Aim Toinvestigatetheeffectofbencyclo-quidium bromide(BCQB)on mucus MUC5AC expres-sion induced by lipopolysaccharide in cultured human nasalepithelialcells(HNECs).Methods Primary culture of human nasal epithelial cells (HNECs)was randomly divided into control group (C,with no treat-ment),LPS group (LPS,with LPS 1 mg · L-1 added in),BCQB low dose group(BCQBL,with LPS 1 mg· L-1 and BCQB 10 -8 mol·L-1 added in),BCQB mid-dle dose group(BCQBM,with LPS 1 mg·L-1 and BC-QB 10 -7 mol·L-1 added in),BCQB high dose group (BCQBH,with LPS 1 mg·L-1 and BCQB 10 -6 mol· L-1 added in)and ipratropium bromide group(IB,with LPS 1 mg·L-1 and IB 10 -6 mol·L-1 added in).Af-ter incubation at 37 ℃with 5% CO2 for 24 h,the ex-pression of MUC5 AC mRNA was detected with Real-time PCR and the expression of MUC5 AC protein in HNECs was detected with Western blot, while the ex-pression of MUC5 AC protein in supernatant was detec-tedwithELISAineachgroup.Results Ascompared with control group, the expression of MUC5 AC mRNA and protein increased significantly in LPS group (each P<0. 01 ).As compared with LPS group, the expres-sion of MUC5 AC mRNA and protein decreased signifi-cantly in each group of BCQB(P<0. 01,P<0. 05), and there was no statistical difference between BCQB high dose group and control group (each P>0. 05 ). Conclusion Bencycloquidiumbromidecansuppress MUC5 AC expression induced by LPS in cultured hu-man nasal epithelial cells, indicating that BCQB may be a new drug for nasal mucous hypersecretion diseases.

OBJECTIVE:
To observe waveform differences among ocular vestibular evoked myogenic potentials (ACS-oVEMP) elicited by different types of air conducted sound in normal young Chinese subjects.
METHOD:
Twenty-two adult volunteers (44 ears) were recruited as research subjects including 12 males and 10 females aged between 18 and 35. Five hundred Hz tone burst, 125 Hz tone burst and click were employed as stimulus for conventional ACS-oVEMP examinations in bilateral ears of each subject. The response rate, threshold, n I latency, p I latency, n I-p I latency interval, amplitude and inter-aural asymmetry were recorded and compared among groups.
RESULT:
The response rate was 100% (44/44) in 500 Hz tone burst group, 40.9% (18/44) in 125 Hz tone burst group and 29.6% (12/44) in click group There were statistical significant differences between the 500 Hz tone burst group and the other groups (P < 0.05). Waveform amplitude was the largest in the 500 Hz tone burst group (7.3 +/- 5.5) muV than that in the 125 Hz tone burst group (3.8 +/- 1.5) muV and that in the click group (5.8 +/- 1.3) muV, which had statistically significant differences between the former and the later two groups (P < 0.05). Other waveform parameters presented similar differeces.
CONCLUSION
ACS-oVEMP waveforms could be largely affected by different stimulus. 500 Hz tone burst was the best stimulus with highest response rate, biggest amplitude and therefore most easily recognizable waveform in ACS-oVEMP examination.

Objective To explore the value of transrectal elastography and contrast-enhanced ultrasound in evaluation of the efficacy of neoadjuvant therapy for rectal cancer. Methods Forty patients with final diagnosis of advanced(T≥3) rectal cancer were respectively examined with transrectal ultrasound (TRUS),endorectal elastography and contrast-enhanced ultrasound(CEUS) before and after neoadjuvant therapy(NET).The tumor size, strain ratio and quantitative parameters of contrast-enhanced ultrasound including arrival time(AT),time-to-peak (TTP),peak intensity(PI) and area under the curve(AUC) were recorded and compared before and after NET.In addition, the TRUS stages and postoperative pathological diagnosis were compared after NET.Results ①There were significant decreases in tumor size and strain ratio after the therapy compared with pre-therapy in all these patients(t =-6.13,P <0.001;t =-24.92,P < 0.001).②PI and AUC were lower after NET than those of pre-therapy and the differences were significant(t =-9.66,P =0.001;t =-13.58,P <0.001).However,the changes of AT and TTP were no statistical significances (t =-1.17,P =0.307;t =-1.26,P =0.275).③The accuracys of preoperative TRUS for T stage and N stage of tumor evaluated according to pathology were respectively 75.0 % (30/40,Kappa =0.593,P =0.000) and 72.5 % (29/40,Kappa =0.396,P =0.009).Conclusions Transrectal elastography and contrast-enhanced ultrasound can reflect the pathological changes and perfusion characteristics of lesions in a certain extent and have high value in clinical therapy.

Objective To analyze the related factors of obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS) in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) patients. Methods 289 participants were enrolled and 254 people finished the whole process. Portable sleep monitor was used to detect the breath situation during sleep , and related factors were also analyzed. Finally , 183 subjects were diagnosed as OSAS and 71 subjects were not. Results 254 T2DM subjects were enrolled, with 108 males (59%) and 183 participants were diagnosed as OSAS (72%). OSAS group had a higher diabetic duration, body mass index, 2 h plasma glucose, fasting insulin, C peptide level, systolic blood pressure, triglyceride, low density lipoprotein cholesterol, and homocysteine levels(P<0.01). The prevalences of dyslipidemia , hyperuricemia , high blood pressure , non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and metabolic syndromein OSAS group were also higher than that in compared groups. Logistic regression analysis showed that body mass index, dyslipidemia and high homocysteine level were independent risk factors of OSAS. Conclusions The prevalence of OSAS in T2DM was higher. Blood glucose level , body mass index and multiple metabolic parameters in OSAS patients elevated significantly. Obesity and insulin resistance were major factors during the process of the disease.

Objective To explore the applied value of multi-slice spiral CT(MSCT) scan in the traumatic facial palsy. Methods 41 cases of traumatic facial palsy were scanned using MSCT,the MPR of interseted region of temporal bone and curved planar reconstruction(CPR) images were performed on Philips Mx8000 MSCT work station. The types, locations and course of the temporal bone fracture and the involving features of the external auditory canal, middle ear, inner ear were observed. Results 39 cases of the 41 patients had temporal fracture in different location.34 cases were longitudinal fracture,2 were transverse fracture and 2 were mixed fracture. The facial nerve canals were involved in 21 cases. Conclusion MSCT and the reformation images can help to study the facial nerve canal in the traumatic patients. It is important to use the MPR and CPR in the traumatic facial palsy.
