Objective To analyze the genotype of varicella-zoster virus (VZV) strains isolated from patients with chickenpox or zoster and to differentiate them from Oka vaccine strain by molecular analysis. Methods In the present study, single nucleotide polymorphisms(SNP) based VZV genotypes were analyzed in 19 VZV isolates using the polymerase chain reaction and restriction fragment length polymorphisms analysis of DNA fragments of the open reading frames 38, 54, 62, and the 1t5 repeat region. Results The genotypes of 19 VZV isolates including two different groups with 52.7% of Pst Ⅰ+ Bgl Ⅰ+ R5A and 47.3% of Pst Ⅰ+ Bgl Ⅰ+ R5B, which is very different from those found in North America, Europe and Japan. All the Chinese isolates are wild-type strains with ORF62 Sma Ⅰ-. No Oka vaccine strains were revealed among the isolates. Conclusion Chinese VZV strains reported in this study showed different molecular characteristics from those circulating in Europe, North America and Japan. The SNPs in ORF62 and ORF38 may be used to distinguish VZV wild-type strains and vaccine strain in clinical isolates in China.

Enzymatic hydrolysis of nitrile was performed under mild conditions and afford high efficiency and selectivity,thus being highly potential for the synthesis of optically active carboxylic acids and their derivatives.The type of nitrile-hydrolyzing enzymes and hydrolysis reactions,reaction characteristics,factors influencing the hydrolysis and the prospect for its application to industrial production were reviewed in this paper.

objective:To investigate the relationship between magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) metabolism and Ki-67 expres-sion in high-(HGG) and low-grade gliomas (LGG) by analyzing Ki-67 expression and HGG and LGG metabolites. Methods:We consid-ered 56 pathologically confirmed glioma cases in our hospital. The Ki-67 expression and the MRS metabolism parameters in the tu-mors were analyzed simultaneously. Results:The tumor solid value of Cho was positively correlated with the Ki-67 expression level (rs=0.714, P<0.05). By contrast, the Ki-67 expression level was negatively correlated with the tumor solid value of NAA (rs=?0.708, P<0.05) in 35 cases of the LGG group. The tumor solid value of Cho was also positively correlated with the Ki-67 expression level (rs=0.624, P<0.05). By comparison, the Ki-67 expression level was negatively correlated with the tumor solid value of NAA in the HGG group (rs=?0.769, P<0.05). Conclusion:The MRS metabolism was correlated with the Ki-67 expression in high-and low-grade gliomas.

A new modification method for glass slides was developed and applied to make ThinPrep Pap smears,in order to increase the adhesion ability of cervical exfoliative cells.3-glycidyloxypropyl trimethoxysilane (GOPS) was coated on the glass slides firstly on the slides,then poly-L-lysine (PLL)was covalently modified onto the above epoxy-terminated slides to form GOPS-PLL double decorated slides.The modified slides were characterized using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and atomic force microscopy (AFM).The cell adhesion ability effect was tested and compared with traditional PLL coated slides by fixing the cervical exfoliative cells on the double adorned slides.The control test was conducted by the bare glass slides unmodified.The cell morphology of cervical exfoliative cells adhered on different slides was observed under the microscope after Papanicolaou staining.The number of cervical exfoliative cells on the unmodified slides,PLL coated slides and GOPS-PLL coated slides was 1030±300,3283±226 and 4119±280 (n=12),respectively.The data among the three different modification methods showed significant differences (one-way analysis of variance,ANOVA test,P＜ 0.05).The cell capturing effect of the GOPS-PLL slide was the best among the three different modified slides.In addition,the GOPS-PLL slide could enhance the uniformity of the adhered cells and be widely applied to the ThinPrep system for cervical carcinoma screening to increase the accuracy rate of diagnosis.

