Objective To study the compatibility of TCM prescriptions of TCM practitioners of all dynasties of Alzheimer disease (AD). Methods Amnesia, forgetting, dementia, and idiot were set as search words to retrieve relevant literature in Encyclopadia of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Prescription information was screened and standardized to build database. Frequency analysis and association rules were used to mine TCM prescriptions and compatibility rules. Results Totally 449 AD related prescriptions were selected, involving 682 Chinese medicinal herbs. The individual herb with the highest frequency was Ginseng Radix Rhizoma (192);the herbal pair with the highest frequency was Ginseng Radix Rhizoma-Polyhalae Radix (182);the herbal combination with 3 Chinese medicinal herbs with the highest frequency was Poria with Hostwood-Ginseng Radix Rhizoma-Polyhalae Radix (79);the herbal combination with 4 Chinese medicinal herbs with the highest frequency was Polyhalae Radix-Ginseng Radix Rhizoma-Poria with Hostwood-Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (37). The results of association rules showed that Ginseng Radix Rhizoma-Polyhalae Radix, Ginseng Radix Rhizoma-Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, and Ginseng Radix Rhizoma-Poria with Hostwood were commonly used compatibilities in AD related prescriptions. Conclusion Treatment of TCM practitioners in all dynasties for AD mainly chooses Chinese medicinal herbs with the efficacy of tonifying qi and soothing nerves. The compatibilities and combinations are reasonable and with certain representativeness.

Objective To investigate the effect of auxiliary heterotopic partial liver transplantation in treating acute ischemic liver failure. Methods Auxiliary heterotopic partial liver transplantation was performed on pigs. The pigs were divided into two groups.Group I: The host′ liver was preserved in situ, liver artery was ligated, portal vein was constricted, and donor patial right liver was transplanted under the right lobe of the liver of the host.Portal venous blood supply was constructed only, and arterial blood supply was not constructed .Group B:Except both arterial blood supply and portal venous blood supply of the donor liver were constructed, and the other operative procedures were as the same as in Group A. The living condition, liver function, blood supply, pathology and bile secretion of the donor liver were observed. Results The survival rates in Group B before and after operation were higher than that in Group A .Serum bilirubin(SB) after the operation was higher than that before the operation in Group A, but showed no change in Group B.After the operation, SB in Group A was higher than that in Group B. In Group A, the donor liver didn't secret bile, and hepatocytes were necrosis. In Group B, the bile secretion and blood supply of donor liver were good, and hepatocyte of the donor liver were alive and proliferating actively. The hosts' liver was necrosis obviously in both groups. Conclusions Hosts' liver artery ligation and portal vein constriction can result in acute ischemic liver failure.Auxiliary heterotopic partial liver transplantation is effective in correcting liver failure. The good arterial blood supply must be constructed in the donor liver to get good donor liver quality.

BACKGROUND:Calcium phosphate cement and recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein-2 both have bone osteoinductivity. Maybe both of them could promote repair of tendon-to-bone interface damage. OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the effect of calcium phosphate cement-II containing recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein-2 on tendon-to-bone interface healing after rotator cuff injury . METHODS: Twenty-seven adult healthy rabbits were enroled in the study. The tendon-to-bone interface of the bilateral shoulder joints was taken from three rabbits as normal group, and the bilateral shoulder joints of the other 24 rabbits were subjected to acute rupture of the rotator cuff and tendon-to-bone reconstructive surgery as experimental group (n=12) and control group (n=12). Rabbits in the experimental group were treated with calcium phosphate cement-II, while those in the control group treated with nothing. Specimens were colected at 2, 4, 8 postoperative weeks for biomechanical test. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:The maximum tensile strength of the rotator cuff in the experimental group was higher than that in the control group (P < 0.001), but lower than that in the normal group (P < 0.001). At postoperative 8 weeks, the rigidity of rotator cuff of the experiment group was higher than the control group (P < 0.001) but lower than the normal group (P < 0.001). These findings indicate that calcium phosphate cement-II can improve the maximum tensile strength and rigidity of rabbit tendon-to-bone interface in the early postoperative period, enhance tendon-to-bone interface binding force, and promote tendon-to-bone interface healing.

Acta Anatomica Sinica 1954;0(02):-
The secretion and localization of epididymal specific proteins ESP-1, ESP-2 were systematically studied by the PAGE-western blot and ABC immunocytochemical technique in the epididymis of the rabbit. The results indicated that ESP-1 and ESP-2 represented the rabbit epididymal specific proteins of 42 kd and 20 kd, respectively. They were immunoeytochemically negative in the testis, heart, liver, spleen, lung, kidney and skeletal muscle of the rabbit as well as testis and epididymis of the rat. However, in the rabbit epididymis, except the initial segment ESP-1 and ESP-2 were started to be positive from caput segment. The ESP-1 was displyed in the supranuclear area of the principle cells, while the ESP-2 was distributed evenly in the whole cytoplasm of it. Subsequently, the most heavy positive reaction was demonstrated in the corpus epididymis and the proximal segment of cauda. In contrast of the caput, the stereocilia of principle cells and lumen sperms of the cauda epididymis were positive also. However, in the distal segment of cauda the positive reaction in cytoplasm of principle cells was gradually decreased and became disappeared completely soon, while the stereocilia of it still remained heavy positive even in that of vas deferens. The epithelium of prostate gland and seminal vesicle were negative. These results indicated that both ESP-1 and ESP-2 were secretory proteins produced mainly in the principle cells of the corpus epididymis. After releasing into the lumen, they took part of epididymal fluid and might bind on the sperm to regulate sperm maturation. The possible physiological significance of ESP-1 and ESP-2 was discussed.
