As both the neurometer and the electrodermometer are instruments which are designed to find the idiosyncracies of pathological reflexes on the surface of the body using special electrical sknpoint on the surface of the body as a reference, both give a certain amount of voltage and read the amount of the value of the electrical current and according to the largeness or smallness of that value measure the so-called electrical resistance. The substance of these readings are however by no means the same.
In other words, whereas the neurometer measures the resistance in real number parts of the peripheral impedance, the electrodermometer measures the complete impedance including imaginary number parts.
Therefore as physical information on the periphery of the body measured by the two instruments is different, the physiological and pathological meanings which are obtained from these readings are not the same and it must be assumed that the two have independent diagnostic characteristics.
In order to verify this using both instruments we took readings of the electrical current at the same 12 points. Results of examination of the relationship between the 2 sets of readings revealed that the level of correlation was extremely low and that there was almost no relation between the numerical values of the two.
These facts indicate, as we assumed theoretically, that the physiological-pathological characteristics of the special peripheral points which both instruments use as a reference are not identical. It can be stated that they have their own independent substance.
From the above research experience then it can be theoretically stated that in the future, in measuring the impedance on the body's surface, except when using the neurometer, it is necessary to limit as much as possible the contribution of the R factors, to limit study of the pure impedance factors and pathological factors to the electrostatic polarization of the special points on the surface of the body.

We investigated to determine the therapeutic effects of acupuncture for approximately 30 infantile asthma patients using oscilloscopic analysis of breath sounds. For the oscilloscopic analysis of the inspiratiom sounds the weak electric courrent which was repeated in the examined sound element was amplified and recorded using a pen oscillograph manufactured by Sanei Sokki. Based on this wave pattern we determined the effect of acupuncture therapy. The method can reproduce and record the breath sounds and other related sounds which arise from the characteristic expiratory dyspnea associated with bronchial asthma.
The treatment method we attempted consisted of first performing classical diagnosis according to Kono's muscle diagnosis methods to determine the affected meridian. Mother-son (tonifying and sedating) points were then selected according to the affected meridian and depending on the deficiency or excess a magnetic pole of about 500 gauss fixed in place. The determination of therapeutic effects was based on a comparison of pre-post treatment respiration sound oscillograms and judged according to the improvement in the brearth sound picture or a general evaluation of conditions according to observation.
Generally in allergic type asthma patients an autonomic nerve disorder is indicated in most cases. In particular the characteristic contractions of the bronchial muscles often come from an abnormal condition of the parasympathetic nerves.
This method of breath sound analysis can be considered a positive measure in distinguishing the effectiveness of acupuncture insertion in asthma therapy.

One of the authors, Hayazaki, based on results of observation of the relationship between the electrical conductivity measurements of the 12 Ryodoraku diagnosis points and the simultaneous measurement of the electrical conductivity of the 6 point areas of pulse diagnosis in a large number of patients wondered if there wasn't some sort of relationship between the two. Mr. Nakatani has already reported concerning the electrical conductivity of the 6 pulse points at the monthly meeting at Kyoto University and also from a different point of view Mr. Fujita conducted an inquiry into this matter, however, neither one touches on the correlation between the electrical conductivity of the 6 pulse points and the electrical conductivity of the 12 Ryodoraku diagnosis points. We examined the correlation of the electrical conductivity of the representative measuring points of the 12 Ryodoraku lines and the 6 pulse points and also the correlation between the right and left pulse points using 40 patients who came to this clinic (100 examples for the right and left pulse points) as subjects. A self recording neurometer was used, to make the measurements. The correlation of both was examined at a total of 30 points on both sides of the body.
The results showed that concerning the relationship between the individual 6 pulse points and the 12 Ryodoraku points that in general a relatively high correlation was indicated in most cases. Listing the cases in which the correlation coefficient was 0.7 or greater we have: right 1st pulse position to H₃, right 2nd pulse position to H₁, H₂, H₆, F₂, and F₅, right 3rd pulse position to H₆ and F₂, left 2nd pulse position to H₅, H₆, and F₄. Left 3rd position to H₅. Concerning the correlation between the right and left pulse points, in general the correlation was greater than that with the 12 Ryodoraku points and was especially strong between points in the same positions, moreover, it was observed that there was a tendency for the value of the coeffecient to decrease in the following order, 1st position, 2nd position, 3rd position.
