Objective To study the diagnostic value of susceptibility weighted imaging (SWI) in diffuse axonal injury (DAI) and investigate the relationship between SWI and clinical prognosis. MethodsTwenty patients (15 males and 5 females) with DAI were included in this study. Routine sequences (T1WI, T2WI and FLAIR) and SWI were performed on a 3.0 T MRI scanner. There were 8 cases whose Glasgow score scale (GCS) ranged from 3.0 to 5.0, 4 cases from 6.0 to 8.0 and 8 from 9.0 to 12.0. The interval time between injury and examination were from 3 hours to 20 days. The number and volume of lesions observed on SWI and routine sequence were compared using Mann-Whitney U-test and paired t-test. Pearson correlation was used to analyze the relationship between the number and volume of all lesions and GCS. Results The lesions showed punctate, beaded, patchy and cord-like hypointense signal with various size on SWI (lesion diameter <2.0 cm). Distribution of lesions was multifocal with clear boundary. Routine MRI scan found a total of 78 lesions, while SWI sequence detected 424 lesions. The number of the lesions found on SWI was more than that on conventional MRI (U=-15.447,P＜0.01). The total volume of the lesions measured on routine MRI and SWI were 19 340 mm3 and 38 042 mm3, respectively. The total volume measured on SWI was more than that on routine MR (t=5.870,P＜0.01). The number and volume of all lesions were negatively correlated with GCS (r=-0.802, -0.767, P＜0.01). Conclusion SWI sequence could find more bleeding lesions than the routine MRI sequences. The number and the volume of the lesions were closely related to GCS. SWI showed high value in the diagnosis and prediction of the prognosis of DAI.

Objective To investigate the incidence of aspirin resistance (AR) in patients with Type Ⅱ Diabetes mellitus (DM) and the correlation between AR and advanced glycosylation end products (AGEs) as well as the homeostasis model assessment for insulin resistance index (HOMA-IR). Methods A total of 69 patients with Type Ⅱ DM and another 23 patients without DM as control group were enrolled between October 2009 and July 2010. Blood lipid, blood routine, fasting blood glucose, Glycated hemoglobin (GHb/Hb A1c) ,fasting insulin were determined at first. After aspirin treatment for at least 7 days, platelet aggregation stimulated by arachidonic acid(AA) and adenosine diphosphate (ADP) were measured. In addition, the level of serum AGEs was measured by using ELISA assay. The degree of insulin resistance was obtained by using HOMA-IR. Results The incidence of AR in patients with Type Ⅱ DM was higher than that in the controls(30.4% vs. 8.7%, P = 0.037 ); the levels of serum AGEs and HOMA-IR in patients with Type Ⅱ DM were higher than those in the controls [ (359.56 ± 120. 14) pg/mL vs. (275.45 ± 118.06)pg/mL, P=0. 004; (4.42 ±4.78) vs. ( 1.5 ±0.78), P＜0.01, respectively]; platelet aggregation stimulated by AA in the diabetic group was correlated with serum AGEs and HOMA-IR( R =0.463, P ＜0.01; R=0.290, P =0.016, respectively); and platelet aggregation stimulated by ADP was only positively correlated with HOMA-IR(R =0.242, P = 0.045). Conclusions The incidence of AR in patients with Type Ⅱ Diabetes mellitus is higher than that in the controls, and diabetics with higher serum AGEs and HOMA-IR are more likely to develop aspirin resistant.

Objective To examine the prevalence of chikungunya virus in brain tissue samples from rat?like animals in Xiamen, Shenzhen and Guangzhou, and to explore whether the rat?like animals are potential sources of human chikungunya fever infections and the host of the virus. Methods Rat?like animals were trapped in residential areas, city parks, hospitals, markets and schools in Xiamen, Shenzhen and Guangzhou (Yuexiu and Baiyun districts) between January 2013 and June 2016. Brain tissue samples of the trapped animals were collected under sterile. Chikungunya virus was detected by using reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT?PCR). Results Totally 1092 rat?like animals were trapped, which belonged to 7 species, 3 genera, 2 families, 2 orders. Rattus norvegicus was the dominant species in the indoor environment, Rattus losea was dominant in wild environment, and 1092 brain tissue samples were collected. No detectable chikungunya virus was found in the brain tissue samples by RT?PCR. Conclusion There is a low possibility that rat?like animals act infectious sources of human chikungunya fever infections and the host of the virus.