Objective To study the HRCT features of pneumatized inferior turbinate and to evaluate their diagnostic value.Methods Twelve cases of pneumatized inferior turbinates demonstrated by HRCT were retrospectively analyzed.Results Coronal HRCT could demonstrate pneumatization of the inferior turbinate clearly and directly.Unilateral pneumatization was found in 11 cases and bilateral in one case. According to the location of pneumatization,pneumatized inferior turbinates were classified into three types : bulbous,lamellar,and extensive types.Five of 12 cases were bulbous,5 were lamellar and 2 were extensive type.On coronal HRCT scans,bulbous type showed nodular shape in one case,oval and ellipse shape in 2 cases each,respectively.Lamellar pneumatization appeared as curved stripe-like shape in 4 cases communicating with the maxillary sinus and ellipse shape in one case.Extensive type was found in 2 cases, curled lamella-like shape was found in 1 case communicating with the maxillary sinus and ellipse shape in another case.In 5 cases with maxillary sinus communication,axial HRCT revealed a defect on the medial wall of the maxillary sinus.In such a condition,the maxillary process of palatine bone and maxillary bone attached to the lower turbinate separately.Conclusion HRCT was an optimal imaging modality for the diagnosis of pneumatization of the inferior turbinate and may help the clinicians to differentiate from other causes of the inferior turbinate hypertrophy.

Objective To study the CT and MRI findings of osteosarcoma in paranasal sinus and evaluate their clinical value.Methods All 9 cases of osteosarcoma were verified by histopathology.Imaging data were analyzed retrospectively.Results The lesion occurred in maxillary sinus in 5 cases,in ethmoid sinus in 3 cases and in sphenoid sinus in one case.Primary osteosarcoma was found in 7 cases.Secondary osteosarcoma occurred from fibrous dysplasia and ossifying fibroma each in one case.On CT,the involved areas revealed bony destruction associated with ill-defined and irregular soft tissue mass.The lesion showed heterogeneous density with minimal or massive tumor bone formation,cloud-like in 3 cases,ivory-like in 2 cases,spicule-like in 2 cases,cloud- and spicule -like in one case and spicule- and ivory-like in one case.Postcontrast CT showed mild to moderate inhomogeneous enhancement in 3 cases.On MR T_1 WI,the lesions showed hypointensity compared to brain in 5 cases and iso-intensity in 2 cases.On T_2WI,the lesions showed heterogeneous hyperintensity in 4 cases and isointensity in 3 cases with marked hypointense foci which corresponded to tumor bone on CT.Postcontrast MR imaging demonstrated moderate to marked inhomogeneous enhancement in these cases.MRI showed accurately the extent and associated changes of the lesions.The lesions invaded the orbit,pterygopalatine and infratemporal fossae,skull base and extensive craniofacial structures in 5,4,3 cases and 1 case,respectively.Conclusion CT is the optimal modality in showing tumor bone of osteosareoma in paranasal sinus.MRI can demonstrate optimally the invading extent of the lesions.Combined imaging modalities can provide more comprehensive information for diagnosis and therapy of osteosarcoma in paranasal sinus.

Objective To investigate the CT and MRI findings of cavernous hemangioma in paranasal sinus so as to promote the diagnostic accuracy.Methods All 30 cases of cavernous hemangioma in paranasal sinus were verified with pathological examinations.The CT and MRI findings were analyzed retrospectively.Results The lesions occurred in the maxillary sinus in 25 cases,in the anterior ethmoid sinus in 3 cases and in the sphenoid sinus in 2 cases.The lesions extended and compressed adjacent structures.MRI showed the extent and the associated changes of the lesions more clearly compared to CT. On CT,all the involved paranasal sinuses invariably expanded.The bony walls of paranasal sinuses were compressed and remodeled with focal defect in 28 cases,mostly in the medial wall of the maxillary sinus (21 cases).Bony scelerosis of the residual walls of paranasal sinus were found in 8 cases.The lesions demonstrated well-defined margin and heterogeneous density with phlebolith in 10 cases.Postcontrast CT showed marked inhomogeneous enhancement in 16 cases.On MR T_1WI,canernous hemangioma showed hypointense signal compared to brain in 4 cases and isointense signal in 14 cases.On T_2WI,the lesions revealed heterogeneous hyperintense singal in 16 cases and isointense signal in 2 cases with multiple hypointense foci.Postcontrast MR imaging demonstrated marked inhomogeneous enhancement in these cases,honeycomb-like appearance in 8 cases and variegated appearance in 10 cases.The feature of progressive enhancement was found on dynamic contrast enhancement of MRI in 8 cases.Conclusions The characteristic bony change together with phlebolith can suggest the diagnosis of cavernous hemangioma in paranasal sinus on CT.The heterogeneous hyperintense singal on MR T_2WI,progressive enhancement and honeycomb-like or variegated appearance on postcontrast MRI were also the characteristic findings of cavernous hemangioma in paranasal sinus.Combination of CT and MRI findings can provide more accurate information for the diagnosis and therapy of cavernous hemangioma in paranasal sinus.

