Journal of Third Military Medical University 2003;0(13):-
Objective To analyze the disease burden of Yi nationality. Methods Disability adjusted life years(DALY) was used as the measurement indicator of disease burden. Results The male had greater Years of Life Lost to Premature Death(YLL)per thousand populations,Years of Lived with Disability(YLD) and DALY than did the female almost in each age group. The burden of Neuropsychiatric conditions was the heaviest. The burden of Yi nationality was heavier than Han nationality in diseases during perinatal period and digestive diseases. However, the disease burden of malignant neoplasm of Han nationality was heavier than Yi nationality. Conclusion The prevention and treatment of neuropsychiatric conditions, diseases during perinatal period and digestive diseases should be enhanced in Yi nationality.

Objective To explore the burden of diseases among senior people in Shiyan city population by epidemiologic investigation, and to find out the main diseases that threaten their health,so as to provide scientific guide for priority allocation of health resources. Methods Disabilityadjusted life years(DALY) were calculated using the death monitoring statistics of Shiyan during 2007-2009.Results There were 16.11% of people above 60 years old in Shiyan city, the average mortality and DALY were 20.9% and 299.5/1000 respectively.Noncommunicable diseases were the main cause of death (89.7%).In the causes of death and burden of disease, cardiovascular diseases (47.7%,105.6/1000),malignant neoplasms (28.2%,66.6/1000),respiratory diseases (7.2%,15.5/1000) were the top three. In addition to nutritional deficiencies, diabetes and genitourinary diseases,DALY caused by other 14 kinds of diseases of male were higher than those of female, and DALY caused by nutritional deficiency was the third cause in female. Conclusions DALY caused by disease among senior people is lower in Shiyan city population than in the national average.Noncommunicable diseases are the foremost disease among senior people, and special attention should be paid to cardiovascular disease and malignant tumor.Gender distribution characteristics should be concerned to prevent and control the disease in the elderly.

Surface transcutaneous electric nerve stimulation(TENS) was applied to treat the spasiticity resulting from spinal cord injury(SCI) in the acupoints of the subjects with SCI in order to oberve thetranscient and long-term effect of the treatment Fand its mechanism will be discussed in this paper. The results show that: 1 )more significant effect in relieving the spasiticiy was got by stimulating in high frequencyfor 30minutes,while less effect in low frequency(2Hz) ; 2)the effect in high frequency was partially ostracized by naloxone; 3)the effect in high frequency lasted for a long time i 4)compared with lumbar and sacralstimulation, the acupoint stimulation lasted for the longest time. This study also gets a hypothesis that highfrequency TENS in acupoints improves dynorphin in CSF to release and significantly relieve the spasiticityby kappa opioid receptor which decreases the excitment of anterior motor neuron.

Pentaxin 3 (PTX3), as a multifunctional glycoprotein, plays an important role in regulating inflammatory response, promoting tissue repair, inducing ectopic calcification and maintaining bone homeostasis. The effect of PTX3 on bone mineral density (BMD) may be affected by many factors. In PTX3 knockout mice and osteoporosis (OP) patients, the deletion of PTX3 will lead to decrease of BMD. In Korean community "Dong-gu study", it was found that plasma PTX3 was negatively correlated with BMD of femoral neck in male elderly patients. In terms of bone related cells, PTX3 plays an important role in maintaining the phenotype and function of osteoblasts (OB) in OP state;for osteoclast (OC), PTX3 in inflammatory state could stimulate nuclear factor κ receptor activator of nuclear factor-κB ligand (RANKL) production and its combination with TNF-stimulated gene 6(TSG-6) could improve activity of osteoclasts and promote bone resorption;for mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), PTX3 could promote osteogenic differentiation of MSCs through PI3K/Akt signaling pathway. In recent years, the role of PTX3 as a new bone metabolism regulator in OP and fracture healing has been gradually concerned by scholars. In OP patients, PTX3 regulates bone mass mainly by promoting bone regeneration. In the process of fracture healing, PTX3 promotes fracture healing by coordinating bone regeneration and bone resorption to maintain bone homeostasis. In view of the above biological characteristics, PTX3 is expected to become a new target for the diagnosis and treatment of OP and other age-related bone diseases and fracture healing.

Objective To establish theoretical framework, content, and standard of disability data using International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF). Methods The structure and content of the Disability Survey Project Form by Washington Group on Disability Statistics, World Health Organization Disability Assessment Schedule 2.0, Model Disability Survey developed by World Health Organization and ICF Core Set (General) were analyzed with ICF categories and coding. Results The sturcture and contents of disability measurements has been developed and analysed using ICF.Conclusion The framework, content and data standard had been developed.