We detected Zika virus (ZIKV) in a febrile case returning from Suriname and entry China from Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport Port.Serum and saliva samples were collected from a suspected case returning from Suriname.We detected ZIKV RNA using real-time fluorescence RT-PCR methods by both in-house reagent and commercial detection kits.RT-PCR detection was carried out with saliva sample and sequence analysis was performed.Phylogenetic tree was constructed to analyze the source of imported cases.Real-time fluorescent RT-PCR result showed that saliva was detected ZIKV RNA positive while for serum was weakly positive.A specific 1 500 bp fragment in size was amplified with saliva sample by RT-PCR.Sequence analysis showed 99％ homologous to the corresponding sequence of Brazil ZIKV (GenBank No.KX197250).Phylogenetic tree indicated it was located on African lineage.According to the epidemiological investigation results,clinical manifestations and nucleic acid detection of case,the suspected case was confirmed to infect Zika virus,being the first case from Suriname into Guangdong Province.

With the development of the medical cosmetology industry, the market demand for medical sodium hyaluronate dressing is gradually increasing, but at present the product lacks the corresponding national standards. This problem makes this type of product face the problem of non-uniform standards in the quality control, registration declaration information content, technical review requirements, and other aspects. In this review paper, the classification of medical sodium hyaluronate wound dressing products was introduced, and the key points of the technical review were discussed, involving the division of the registration unit, raw material control, product performance indicators, and clinical evaluation. In addition, the key information review requirements in the process of registration and declaration of such products were analyzed, with a view to providing technical references for manufacturers and relevant regulatory agencies.

Objective:To explore the application effect of data envelopment analysis(DEA)model in the safety and quality management of ventilators in intensive care units.Methods:Based on the Chanis-Cooper-Rhodes(CCR)dual model,by adding constraints,the input-oriented Bank-Carnes-Cooper(BCC)model was constructed to construct the DEA model.Among the 124 related items in the DEA model,20 high-level related items were identified to carry out ventilator quality control management related to clinical service efficiency.A total of 33 ventilators in clinical use in the intensive care unit(ICU)of Jiangsu Province Hospital from October 2021 to September 2023 were selected.Among them,the ventilators used from October 2021 to September 2022 were managed by traditional quality control management methods,and the ventilators used from October 2022 to September 2023 were managed by DEA model.The satisfaction scores,management quality scores and clinical efficiency scores of participants in ventilator use management were compared between the two management methods.Results:The satisfaction scores of medical staff,patients and equipment engineers for ventilator management using the DEA model management method were(96.68±2.25)points,(96.32±2.18)points and(95.66±2.54)points,respectively,which were higher than those of the traditional quality control management method,the difference was statistically significant(t=10.940,15.220,6.674,P＜0.05).The average scores of ventilator operation performance,inspection operation safety and timeliness using DEA model management method were(4.44±0.31)points,(4.53±0.37)points and(4.61±0.36)points,respectively,which were higher than those of the traditional quality control management method,the difference was statistically significant(t=12.692,14.979,17.025,P＜0.05).The average scores of ventilator work efficiency,ventilator response time efficiency and ventilator treatment efficiency using the DEA model management method were(4.49±0.32)points,(4.75±0.35)points and(4.68±0.32)points,respectively,which were all higher than those of the traditional quality control management method,with statistically significant differences(t=21.179,16.785,16.347,P＜0.05).Conclusion:The application of the DEA model in the management of ventilators in ICU can improve the efficiency of ventilator clinical service,improve the satisfaction of ventilator management personnel and the quality of ventilator management.

