Methods:
CES-D, Morning and Evening Questionnaire-5 (MEQ-5) and Emotion Regulation scale (ERS) were administered to 2 398 students from 6 middle schools in Chengdu, Langzhong and Leshan of Sichuan Province. SPSS 21.0 was used to data processing and anlysis.
Results:
About 37.9% (909/2 398) of adolescents reported depressive symptoms. Prevalence of depressive symptom was higher in female students( χ 2= 25.15 , P <0.01), rural adolescents( χ 2=15.45, P <0.01), adolescents aged 15-18 compared to aged 12-14( χ 2=187.24, P < 0.01 ). There was significant difference in rate of depressive symptoms among adolescents with different circadian rhythms( χ 2= 55.19 , P < 0.01 ), with definite evening rhythm preference was the highest(57.1%). Prevalence of depressive symptoms significantly varied by sleep duration( χ 2=141.99, P <0.01), and were highest in adolescents with sleep duration <6 h(69.4%). The scores of suppression dimension in depressed adolescents were significantly higher than that of non depressive group, while the scores of reappraisal dimension were significantly higher in non depressive group than that of depressive group. Multivariate Logistic regression analysis showed that gender( OR =1.60), age( OR=2.29), suppression( OR = 1.13 ), sleep duration <6 h( OR =5.17), sleep duration 6-8 h ( OR =2.88) were positively associated with depressive symptoms in adolescents. Moderate type( OR =0.53), morning type ( OR =0.55) and cognitive reappraisal ( OR =0.90) were associated with lower rate of depressive symptoms( P <0.05).
Conclusion
Sleep rhythm delay, lack of sleep and emotion suppression in adolescents are associated with higher risk for depression. Regular sleep habits and reasonable emotion regulation might help to prevent adolescent depression.

Chinese Journal of School Health 2021;42(4):493-496
Objective:
To investigate the prospective effects of the consumption of protein and animal foods before menarche on the age at menarche among Chinese girls.
Methods:
This paper was based on the data collected in the China Health and Nutrition Survey(CHNS) from 1997 to 2015. A total of 683 girls aged 6 and over who had completed information on age at menarche, height, weight, per capita annual household income, maternal education level and participated in at least one complete dietary survey within 1 to 4 years before menarche were included. Urban-rural stratified multivariable linear regression model was used to examine the effects of protein and animal foods intake before menarche on Chinese girls age at menarche in urban and rural areas.
Results:
After adjusted for total energy intake, body mass index standard deviation score and per capita annual household income, the consumption of meat before menarche was negatively associated with the age at menarche among rural Chinese girls(B=-0.003, P=0.00), but not among urban Chinese girls(B=0.002, P>0.05). Total protein, dairy, eggs and aquatic products intake before menarche were not associated with Chinese girls age at menarche in urban and rural areas(B=0.002, -0.001, 0.003, 0.000; 0.001, 0.001, -0.001, -0.003, P>0.05).
Conclusion
Higher intake of meat before menarche might lead to earlier menarche onset in rural Chinese girls. The consumption of total protein, dairy, eggs, and aquatic products before menarche did not affect the age at menarche in Chinese girls.
10.Influential factors and methods of evaluating the gingival biotype
Journal of Prevention and Treatment for Stomatological Diseases 2019;27(5):327-330
Gingival biotypes are used to describe the morphological characteristics of periodontal tissue. According to thickness, the gingiva can be divided into thin and thick gingival biotypes. The gingival biotype has a wide range of influential factors and can be measured by various methods. In the process of oral treatment, to achieve good therapeutic effects and obtain a clear prognosis, it is particularly important to study the gingival biotype. This article reviews the influential factors and methods for assessing the gingival biotype. The results of literature review show that, factors influencing the gingival biotype include individual factors related to sex, age and ethnicity and oral soft and hard tissue characteristics related to crown shape, tooth position, alveolar bone thickness, keratinized gingival width and gingival papilla height. Gingival hypertrophy mainly occurs in young males and in people with square and round crowns, thicker alveolar bones and wider keratinized gingiva. With the development of methods for measuring the gingival biotype ranging from the traditional direct observation method, direct measurement methods and periodontal exploration methods to cone beam computed tomography and ultrasound have increased the accuracy of these measurements.