【Objective】Through summarizing the clinical manifestations and gene mutations of 5 types of RASopathies in childhood including Neurofibromatosis type1（NF1），Noonan syndrome（NS），Noonan syndrome with multiple lentigines（NSML），Costello syndrome（CS）and cardio-facio-cutaneous syndrome（CFC）and analyzing their commonalities and characteristics，to deepen the clinician′s understanding of the RASopathies and improve the domestic doctors′ diagnosis and treatment level of RASopathies.【Methods】The clinical data and gene mutation types of 11 patients of RASopathies who were diagnosed in Sun Yat- Sen Memorial Hospital from January 2015 to May 2018 were retrospectively analyzed. 【Results】The age of onset ranged from 6 months to 12 years and the main clinical manifestations of 11 patients included： short stature，craniofacial features，congenital heart defect，café-au-lait macules，developmental delay，thrombocytopenia， seizures and dystonia，cryptorchidism，etc. Five gene mutations were detected including NF1 gene，PTPN11 gene， RAF1 gene ，BRAF gene and HRAS gene.【Conclusions】The RASopathies are a clinically defined group of medical genetic syndromes caused by germline mutations in genes that encode components or regulators of the Ras/MAPK pathway. The RAS/MAPK pathway plays an important role in regulating growth development，promoting cell proliferation，differentiation，metabolism，and signal transduction of various hormones. Therefore，they share many overlapping characteristics，including craniofacial features，growth retardation，cardiac malformations，cutaneous and musculoskeletal abnormalities，neurocognitive impairment and tumor susceptibility. However ，each RASopathy exhibits different degree phenotypes because of mutations at different points in the pathway. In addition ，tumor susceptibility is one of the typical clinical features of RASopathies. Therefore，tumor monitoring is one of the most important contents in the follow-up process.

【Objective】 To explore the differences of clinical medicine ，magnetic resonance imaging（MRI）and pathology in multifocal and multicentric breast cancer（MMBC）and unifocal breast cancer（UBC）. 【Methods】 In this retrospective analysis，55 MMBC and 68 UBC patients with pathology confirmed from April 2016 to February 2018 were enrolled，and the characteristics and difference of routine pathological types，molecular subtypes and MR enhancement types were compared. The relationships between MMBC ，UBC and the methods of clinical treatment were studied by correspondence analysis（CA）.【Results】Significant difference was observed between routine pathological types of MMBC and UBC（P < 0.001）. The high grade invasive ductal carcinoma was more frequent in maximal lesions of MMBC than in UBC lesions，whereas there was no statistical correlation between molecular subtypes，molecular subtypes and MR enhancement types（P = 0.265，P = 0.152）. However，there was statistical difference in masses enhancement（P = 0.013）. CA showed that the molecular subtypes of MMBC and UBC were the key factors for clinical treatment. In addition ，HER- 2（+）and Luminal B type breast cancer showed high correlation with treatment method，while triple-negative showed low correlation with treatment method.【Conclusions】The pathology types of the maximal lesions of MMBC were less aggressive than UBC lesions. There was significant correlation between clinical treatment and molecular subtypes of MMBC and UBC. Therefore，individualized treatments are recommended on the basis of biological characteristics in both MMBC and UBC.

OBJECTIVETo explore a better operative approach to resect complicated pelvic retroperitoneal tumors.

METHODSA total of 28 patients with complicated pelvic retroperitoneal tumors who received surgical resection in our hospital from 2006 to 2010 were included in this study. The surgical operation was assisted with an arc-shaped transperineal incision in front of the apex of coccyx. The operation time, intraoperative blood loss, death toll and length of hospital stay of the patients were retrospectively analyzed.

RESULTSThe median operation time was 122.5 minutes. The median blood loss was 420 ml, and the median length of hospital stay of the patients was 17.5 days. There was no postoperative death in this group of patients.

CONCLUSIONWith the assistance of this arc-shaped transperineal incision in front of the apex of coccyx, the resection of pelvic retroperitoneal tumors can be effectively improved and the surgery risk is reduced.
