2.The serum viscosity in Vietnam people
Pharmaceutical Journal 2002;318(10):56-58
The evaluation of serum viscosity contributes to the diagnosis of some hematopathology, cardiopathology. A study on 303 healthy persons with ages of 18-81 in Hanoi was carried out to determine the Vietnamese serum viscosity. The results have shown that the serum viscosity found in the normal people was 9.180.47 (1.52-2.45). There is no significant different of the serum viscosity between men and women. The serum viscosity is gradually increased as increased age.

3.Production of serum against neurotoxin alpha from NAJA KAOUTHIA.
Journal of Preventive Medicine 2002;12(1):17-23
Lethal component of the Naja kaouthia venom had been purified and used as antigen for producing antiserum according to an immunization protocol aiming to be efficient in the production of high affinity antibodies. A strong response was observed on all six immunized horses and tolerance to the antigen did not occur. All antitoxin sera obtained protected against lethality due to the entire venom. The potential production of these six horses is estimated to 4,300 doses/year compared to the estimated national need of 4,800 doses/year for a population of 80 millions.

4.Serum T3, FT4, TSH concentration in residents exposed to dacam/dioxin
Journal of Medical Research 2005;36(3):5-11
Orange agent/Dioxin is very toxic chemical. It has still exist and harmful affected on persons living in many areas of South VietNam since America chemical war. This study is aimed to evaluate the effects of Dioxin residue on changes of serum FT 4, T3, TSH in 318 persons exposed to the toxic. RIA and IMA assays were used to measure serum concentrations of the hormones. The results of the hormones from persons exposed to Dioxin were: 1. Serum concentration of FT4 is 9 to 25 pmol/L and significant lower in comparison with those of control group living in Hanoi. Serum concentration of T3 is 1 to 3 nmol/L and not significant lower in comparison with those of control group living in Hanoi. Serum concentration of TSH is 0,25 - 5 mUlL and not significant higher in comparison with those of control group living in Hanoi. 2. There are significant differences in serum FT4, T3. TSH concentrations between communes sprayed Dioxin in the war. 3. Abnomal ratios of serum FT4, T3, TSH concentrations of persons exposed to Orange agent/Dioxin are higher than those of control persons living in Hanoi.

5.Study on changes in serum lipid components in patients with primary hypertension
Journal of Practical Medicine 2004;483(7):24-27
59 patients diagnosed to be hypertention and the control group with 39 subjects without hypertention treated in Thai Nguyen Hospital from 10/4/2002 - 10/4/2003. The results follows: 66.1% of patients with primary hypertention have disorders of lipid index as compared to a control group. 39.0% of these patients have an increase in total cholesterol and these levels in a case group higher than those in a control group. 27.15% of these patients have an increase in serum triglycerid levels and these levels in a case group higher than those in a control group. 61.0% of these patients have a decrease in serum HDL-C levels and these levels in a case group higher than those in a control group. CT/HDL-C ratio in a case group is 5.25 and in a control is 3.70. They are in upper limit of normal value.

6.Primarily results of quantification of serum phenytoin in patients with epilepsy
Journal of Practical Medicine 2002;435(11):38-40
This study was carried out on 36 blood samples of epileptic patients, between the ages of 6 and 15, in Army Hospital 103 during 9/2000 - 6/2001, who used a monotherapy - phenytoin. The results of quantitative analysis of serum concentration of drug in the treatment range, under the treatment range and above the treatment range among patients with disease free was 72.41%, 13.78% and 13.8%. 80% of patients used phenytorin at dose of 5-8mg/kg/day had a serum concentration in the treatment range. The dose of phenytoin can be increased increasingly in cases without responding to the treatment while the drug concentration closely reached the treatment range until the defects found.

7.Serum fatty acids composition of inhabitants in some districts of Ha Noi and HCM city.
Journal of Preventive Medicine 2002;12(1):41-47
The population under study was selected from Cua Dong, Thanh Luong precinct and Yen So commune (Ha Noi city) and Ben Thanh, Nha Be and Can Gio (Ho Chi Minh city); with the total of 594 subjects (200 from rural areas, 196 from suburbs and 198 persons from urban areas). The results: the total value of serum fatty acid varied from 2719 +/- 935 to 4174 +/- 1421 g/ml: out of which the lowest values were observed in rural population and the highest ones were among HaNoi inhabitants. It was also found that in both surveyed areas, the percentage of monounsaturated fatty acid was remarkably higher in rural areas. However, inversely the percentage of polyunsaturated fatty acid was higher among urban population.

9.Study on serum estradiol, FSH, LH concentration of menopausal women in Hanoi city
Journal of Medical Research 1999;9(1):13-20
The study was carried out in Hoankiem and Socson district in Hanoi city. In each area, 160 women were selected and divided in to 4 groups: the menopause of 5 years, >5-10 years, >10 years and groups of 25-39 year old. Vein blood were taken for the measurement of serum estradiol, FSH, LH concentration. The results showed that: Serum estradiol concentration significantly decreased in postmenopausal women compared with women at reproductive age and no difference between the menopausal groups. These values in Hoankiem women were higher than that in Socson women, specially with the menopause of 5 years. Serum FSH and LH concentration significantly increased in the menopausal period. While FSH concentration did not change during menopause time, LH concentration showed a tendency to decrease. Serum FSH concentration in the Hoankiem women was higher than this in Socson ones whereas serum concentration was lower

10.Serum total and free PSA among healthy men and men with prostatic neoplasm
Journal of Vietnamese Medicine 2001;263(9):132-137
Total PSA (tPSA) and PSA (fPSA) in serum were determined by MEIA performed on IMX systems of ABBOTT (America). t PSA of 80 healthy men, ages fro 40 to 80, and fPSA of 17 among them were measured. 222 patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) (Diagnosed by clinical and ultrasonography examinations), and 32 patients with prostatic examination) were determined for tPSA. Among them, 51 of BPH and 11 of PC patients were determined both tPSA and fPSA. Here are our findings: The normal values of serum tPSA is increasing with age (p<0.05), normal range of tPSA concentration is from 0 to approximately 6 ng/ml. The mean ratio of fPSA/tPSA is 0.27 (0.08. 45.4% of patients in the BPH group level and 33% of patients with ratio of fPSA/tPSA less than 0.19. The increased serum tPSA level and the fPSA/tPSA ratio below, 019 are observed in 100% patients of PC group.
