lesion makes it difficult to diagnose, easy to miss diagnosis and has a high malignant rate. This article reviewed the advances in research on colorectal serrated lesions from the aspects of endoscopic, pathological and molecular features.

Chinese Pharmacological Bulletin 2003;0(11):-
Aim To study the effect of S-methylisothiourea(SMT) on adriamy ci n (ADM) induced myocardial lipid peroxidation in rats. Methods T hirty-two Wistar rats were randomly divided into four groups: control group;SMT treated group ( SMT5.0 mg?kg -1,iv,only 1 time);ADM treated group (ADM 5.0 mg?kg -1, ip, only 1 time ); ADM with SMT treated group (the dos ageand method of ADM and SMT were similar to ADM treated group and SMT treated g roup, respectively).24 hour after of administration of the drugs, rats of all t he groups were killed.TBA method, DTNB method, nitrate reductase method, pyrogal lol autoxidation method and hemoglobin-oxidation method were used to determine the contents of lipid peroxide(LPO)and nitric oxide (NO), the activities of glut athione peroxidase (GPx) and superoxide dismutase (SOD) in myocardium, respectiv ely. The level of nitrotyrosine (NT) was determined by immunohistochemical metho d in myocardium. Results SMT significantly reduced the contents of LPO and NO, the activity of inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS), the level of NT in myocardium (P0.05).Conclusion SMT can inhibit myocardial lipid peroxidation induced by ADM. The mechanism may be that SMT can selective ly inhibited the activity of iNOS in myocardium induced by ADM, reduce productio n of NO in myocardium, thereby reduce production of peroxynitrite and protect the activities of SOD and GPx in myocardium.

Journal of Experimental Hematology 2021;29(2):535-539
OBJECTIVE:
To assess the impact of early relapse (ER) after autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplan-tation (AHSCT) on overall survival (OS) for multiple myeloma (MM) patients.
METHODS:
Clinical data of 37 patients with MM undergoing AHSCT in department of hematology of Shanxi Bethune Hospital from January 2012 to December 2017 were retrospectively analyzed. The effect of ER on OS of patients was analyzed. The effects of international staging system (ISS) staging, cytogenetics, pre-transplant efficacy, minimal residual disease, and age on OS of the patients were also analyzed respectively.
RESULTS:
Among the 37 patients, 13 cases (35.1%) had ER, and 24 cases (64.9%) had non-ER. 3 patients with ER had extramedullary disease, but none with non-ER showed extramedullary disease. More than or equal to very good partial rate (VGPR) in patients with ER and without ER were 3 cases (23.1%) and 15 cases (62.5%), respectively, and the curative effect of the former was significantly lower than that of the latter (P<0.05). The median follow-up time was 31 (12-96) months, and median OS time was 93 months in all the patients. The median survival time of patients with ER was 17 months, and the median progression free survival was 7 months, both were significantly shorter than 93 months and 38 months of patients with non-ER (P<0.05). Univariate analysis showed that the OS was affected by ER, cytogenetic abnormalities (FISH), and ≥VGPR before transplantation. Multivariate analysis showed that ER was an independent prognostic factor.
CONCLUSION
The prognosis of patients with ER after AHSCT in newly diagnosed MM is poor. ER is an independent prognostic factor of survival.
