Chromogranin A (CGA) has been considered as the most useful indicator of neuroendocrine activity.It is the precursor of many biologically active peptides produced by proteolytic cleavage,which play their roles in a large variety of patterns in different tissue.Clinically,CGA is of diagnostic and evaluation value in several diseases.The protein structure,biological and physiological functions as well as the clinical significance of CGA are reviewed in this article.

Cardiomyocytes apoptosis plays a crucial role in the pathologic process of some ischemic and non-ischemic heart diseases. Since the discovery of the calpain family,more and more studies have demonstrated their close relationship with cell apoptosis. In addition to the consideration of their unique distribution in the cardiomyocytes,we are enthralled by their implication of a novel direction for both the diagnosis and the treatment of various heart diseases.

OBJECTIVE To apply D-test for detection of inducible resistance of erythromycin to clindamycin in staphylococci and investigate their resistant rate to erythromycin and clindamycin. METHODS According to the standards of NCCLS to detect inducible resistance of erythromycin to clindamycin in staphylococci . RESULTS Co-resistance to erythromycin and clindamycin accounted for 50% and 22.8% in 77 strains of staphylococci (20 of S.aureus and 57 of coagulase-negative staphylococci). The rate of erythromycin resistance and clindamycin sensitivity accounted for 20% and 59.6%. D-test positive rate was 50% and 61.8% of which were erythromycin resistant and clindamycin sensitive respectively. CONCLUSIONS D-test for detection of inducible resistance of erythromycin to clindamycin in staphylococci should be checked in clinical microbiology laboratory in order to help physicians to select MLSb antimicrobial agents correctly.

Objective:To understand the quality of life about rural elderly population and its influencing factors.Methods:Using WHOQOL-BREF scale and self-designed questionnaire,a survey about quality of life was conducted among 1074 rural elderly in Shandong Province selected by stratified,random method.T test,variaace analysis and multiple linear regression were used to analyze the influencing factors.Results:The score of environment field was the highest (13.83 ± 1.05),while social relations field was the lowest (8.63± 0.45).Single factor analysis showed that age,education level,economic situation,pension source,chronic disease,pension mode,physical exanination had significant effect on quality of life scores in each dimension (P ＜ 0.05).Marital status only had significant effect on psychological and social relations scores (P ＜ 0.05).Gender and the number of children were not statistically significant on the quality of life score in each dimension (P ＞ 0.05).Multiple regression analysis showed that the influencing factors of quality of life score in each dimension were chronic disease and economic situation.Physical examination only had significant effect on the physiology and psychological score.Pension mode had significant effect on psychological and social relations score.Age influenced physiology health score.Marital status influenced psychology health score.Conclusion:The government should pay attention to the health status of elderly and the psychological status of elderly without spouse;increase the support efforts to the poor rural elderly;strengthen the prevention and treatment of chronic diseases;improve the social support network and social security system.

RESULTS & CONCLUSION: The established network bridged the communication between doctors and pharmacists, and enabled them to better understand medicinal information and prescribe medicines, and therefore serve the patients better.

OBJECTIVE To evaluate application of cefoxitin disk diffusion method in detecting meticillin-resistant staphylococci(MRS)mediated by mecA gene.METHODS The cefoxitin disk diffusion method,oxacillin disk(diffusion) method,oxacillin agar dilution test,VITEK automicroscan as well as PCR amplification were performed and compared simultaneously for detection of MRS,and VITEK automicroscan was used in testing MIC.(RESULTS)(Among) 96 strains of Staphylococcus(16 S.aureus and 80 coagulase-negative staphylococci strains),54 strains of MRS(2 S.aureus and 52 coagulase-negative staphylococci strains) were identified by oxacillin disk(diffusion) method,oxacillin agar dilution test and VITEK automicroscan,48 mecA-genes were identified by PCR amplification(2 S.aureus and 46 coagulase-negative staphylococci strains) which was the same as by cefoxitin disk diffusion method.CONCLUSIONS The(cefoxitin) disk diffusion method is highly consistent with mecA gene method,and a reliable one of screening and(identifying) MRS mediated by mecA gene.

Objective To apply autoimplantation technique in the treatment of verruca plana, and to investigate the mechanisms of it. Methods The changes of T cell subsets and IL-2 level in the peripheral blood of the patients with verruca plana, in conjunction with histopathological and immunohistochemical features of verruca plana tissue at reactive stage were studied by APAAP and radioimmunoassay, respectively. The tissue specimens were studied by H.E stain and immunohistochemical techniques. Results Significantly decreased CD4+ cell numbers, CD4+/CD8+ ratio and IL-2 level were found before treatment, compared with those in healthy controls (P 0.05). Lymphocytic infiltration, epidermal edema and dissolution were shown in the histopathological study. There were CD45RO+, CD6+, CD4+ and CD8+ cells in the lymphocytic infiltration, but no CD20+ and Mac387- cells. Langerhans cells with positive S-100 protein were observed in basal layer of the epidermis and reaction area. Conclusions T cell-mediated immune responses could be improved in autoimplantation, the warts are rejected mainly by of CD8+ subset cytotoxicity.

OBJECTIVE:To probe into the status quo and the future tendency of the hematological system drugs used in Guangdong area.METHODS:The hematological system drugs used in over60hospitals of Guangdong area between2000and2004were analyzed statistically with respect to drug variety and amount of money.RESULTS:The amount of money of hematological system drugs increased year by year;that of the joint venture manufactured drugs and the domestic drugs in?creased year by year;filgrastim dominated the first in terms of amount of money.CONCLUSION:The domestic enterprises should strengthen the research and development of drugs and further increase their market share so as to satisfy the needs of more patients.

PurposeTo observe the effects of blocking the renin-Angiotensin-Aldosterone system at different sites in experimental congestive heart failure (CHF)rats. Methods Six weeks after coronary ligation, rats( n = 66)were randomized to benalapril, losartan, spironolactone, placebo, and treated for 6 weeks. Sham-operated rats( n = 18) served as controls. Six weeks later left ventricular hemodynamics were measured. Results In the hemodynamic variables, HR was not significantly different between groups. Compared four treatment groups with sham-operated group, LVEDP increased, LVPSP and ± dp/dtmax decreased (P＜0.05). Compared with placebo group,all data in spironolactone group were not significantly different, LVEDP, mortality in benalapril group and in losartan group decreased, LVPSP and ± dp/dtmax in benalapril group and in losartan group increased(P ＜ 0.05). ConclusionsAdministration of ACEI and Ag Ⅱ-AT1 antagonist are effective in preventing from cardiac function deterioration, while spironolactone treatments are not. Spironolactone has tendency in decreasing LVEDP.