Objective To compare the dosimetric differences between intracavitary brachytherapy in combination with interstitial brachytherapy or not for locally advanced cervical cancer.Methods From May 2016 to March 2017,35 patients with locally advanced cervical cancer treated with combined external beams and intracavitary/interstitial brachytherapy were selected in this study.The prescription of intensity-modulated radiation therapy was:46.8-50.4 Gy/26-28 fractions,1.8 Gy/fraction.The prescription for combined intracavitary/interstitial brachytherapy was 7 Gy/fraction × 4,once per week.Each patient was first implanted with a three tube applicator for brachytherapy,and the CT images were acquired for treatment planning.The three tube applicator was removed before a uterine tube and needles were implanted,thereafter planning images were acquired again.Dose to the targets and organs at risk were evaluated respectively for the two groups.Results A total of 212 brachytherapy plans were developed,including 106 intracavitary and 106 endoluminal combined interstitial plans.The target dose in endoluminal combined interstitial brachytherapy was significantly higher than that of intracavitary treatment alone,where D90 of the high-risk clinical target volume (CTV) and moderate CTV were both significantly increased (t =-6.01,-2.73,P ＜ 0.05).The D2 cm3 of the bladder,rectum and sigmoid colon were significantly reduced (t=3.07,4.52,2.91,P＜0.05).Conclusions The application of the endoluminal combined interstitial brachytherapy for locally advanced cervical cancer can significantly increase the target dose,and reduce the dose to organs at risk such as the bladder,rectum and sigmoid colon.

Objective:To develop a single-tube one-step multiplex nested real-time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) assay for the simultaneous detection of 2019-nCoV, influenza A virus, influenza B virus and internal-control with human-derived gene.Methods:This study included 30 positive specimens for 2019-nCoV nucleic acid detection and 336 screening specimens collected from the arrivals at Guangzhou Baiyun Airport between February 2020 and February 2022. Sixty-four positive specimens of other respiratory pathogens were also collected from the arrivals at Guangzhou Baiyun Airport during the three-year period before the occurrence of COVID19 outbreak in 2020, and 7 positive viral strains of respiratory pathogens were provided by collaborative laboratories. In order to establish a set of multiplex nested real-time RT-PCR assay, a group of primers and probe combinations for a multiplex nested real-time RT-PCR was designed and screened according to a selection of nucleotide conserved regions of the ORF and N genes of 2019-nCoV and the M gene of influenza A and B viruses, while nested amplification primers and probe for the internal-control with human-derived gene were introduced. Then the prepared pseudovirus-positive quality control and sample discs were applied to evaluate the sensitivity and specificity. Clinical specimens were performed to validate the applicability of the method.Results:The results show that the established one-step multiplex nested real-time RT-PCR assay can specifically detect 2019-nCoV and influenza A and B viruses, with the limit-of-detection of about 125 copies/ml for 2019-nCoV and about 250 copies/ml for influenza A and B viruses. Totally 101 positive samples of various respiratory pathogens were detected, showing that the detection sensitivities of 2019-nCoV and influenza A and B viruses were 96.67%, 92.86% and 96.15%, respectively, with the specificity of 100%. No false-positive detection was found in the applied detection of more than 300 clinical samples.Conclusions:A one-step multiplex nested real-time RT-PCR assay for 2019-nCoV, influenza A and B viruses and human-derived gene internal-control was developed. The assay has good sensitivity and specificity and can be used for rapid screening of 2019-nCoV and influenza A and B viruses in high-volume samples.

The emerging and re-emerging arthropod-borne infectious diseases pose a serious threat to global public health security. Field and laboratory studies of arthropods of medical importance are essential and critical for the prevention and control of arthropod-borne infectious diseases. Various institutions or universities in China have been conducting research in the field or laboratory study of arthropods of medical importance, but up to 2023, it is still lacking detailed biosafety guidelines or recommendations that can guide the related work for arthropods of medical importance. In order to proactively address potential biosafety issues in the field or laboratory activities related to arthropods of medical importance, improve the standardization of arthropod biosafety classification, operations, and protection, and ensure the safety of practitioners, an expert consensus on the biosafety recommendation of arthropods of medical importance in field and laboratory has been developed, aiming to guide the future work of arthropods and ensure the national biosafety and biosecurity of China.
